(I just edited my poor grammar and spelling).

Your black dress combo sounds lovely. How about a smart signature Christie scarf? Very Euro.

Suits become funky when you add the right accessories and top. Do you think you’d like to give this a bash?

I only have one dress that I think would be appropriate (most of my dresses are made for warmer weather). It is a black, suit dress, sheath, sleeveless. I could wear it with a button down or turtleneck underneath and knee-high, heeled boots or heels. Does that sound right?

Unfortunately, I only have a brown pantsuit or a gray-striped skirt-suit.

I wouldn't wear smart casual either. I'd wear an ultra tailored pinstripe suit with all the funky girly trimmings, or a dress. How about a dress?

That's the difficult question. I am generally more comfortable in smart casual, but I'm afraid that jeans will be too casual for this event. I know that my husband would be very reluctant to wear jeans. I imagine that there will be people there wearing jeans, but most, I assume, will be dressed more on the business casual side. That's probably what I'm thinking of unless you can suggest a good alternative.

Super Christie! I know that you love your clothes and enjoy looking the part. What would YOU like to wear to the Opera? Are you thinking semi formal, business casual or smart casual? Once we’ve secured your outfit, we’ll get hubby to match.

My husband and I are going to see Le Nozze di Figaro this weekend (his anniversary present to me, so sweet!). We live in a small town with a world class performing arts scene because of the University's reputation for performing arts. The Opera is one of those world-class events.

When we've gone to see plays or music shows the crowd is mixed: jeans and t-shirts for students, "dressed up" for the adults (here this varies widely, but no suits generally. Often, men fall back on their manform for lack of other choice), and then your run-of-the-mill aging hippy that we have tons of here (they tend to dress like the students or worse). The Opera, though, I don't know. The theater is beautiful, so I'm not sure whether to do dressed-up (this is not New York, keep in mind) or something else. Any thoughts? We'll probably do a late-late dinner afterwards at a local wine bar/jazz bar.

Thanks. (and bonus points if you can tell me what my husband should wear)
