LOL Sarah, that's a horrible nightmare. I hope you never experience such a tragedy! :)

My white Target moto jacket has denim dye on the sleeves already... *very* annoying. I'm sure it will be easy to clean though.

And Marianna, I thought of that, too. I actually had a nightmare where I bought the trench and wore it with my new Cookie Johnson jeans and they stained the neckline (of all places, don't ask me how that happened, ha).

Haha, Angie. Yes ma'am.
I do dry clean about half of my clothes, so that isn't an issue.
Maya, my furbabes have dark fur (actually, I have every shade represented except orange) buuut they don't get to play in the closets, so my clothing doesn't come in contact with fur (unless I'm lazy and throw them on the bed). Lint rollers and Pledges relatively new pet hair roller work marvelously.
I am saving up for the trench and will get it and take photos asap. It's SO chic and very, very crisp.
I'll wear it with denim and save the white jeans for summer when the trench will stay in the closet. Squee!!

I think it's dry clean only because the fabric has a lot of nylon in it and nylon hates, hates, hates washing. The nylon should make it waterproof and easy to spot-clean with a baby wipe or a stain remover. If you don't mind a little maintenance, your white trench should be just fine.

Sarah, I don't honestly find a white coat any less practical than solid black. In fact lately I have been thinking that darker solids tend to be worse. They show every speck of lint, dirt, hair, and dust. White seems better for your climate anyway.

The only consideration for me would be if any of your kitties have black fur and shed a lot! I'm screwed either way because mine has both dark and white fur, so I have just made friends with a sticky roller.

I really love the idea of a white or cream trench for you Sarah (the M&O one looks great). There's just something so chic and elegant about a trench in this colour, and you would rock the look).

It may not be the most practical colour (I think there was a thread about this a while back, was it Brianna who asked about a light-coloured trench?), but it seems very do-able if you just wear it to go out and about and put on a different coat for outdoors-y type of activities.

I say just go for it, your climate seems ideal for it!!

Years ago I bought a white trench similar to the one you show. I saw it at Bullock's Northridge in LA and bought it on a whim--I'd never had anything like it before. I was in law school at the time, also wife and mother to two school age boys. I wore that trench for several years and loved it. I don't remember it getting dirty--the close weave meant it shed dirt and spills.

Living in LA meant I could wear it from fall through spring, although in the drier warmer weather I didn't need it too often. I vote yes--get it.

It is really pretty! The only thing that might not be practical is that it is dry clean only... though if you were only asking about versatility in your outfits, I think that it will get plenty of wear.

I like the white trench and think it would look fab on you, but what about a nice white blazer instead? You could wear the blazer more than the trench because you could incorporate the blazer into evening out looks on days that are too warm for the trench. Lower cost per wear with the blazer.

I'm looking towards spring and trying to sort out what outerwear (if any) I should get.
I have a black trench now, but don't really want to wear that much longer. It feels so drab to me now, what a change!
We will probably have one more week of cold weather at least, and it could hit as late as mid-March. But after that, the temps will start to climb.
I could see needing a springy trench for maybe 6-8 weeks (or more, we just never know here). Once we hit summer, all outerwear is packed away for awhile.
I plan on wearing lots of brightly colored tops in solids and prints with white and denim jeans. I obviously don't want to wear a white trench with white jeans, but will probably wear the white jeans the most in the summer when a trench won't be needed anyway.
Khaki is not an option because it is about the worst color on me. I really want something crisp, and some of the colored trenches just seem too bold for my classic style.
I have my eye on this one, and love the fit. I'm just trying to sort through if it's worth it. I always have coupons for Martin + Osa, so price isn't a concern.
http://www.martinandosa.com/we.....prod970655
Any thoughts? Does anybody have a white trench and find it restrictive?
