Their practically in certain weather conditions just can’t be beat. SLIM CAT- I too, tried to avoid the skinnies, but the trend just hung on for so long that I eventually caved just as trends were starting to shift wider. Wouldn’t you know it! SISI- Thanks for your high praise, so kind. I agree that these mid calf boots with my skinnies does give off a certain equestrian vibe. ROBINF- Yep, had some wide legs on the other day, and thought yikes, its too cold and windy to be wearing these. The mid calf boot definitely feels new again (I used to love a pair of mid-calf motos with skinnies, myself) and you are so right that they are a warm and practical option. I like you in the grey/ burgundy mix and I also really like your specs here!  I don't have any skinnies any more but I do have a pair of slim BF jeans that almost feel like skinnies  these days (even though they are loose at waist and hip and bum/ thigh area). In fact, I wore the BF jeans today! And they don't look like super skinnies to me fwiw. Finally, I do think slimmer bottoms are being seen again out there again on fashion social media. As for me, there is a sharp divide where I live between young people (like my 20 year old daughters) that wear wider legs and millennial and up women that seem to still be wearing skinnies (generalizing of course). As for me (Gen X) I tend to wear looser bottoms - not true wide legs, not skinnies. I like to mix it up. And I agree that a high shaft boot makes the look current. (Actually sold as boyfriend jeans but they fit me like skinnies.) I hate them (on me) with a passion - they really don’t suit my body type. But I agree they are just the ticket for wet weather. Wide leg jeans, even cargo pants, don’t cut it in the wet. This morning I went for a walk in the rain in my cargo pants and they are soaked from calf height down. Sigh. You look great in yours. I loved those and after having my first baby 1991 that was my big thing, working to fit back into those jeans! I did! This is why I still see them from time to time here, in Toronto, too. I remember this styling was basically a uniform for a lot of women. Very practical with tall boots. Grey and burgundy together is currently a favourite of mine. This is so serendipitous. I have lost quite a few kilos and this morning I pulled out my grey cord skinnies and they fit. I wasn't too sure how I was going to wear them. I haven't worn them for probably five years. I'm into straights or slim straights currently. These skinnies were bought at the tail end of the skinny jeans trend. I wasn't really a big fan of skinnies but I eventually relented. This pair is actually quite comfortable and warm to wear in the cold winter months. Sadly, they saw very little use once jean trends started going wider but I just couldn't seem to let them go as they were nice quality and in a hard to find colour particularly in corduroy. Funny enough, I now find them kind of a nice change of pace from my usual wide-legs and barrels which aren't the most practical to wear during the winter months. There's often cold, snowy wind drafts or slushy roads where I live. My 2025/26 version has these skinnies tucked into a somewhat taller boot, it just feels like a slightly more updated way for me to wear them out and about right now. Added the Columbia 3/4 zip fleece top for a little punch of colour and pattern, finished with my trusty burgundy mid-thigh puffer and a wool tuque . Are any of you still holding onto to skinnies?
