Was in Boston for my birthday and our son got tickets to The Moth. Is anyone in the US familiar with the Moth Radio Hour on NPR? People tell true stories about their lives, 10 minutes, no notes.&nbsp; They're usually told in front of live audiences and recorded, then curated for radio and the Moth podcast. This was the first live show outside of NY in 18 months.</p> <p>On the sidewalk outside the theater our bags were searched, and we showed our vaccine cards (on phone), and ID. I believe they took enough time to match ID to evidence. Inside we were wanded with metal detectors. Everyone was fully masked through the whole event.</p> <p>It was truly overwhelming to be in community again...and at such a special sort of event. There were 5 stories. I cried 4 times! NYC is doing a great job of requiring proof of vaccination, and we felt fine in the theater, which was filled (to capacity) with happy vaccinated and masked theater-goers. There was just a hum of excitement in the audience to be there - we all even applauded for the "turn off your cell phones" announcement!!! This weekend we are seeing live music in a small local venue and I seriously cannot wait. I am beyond grateful this venue survived the pandemic and I am happy to support them. It is the touring group who will be performing. We saw Hamilton there before lockdown, and we're very excited to go back. We're going to a matinee, so we're even playing hooky from school! My friend who runs an arts center has been very busy lately, because they are once again opening up to live events—so exciting! He just got the exec director job in August 2019, so his experience so far is mostly running it with distanced events, like pick-up kits for kids and online. It was wonderful to be back in McCaw Hall to see my friends/colleagues as well as our regular patrons. There were approximately 500 fully vaccinated, mask wearing audience members who saw a fabulous matinee performance today. I have been a part-time usher/assistant head usher for 33 years and love my work. Please support the arts in your local community. The arts make us all better citizens. </p>
