This is a great winter look, and slim pants (and cordouroy) just make sense for the cold. YLF! I do have one pair of slim straight jeans that are basically skinnies and get worn occasionally.

Thing is, your skinnies don't look like true (dreaded) skinnies!:-). You styled them great here. I tried so hard for my body and my life but never loved the trend. I have muscular legs, a flat bum and some belly...and work in an office...now you can imagine...:-).

SUZ- Looks as though a few fabbers have BF jeans that act almost like skinnies. Their practically in certain weather conditions just can’t be beat.
SLIM CAT- I too, tried to avoid the skinnies, but the trend just hung on for so long that I eventually caved just as trends were starting to shift wider. Wouldn’t you know it!
SISI- Thanks for your high praise, so kind. I agree that these mid calf boots with my skinnies does give off a certain equestrian vibe.
ROBINF- Yep, had some wide legs on the other day, and thought yikes, its too cold and windy to be wearing these.
LJP- Ha, could it be that I’m keeping pace with some of the fashionable IGs?
JULES- Too right, wearing my puffer certainly helps me feel less body con in my skinnies.

Thanks all for your kind feedback on my skinnies
BROOKLYN- So true, some styles are just better suited for inclement weather, slims, straights and skinnies seem to be ideal.
LJP- Yes, it does seem like a long time ago when skinnies were all the rage and Prairie winters are certainly renowned for being long and cold.
JAIME - I also see plenty of young folks currently embracing wide-legs more so than the older generations.
KELLYGIRL- Love the sounds of your skinny and fair isle sweater combo. I’m sure you looked fab.
STAR- Ha, there you go, stirrups maybe on the horizon once again.

Absolutely, although I prefer wider cuts and have embraced them I also have 5 pairs of skinnies (denim, cord and velvet) in my post-covid size and wear them all winter with my city walking and snow boots. It just makes sense. Worn with my long puffers they take a back seat visually and the proportions feel current enough and not body con.

One of your best outfits ever! Skinnies love you! I like the vaguely equestrian look and the color palette. The printed shirt looks beautiful and unexpected combined with all the other solid neutral pieces. You look fab. I have straight-leg pants, that I call "cigarette" pants - reading Angie's comment I think I can qualify them as skinnies. So the answer to your question is yes.

Skinnies do seem like a refreshing change from the usual. Yours look fab and so cute with the puffer and hat. I wore a pair last week with a fair isle sweater and boots so I'm right there with you! I don't think I'm ready to bring them back full force but I'll wear the pair or two I stored away--at least every once in awhile!

Dee, I think you look really good in these and the outfit looks fresh as well as practical. The mid calf boot definitely feels new again (I used to love a pair of mid-calf motos with skinnies, myself) and you are so right that they are a warm and practical option. I like you in the grey/ burgundy mix and I also really like your specs here!

I don't have any skinnies any more but I do have a pair of slim BF jeans that almost feel like skinnies these days (even though they are loose at waist and hip and bum/ thigh area). In fact, I wore the BF jeans today! I tend to wear them on cool wet days for exactly the reasons you mention.

You are wearing your skinnies in a current way and your outfit looks great! And they don't look like super skinnies to me fwiw. Finally, I do think slimmer bottoms are being seen again out there again on fashion social media. As for me, there is a sharp divide where I live between young people (like my 20 year old daughters) that wear wider legs and millennial and up women that seem to still be wearing skinnies (generalizing of course). As for me (Gen X) I tend to wear looser bottoms - not true wide legs, not skinnies. I like to mix it up.

Irina speaks for me , too. I'm not sure I ever owned any true skinnies to begin with , but honestly it feels like 100 years ago now and I really don't remember much about what the heck I wore then. Narrow pants of any kind are pretty much necessary in our Prairie winters so I understand completely about hanging on to a pair you really loved. I think the outfit looks very casually polished, and perfect for snowy conditions. And I agree that a high shaft boot makes the look current.

I have one pair that I hold onto for wet weather. (Actually sold as boyfriend jeans but they fit me like skinnies.) I hate them (on me) with a passion - they really don’t suit my body type. But I agree they are just the ticket for wet weather. Wide leg jeans, even cargo pants, don’t cut it in the wet. This morning I went for a walk in the rain in my cargo pants and they are soaked from calf height down. Sigh.

You look great in yours. I agree the calf height boot is the way to go. You can go out in the rain, come home, take off your boots and, lo, you are dry

CAT2 - Oh yeah, skinnies are definitely not everyone's cup of tea

JENNI NZ- I remember stirrup pants I had exactly one pair back in the 90s too. Haven't seen any stirrups in the fashion cycles for quite a while.

ANGIE- Thank you for your gracious comment. Your slims jeans are just soo.. cool, and yes, I get how after wearing wide-legs for awhile it does feel a bit odd wearing such a slim fitting profile again.

KATE- Yep, I can really feel those cold drafts when they're blowing up my wide-legs or barrels. Not pleasant!

I feel I never gave “skinnies” up, though to be fair I haven’t had a pair of skinny *jeans* since the 1990s-which were the stirrup pair bought in 1985. I loved those and after having my first baby 1991 that was my big thing, working to fit back into those jeans! I did!
When I wear my tall boots though, it’s more fitting leggings into them, wearing under a dress or skirt.
You look excellent in this outfit Dee, and yay for practicality in your winter.

STAR ( LISE) - Haha, lt looks like grey corduroy skinnies could be making a comeback.
JAILEEN- I find skinnies slip into my tall boots so easily, none of the extra rumples you sometimes get with straight jeans.

I understand the versatility of skinny jeans in our winters. This is why I still see them from time to time here, in Toronto, too. I remember this styling was basically a uniform for a lot of women. Very practical with tall boots. Yours look good.
To answer your questions - no, I’m not. But I never wore them, mine were a slim straight cut during the skinny pants/jeans years. And I don’t wear tall boots, so there is no need.

Oooh, fab outfit! I love the pants with the boots. I never wore skinny jeans. I just tucked regular jeans into snow boots when necessary.

So far, this “winter” we’ve had zero snow and the forecast today is 63F/17C. :(

You look great Dee! Grey and burgundy together is currently a favourite of mine. This is so serendipitous. I have lost quite a few kilos and this morning I pulled out my grey cord skinnies and they fit. I wasn't too sure how I was going to wear them. I haven't worn them for probably five years. I'm into straights or slim straights currently. Of course says me slapping my forehead 'with taller boots'! I have boots that are also not too tall but not short. Thanks for the inspiration!. When I wear them I'll post a pic.

Well never say never, I kept these grey corduroy skinnies in my holding zone for the last few years, and today I decided to pull them out again and try to revive them for winter wear in 2025/2026.

These skinnies were bought at the tail end of the skinny jeans trend. I wasn't really a big fan of skinnies but I eventually relented. This pair is actually quite comfortable and warm to wear in the cold winter months. Sadly, they saw very little use once jean trends started going wider but I just couldn't seem to let them go as they were nice quality and in a hard to find colour particularly in corduroy.

Funny enough, I now find them kind of a nice change of pace from my usual wide-legs and barrels which aren't the most practical to wear during the winter months. There's often cold, snowy wind drafts or slushy roads where I live.

My 2025/26 version has these skinnies tucked into a somewhat taller boot, it just feels like a slightly more updated way for me to wear them out and about right now. Added the Columbia 3/4 zip fleece top for a little punch of colour and pattern, finished with my trusty burgundy mid-thigh puffer and a wool tuque .

Are any of you still holding onto to skinnies?
