It is keeelling me not seeing these on the both of you! You know I like a deal, but I agree that by the time I found the perfect ankle boots and the perfect chaps in just the right shade...either winter would be over or the price would be the same. Una, no sorries allowed!!

Yikes now you have me wanting the Okalas, too... Miles of walking in Vegas eh? Should lay off, though...

I wish I had time to post pictures! I love these boots both ways, but am worried they are too much for me in tall form. They are not as sleek on me as they look on Rae, but I really need to take pics for opinions. I am dying to wear them but if they aren't right it would be a pricy mistake!

Janet post some pics!

I'd be sorry I found these but it looks like they have made some of us very happy!

I so understand that...same here, allready have the boots and chaps but they are pretty mucky from riding and I cannot get myself to buy some for 'other' use. I think those look so fun and would make it easier for me to buy it all together also Are the uggs warm?

Jayne, I meant to mention -- I love the look of chaps! But I don't really have plain short boots that would look good with chaps, so the Uggs give me the whole package. I guess by the time I would buy simple black chelsea boots plus chaps, it wouldn't be all that much cheaper than the Uggs, and the Uggs are incredibly comfortable. That footbed! Ahhh!

I want to wear the Okalas tomorrow. I've been waiting for the right day. This week has turned very warm again, so no boots for a few more days.

Yesterday I wore a pair of platform sandals (the only ones I hadn't put away for the season) and walked about four miles in them. Mistake. They are really comfortable, but I'd never walked that amount in them before -- I have a blister on the top of one foot where a strap rubbed now. I think the Okalas will work nicely tomorrow, since they don't hit that spot at all! I just won't walk four miles in them on the first day.

I'm an Okala fan - been meaning to post. got them in black, and wore them last week while in Vegas. I wore them for a seriously long time and walked miles (literally).

I have wide feet and they are really great, absolutely no discomfort, and it was my first time out in them.

Several compliments, including from my Mom (always the compliment to strive for!)

I am thinking about getting the ones you posted, too.

Nice shoes and boots Janet!

@Jayne, they're called chaps in English too. I get a catalog from a saddlery and I've been super temped to try some of the less expensive leather chaps to convert my ankle boots. That might be the only way to fit my slim calves, which seem out of proportion with my average-large feet.

I am just giggling here. These are riding boots with a short chaps. I wear them every week when I ride. and yup, it is always a too step process, first the boot, then the chaps. (I don't know if they are called chaps in english, I started riding here in Norway and never learned all the english terms).

But I have several times considered buying a pair for use in the city, ie, ones I won't get dirty using riding. Because they are so comfortable after a little wear and stretch. And in general, the look is soooo cool. I cannot wait to see you style them.

Una, if these Uggs are too tall, seriously consider going to a horse/riding store and buy a pair of chaps that fit you. They come in all sizes and variations on quality/price.

Heh, it was pretty awkward trying to get the whole boot on with the tall part attached, so I took it off, slipped on the shaft portion, then put on the Chelsea boot, and rebuckled the straps. Maybe I can do what you did, Rae, with a little practice.

I could actually wear the boots as-is and they would likely stretch out gradually a bit with wear, but I figure stretching them would make it easier on me. In fact, I should take one other pair to the cobbler too, just to get a bit more comfort out of my other borderline boots. Comfort is becoming more of a priority for me!

Rae, have you discovered any special tricks for putting them on? That's the one drawback of the dual-style boot -- it's a two-step process to put them on in tall boot mode!

Ooh, so glad you tried them! Honored to be a possible boot twin with you. I wore them in chelsea boot mode yesterday, and they were super comfy for work. Is it just .25" that needs to stretch? I think it could work!

Ceit, my calf circumference on the larger leg is 14.75". I think that's fairly average, but it makes some boots like these just barely on the edge of tight.

I almost wore the Okalas out of the house today, but I had a lot of walking on the agenda, so I stuck with my Sperrys. I will probably try a few stylings before committing to them.

Good to know others have had success with stretching! I'm tempted to try the home stretching method...

They both look like Janet shoes to me. I think sarah had her Frye Campus (?) stretched in the calf with success so I imagine that would be a good solution.
Agreeing that this place can be dangerous to the pocket book :)

Y'all are dangerous around here.

I ordered the Sam Edelman Okala ankle strap pumps in the black and white with tan, and also Rae's black Ugg convertible boots in black. Both are supremely comfortable. I was compelled to try the Okalas after I saw them in a local store but in a different color (the tan animal print with black strap). I thought I'd try them on to see how the size ran and to see if they were comfortable and seemed like they'd be versatile. I liked them well enough that I decided to order the black and white version (I already have a couple of tan animal print, and I've been wanting some b&w footwear).

I also had to try Rae's convertible Ugg boots after seeing them here. I love the idea of dual purpose boots, and the style is just unique enough while still being sleek and a bit rock'n'roll. My current low-heeled black boots are still in decent shape, but they are suede and they're 6 or so years old, so I know this is a good time to start calling for backup.

The footbed of the Uggs is so comfortable! I like how they look on me, but the calves are just a bit snug with jeans tucked into them. Well, that is, ONE calf is snug. My left calf is distinctly bigger than my right (like everything else on me!).

I am thinking a cobbler might be able to stretch the width of that left boot shaft for me. Do you think that would work?

Sorry, no pics yet. Tried them on in a rush before leaving the house today. I think they may both be keepers if I can get that boot stretched.
