I have a few cashmere sweaters from Everlane - they are reasonably priced but probably not the best quality. I found the black to be thicker than the navy, as I recall (might be the other way around, it's been a few seasons since I wore them!). Keep an eye on their website, they will probably release a new supply of sweaters soon.
https://www.everlane.com/

Post on Everlane cashmere (read the comments too):
http://www.lesantimodernes.com.....-silk.html

Excellent post on cashmere in general:
http://amidprivilege.com/2009/.....oats-are-i

Firstly MsMaven thanks for your reply on my post. I agree it is very hard to find that decent quality at an affordable price. I buy my cashmere in charity shops or thrift stores as the shapes don't change much and the best quality lasts a lifetime.

Not inexpensive, but my best cashmere has been from Brora:
http://www.brora.co.uk/

I've found it doesn't pill and seems to last longer than Bompard. I've had one Brora sweater that I purchased about 10 years ago that still looks good, so, if you figure CPW, it works out to being less expensive than buying cheaper cashmere that pills and loses its shape after a couple of years.

I have a V-neck from Eric Bompard in navy, and it's definitely not flimsy. DH has one in brown. We like them very much. They do show some wear, though. We bought them a year ago. I think mine is good for one more season, or two, but then I'll have to replace it. I think they are worth the money. Merino is a great alternative, though. It lasts much longer, and is also very soft.

I've just gotten a new Navy sweater that I cannot WAIT to wear out! It is not v-neck, but it is such a beautiful drape and fit, I highly recommend:

https://www.everlane.com/colle.....ch-bc-navy

ETA - NOT cashmere. But, I have come to think that only the very, very pricey cashmere is worth it. All my cashmere pilled after only a year, even one sweater I paid almost $300 for! My mother has a $500 cashmere sweater coat from a shop that has been around for years selling only cashmere and it is an heirloom...I think Annagybe has a sweater of her dads that is the same quality. So hard to get these days, though, since cashmere has become the normal thing to expect. I suspect the supply chain has become inundated with lower quality thread.

Not cheap but I know Ironkurtin raves about their quality

Striped sleeved one is on sale

All else fails I've gotten good cashmere at Costco, but it's usually closer to the holidays.

Have you tried Lands' End? When I last looked, they had the basic styles, and I have one of their cashmere sweaters that's 20 years old and there's not a pill on it.

The one Ines features as a must have in her book. Where is it? I looked for a navy V-neck last year and couldn't find one--seems like all the blue sweaters were teal.

I read about Eric Bompard sweaters on a couple of blogs and checked them out. Seems like they would be the right ones--but a wee bit expensive. I've been looking at the "usual suspects," department and chain stores and am not seeing many of the classic sweater styles. I don't want one that is too thin--I don't care what J. Crew calls their cashmere--I call it flimsy.

If anyone has seen a good cashmere V-neck for a reasonable price, please tune in here.

Parisian Chic: A Style Guide by Ines de la Fressange
