The berry is a sheer formula so needs a little more frequent application, although it leaves a decent stain ... I received a gift card from one of my client's for Christmas and finally made it down to their Queen Street Toronto location with my lovely sister-in-law. What a fab experience!</p> <p>For those who don't know (I didn't), Bite does some really nice lipsticks, and their LipLab is a service they provide where they customize lipsticks to your skintone, personal style and taste, etc. My gift card enabled us to each get two bespoke lipsticks, and we decided to go for a 'perfect nude' and then a sort of daytime pop colour (so a bit brighter, but nothing crazy).</p> <p>Our makeup artist was nothing short of amazing. She started by custom blending a lipstick that was literally a perfect match to our natural lip colour (I mean, you could barely see it once it was on) - this was the base for our 'nude'. To mine, she added a little extra pink; to SILs, she added more of a warm red (her skintone is a lovely warm golden tone, vs. my cool pink tone). This is the first nude I've actually felt happy wearing; it doesn't go too warm or cool, and it provides just enough definition to be worthwhile.</p> <p>For the 'pop' colour, I wanted a berry, while SIL opted to add more orangey red to her nude tone to create a brighter look. It was so cool to see how the artist somehow took beige, peach, pink, red, and ink blue to create a perfectly wearable berry tone that suits me to a 't'.&nbsp;</p> <p>Having determined our custom blends, we then chose our scent (I went vanilla) and finish (I went with a sheen for the brighter, and satin for the nude). She then whipped up the mixture in a larger quantity, shook it in a contraption something like a miniature paint can shaker, and poured the mix into a mold. A few minutes later, voila! Two beautiful lipsticks each, in very nice cases. (shown below, though the colour difference is harder to see in this photo).</p> <p>I will say this was not cheap - the total cost for the four lipsticks was a little over $300 (replacing your custom mix is marginally cheaper). BUT given that I have a drawful of 'not quite right' lipsticks, I would say that it's money well spent if it's an option and you find yourself near a location. And a fun process to boot!
