And check out the custom options. I'm tempted by the reflective silver.

Ooh. This is great to know - I'm always looking for sneakers or shoes that can accommodate my orthotic. (I'd have to rip the insole out, like I do with my Converse.)

I like the look of these with the shiny toe. Comfort is so important.

Lisa, these spacers-kind of like a thin and light version of yoga toes--are supposed to be worn during weight bearing activity. I've tried wearing them at night, too, but I always inevitably end up kicking them off.

Jules, I ended up stumbling on these by doing a search on Zappos for sneakers and saw these gorgeous Raf Simons silver leather sneakers. They seemed to fit, but the sale price was still much more than I'm willing to pay for sneakers that can't be repaired. There were some pretty funky patterns elsewhere. I was tempted by the black version of these, but thought a pop of white would do some of my outfits good.

I understand having an aversion to certain celebrities (although I'm not 100% sure who's most associated with these shoes), but I figure the shoe came first, the celebrity is but a flash in the pan And personally, I appreciate any stylish images that popularize comfortable shoes for women. I have a personal aversion to pure white shoes, and a life-long devotion to Converse anyway, but some of the lightly tweaked Stan Smiths such as yours are getting my attention - I almost ordered a snakeprint version a few months back. And I know Converse don't provide enough padding and support for many.
Speaking of sneaks my latest infatuation was with these Brooks Heritage Vanguard - alas after I ordered they became unavailable. The colours weren't necessarily the best for my wardrobe anyway.

Stan Smith's are among my very favourite court shoes and have been since I was a teenager. I have narrower feet and ended up buying the kids version - less expensive, and narrower foot bed, plus.....orthopedic insole included Glad to hear you have found something to work for you! I'm surprised to read that you wear those toe spacers inside shoes. I use them in the evenings or overnight . Do you use connected ones, or just the little silicone individuals?

I like these shoes. I don't have a negative association either. I bought a pair during NAS. I don't have wide feet, but still think they're very comfortable. I wear my insoles whenever I can. I've had them for 17 years!

I am glad you found them and they work so well for you. I have no negative associations with these shoes and I love them for so many reasons. I have resisted getting a white pair because I know if I did I would wear them exclusively and other white shoes in my wardrobe would become orphans. I am so tempted though, especially based on your comments here.

I initially dismissed the Stan Smith trend for two reasons. First, it had a strong association with a particular person. I never buy items to emulate somebody, but I will opt out of trends if they're spawned by certain individuals or families. And second, I didn't think they'd fit.

That said, in the past few days, I decided to give to them a try because I was getting desperate for a pair of zero-drop sneakers that would stick to the gym floor while I benched. Funny, right? Not the most sartorial of motivations, I admit.

When I went to order them, I learned that they were a D width, ideal for wider feet. Even better, they're flat and can easily accommodate 3/4 dress orthotics on top of the insole. You could easily rip the insole out, too, if you wanted. Now, I hadn't considered the orthotic factor in my shoe hunt in years because I've been wearing a kind of toe retainer (fixed toe spacers). Unfortunately, the combination of that retainer and my Sorel wedges, I believe, has given me a painful corn or spur between my toes, leaving me in search of a pair of shoes that can accommodate orthotics. I didn't think the gym and orthotic solution might lie in this pair of shoes, but that very well might be the case. Plus, they look ok, too.
