Great jacket, it's lovely in both outfits and worn both open and closed. I'd love to see this with a turtleneck worn closed sometime too. Closed the ruffle detailing is really eye catching. And the drape when worn open is great too.

What it was looking like to me was some excess fabric along the *side* of the
bosom, where sometimes a dart would be or it would be lifted into an existing
princess seam. But if your seamstress is pleased with the fit, I bow to her
expertise. Anyway, still a great jacket and wonderful that it is so pleasing to wear.

This jacket gives you a nice strong shoulder line which helps to make you look slim and balance your chest. I think Vildy is seeing a tiny bit of pulling at the seams that go along the sides of your bosom when it's buttoned. I think it's fine, although it a tailor could perfect this it would be, well, perfect. (-: Otherwise, I don't think it diminishes the fact that this jacket emphasizes your waist and make you look very proprotional and slim!

I love it with jeans - I love it even more with the lace dress/seperates. That look with sheer black hose will be a formal occasion workhorse for you!

Glad most of you like it!! That makes me feel better. :)
Vildy, it absolutely doesn't feel too loose through the chest...can you describe where you're seeing something off?
I swung by my seamstress today while wearing the jacket, and she actually commented on it and remarked on how well it fit. I also got a completely random complement from a stranger while grocery shopping, so that also helps reconcile me to my purchase.

I think the jacket is just stunning. Lucky you that you found a jacket that looks good both open and closed! My favorite look for jackets is rolled and scrunched sleeves. It gives the outfit a more casual and sassy vibe. You could try it with your more casual ensembles.
Great find!

Michelle, To my eye, it looks best when worn closed as it showcases the ruffle I feel the fit needs some adjustment to be worn open but I will leave that to the experts.

Michelle, this looks beautiful all the ways you have styled it. You are gong to look beautiful and appropriate. I only wish you did not have this sad occasion.

Vildy, I am wondering if what you're referring to is the ruffle detail that Michelle mentioned earlier. Even though these are much clearer photos, black being black, it is still a bit hard to tell. SO frustrating, isn't it?

The fit looks good to me, Michelle. Love that ruffle. I think it'll be a workhorse. Just one beef from me. I can't see the buttons well in the pictures, so perhaps I'm missing something. From what I can see, they don't do the jacket justice. They look kind of cheap. I'd swap them out for something else.

Very, very nice. I still think it needs a bit of tailoring: it should be smoother at the side of the bosom. Is there a chance that the store that sold such an expensive jacket has a tailor? It would if you were a guy.

I managed to obtain a whole slew of pitcures of the expensive jacket I acquired yesterday. I decided to start making it earn its keep by wearing it today in a casual ensemble. Pics one and two show it with jeans, my one and only graphic tee, and chunky pearls. Pic three shows the dress in the more formal ensemble I'm thinking of wearing to the funeral tomorrow, minus the sheer hose that I couldn't be bothered to put on for this shot.
The remaining six shots were taken by my obliging friend in the downstairs store and show the jacket from different angles, both open and closed.

So, hopefully you have enough to go on...does the jacket work? On its own? In either outfit? All input welcome!
