As we were finishing up college and entering the workforce (think 2005 - 2010) ModCloth felt like a perfect fit for a lot of young women who wanted to hang onto their quirkiness but still feel appropriate in a professional environment. It always skewed too femme and too colourful for me, but I could appreciate why others valued the brand.I know some people who practically wept when they were sold to Jet/Walmart. It really felt like the end of an era. Once Walmart acquired ModCloth, many loyal customers left in droves.
