An iron might help, but I think this problem often occurs with zippered softer knits because of the stretch differential between the flexible knit and the stiff material of the zipper and its housing. It can also get more pronounced with washing or wearing, as one fabric relaxes or shrinks and the other one does not, and this often occurs at stress points (like the bust on a more fitted sweater). This is why I don't like to put zippers in my handknits actually.
