I like weddings. Weddings are fun. Wedding dresses are, tho, frightening.

I second Glory's motion. Try a few on. Snap a few pics. I also have droopy shoulders and while I'm not bombshell, I am also not svelte and willowy. A princess ballgown might actually be the right thing for you. Because it gives shoulders, princess seams and the full skirt to navigate the hourglass figure. You just may want to be careful the dress isn't a complete meringue, ornamented with just stuff hanging off it.

...although, frankly, I still prefer Princess Di's poufy gown to Duchess Kate's elegant one. Some things say princess-special and some things just don't... although Kate's choice probably boded better for marriage as a whole... but I digress... lol.
I don't think it's weird at all to be scared of picking out a wedding dress. There's a lot of emotion (and sometimes stress) going into wedding planning. Try to stay focused on the one bit that matters: everybody is coming together to celebrate with and for you two!

I think Glory's suggestion of snapping a few photos of you wearing some gowns is a great one. Try to get a few that sing to you (yay full gowns!) and, if you're feeling pressured by others, ones that they say "look good on you".

You've got a great start already with identifying the styles that appeal to you and your figure flattery concerns. This is going to be fun, not stressful!
Well first congrats on the upcoming wedding - that is wonderful. My first thought is you should go and try the different styles on and see what move you and makes you feel happiest. Maybe snap a couple of pics of your top faves and bring them back here for us to see and possibly help narrow it down.

Okaaay.
So, I'm getting married and it is getting closer and closer to the time where my mother will be just picking out my wedding dress for me. I'm terrified of wedding dresses...weird huh?

My problem is that I am short and full. I've always wanted a princessy ball gown one that is huge a poofy with lots of Organza...but everyone says that the poof from the dress will "swallow" me.
I've been tipped to wear a mermaid dress..which are gorgeous. BUT, I'm a weird shape between a pear and an hourglass. Plus, I'm really self-conscious about my hips and thighs. I have a little "pooch" on my lower belly area (that needs to go away!!!) and it comes and goes..I don't know why.
I have what we call, "droopy shoulders." They are there, but they aren't very broad.

I am 5'2, 150 lbs, 36C, 31/29 in jeans.

Please help thaanks!
