I'm not wearing my silk Equipment shirts for the same reasons as Adelfa. Not wearing jeans enough. Also not using my leather jackets, more from lack of opportunity than lack of desire to wear them. :( Other than that, I'm in struggle mode with my hair and obsessed with that change. Kind of over statement necklaces and complex outfits for myself, although I still am drawn to both. A bit over certain shades of grey.

I'm over hunting for the perfect white shirt and for culottes. Have yet to find either.

It's hard to tell what I'm "over" because I feel kind of unsorted generally...

I'm over shoes that hurt! I'm weaning myself off sky-high heels and learning to love lower heels. And whatever the heel height, if it hurts it's going out the door!!

I'm also kind of over scarves, after having spent the past few years wearing scarves almost every day. Maybe that will change when the weather cools off...

I'm over cropped items and I'm over material that is too thin and light. Blouses that are too sheer, tees of material that's too thin, and sweaters that are too lightweight to have any shape. I'm also over the whole idea of "joy" and "clothing". I can like something and think I look good in it - joy? No.

I'm over distressed denim for the moment. I find I am reaching more for the more refined darker pieces at the moment. I'm glad that I have a little of everything so that I can have the choice! I'm heading to a more minimalist look now...

Since I don't keep items in my closet that I don't enjoy wearing ... I guess I'm not really "over" anything in particular.
I have noticed that my closet is evolving into more neutrals and less "Color"...more brown, grey, oatmeal, ivory tones etc., and I will always have black items.

I'm all over the necklaces of ANY kind! I didn't wear my statement, or any necklaces in some years now(!), but didn't think will happen to give up on my beloved for so many years simple rigid silver choker with a pendant of a kind (have had several inter-changeables).
It seems this is what's doing me shorter hair (+specs) and bigger contrasted wardrobe.

Like so many others I am over fluid for sweaters and blouses - I have a closet full of them and am craving more tailored looks. Also over leather detailing on everything, zip details on necklines, exposed zippers, platform shoes, and the lace espadrille that was prominent this summer.

I'm over wedge sandals. Of all the pairs I purchased, I wear none of them. 1-2 inch flats, please.

I'm over date clothes. I haven't been on a date in over a year, and if DH and I are lucky enough to get time to ourselves, it's usually only an hour or two at the very most. No real need to keep buying for this imaginary life.

I was never into the waterfall cardigans, pencil skirts, black, or platform shoes - so I can't really say that I'm now "over them."

Things I used to wear that I am now over include: pattern mixing, tube skirts, tuxedo jackets, lace-up fashion sneakers (still like the slip-on kind), leggings, tunics, studded shoes/handbags,scarfs, and ankle boots/booties (although I am still wearing the ones that I have - just not going to buy anymore.)

Things I'd like to be over, but out of practicality, I am not: skinny jeans (the new boot-cuts and flares are not practical or comfortable for my life-style.)

Still love my BF jeans, my roomy skinnies, and anything oversized - especially my denim vest and denim jacket!

I"m charmed by this bag, which I don't own and never will. I can't say that I insist that people don't notice my clothing before me - because my outfits can be attractive and I do like some noticeable colors. But I don't want to wear anything intriguing - to be studied too long or to wonder why the heck someone would wear something like that. So to start with, I'm over mixing prints, unless with small touches or a menswear subdued kind of way. So I ask myself about items, outfits, "Is this a giant red koi?"

Waterfall cardigans, got rid of all of them. Black puffer coats, in January they are a uniform here. I will continue to wear mine. I noticed last year red puffers are starting to show up a bit.
Minimalism for the sake of more shopping. Poor quality garments at premium prices. And, statement necklaces, big bold, with colorful stones. They were nice when they had some quality, now they are everywhere, at every price point.

I tried skinny jeans but I've learned that I have skinny legs--guess it wasn't such an issue before. I've yet to find a pair that fit me right--maybe a woman needs to be an hourglass to look good in them. I'll be glad to see the end of them.

I've never liked loose over-sized clothing. I hate it when I buy a top in my regular size and then it falls off my shoulders when I wear it. I like semi-tailored clothing and would love to see more of it again. Not buttoned up tight, but just a nice fit that skims the body.

I don't like really long tops either. True, some people wear them really well, probably the same ones who look good in skinny pants. I bought three tunics earlier this year and can't stand wearing any of them.

Cheap lace on dressy dresses. I've looked at so many lace embellished or lacy dresses the last few months. Occasionally something looks good in an online photo, but when I look at it in person, it just seems cheap and tacky. I have seen some lace tops for casual that look very nice.

Thanks for starting this thread, Janet. Nothing like a good rant!

I'm finished with fashion blogs--except for this one. I find Angie's outfits interesting because I like her analysis and explanations. I don't want to dress like Angie, but I do want to think like her when it comes to putting my own outfits together.

I'm also over eye-searing colours; poorly made clothing; and mass-market "statement" pieces (How can it be MY statement when it is everyone else's at the same?) If we dress today to please and express ourselves through our clothes, how did we end up with streets filled with women with identical rips and tears in their jeans?

I'm also over "designer" labels that make us think we are buying a "luxury" item when we are not--and making us feel like fools for falling for the name when the item falls apart after a few months. I'm also over "outlet" shopping and sales events that trick us into thinking we are shopping wisely when we are not.

Well, apart from uncomfortable shoes, from which I get no relief, I seem to be over black. This comes as a surprise, because black tops have long been my go-to, but I find my few voluminous black silk blouses overwhelmingly dark. It might be a seasonal thing, though, and I might not be over that if I wear colour close to my face.

I'm generally'over 95% of my tops, mostly because I find them too short, non-breathable, or sleeveless. I'll save the Adea tops for the odd time I wear a pencil skirt, but I'm feeling desperate for a slim fit airy white blouse.

I'm also over my current hairstyle, but with long, slightly wavy, and an Einsteinian frizzy halo, I can't seem to find alternatives that could work that would maintain hair length. Conundrums.

I'm over trying to wear pants that don't make me feel fab...BF jeans, wide leg pants, slouchy soft pants, and jogger styles. I understand being over skinnies but slim (not tight) leg pants just feel so much more flattering to me. And I am loving my flare jeans because of the good fit through the thighs.

I'm also over the Vince Camuto tube skirts, at least for office wear. I am still wearing the black/gray kind of stormy patterned one but I shortened two others (to just above the knee) to wear casually.

With bags, I seem to be over adding any more satchels, though I still love to use the ones I have. I would like to add one or two bags for fall/winter and am leaning toward a clutch as it feels like a better fit for sleek looks, rather than a more slouchy style.

Finally, I am trying to get over being a lemming!

Not sure what I'm over - black isn't a color I reach for too much any more I guess (but I do on occasion have a desire to wear it so I'm keeping my black cashmere v-neck, LBD and long trench because they are classic).

I'm over trying to find stripes that work for me and have finally accepted that I just don't like wearing stripes (except for some striped shoes) - though I enjoy them on others. In fact, I am somewhat over busy patterned tops of any sort right now - the patterned items I have tend to sit in the closet far too often. Maybe once fall starts and I can layer a little to relieve my eye.

What I am into now is texture - and I want more texture in my new purchases.

I still love jeans and doubt I will ever be fully over them - I like them in many forms - skinny, straight, slightly flared, med wash, light wash - pretty much the whole gamut except for high waisted (on me). I'm a jeans girl at heart. The jeans with the pulled out hems Angie and others linked to recently were interesting to me because they have a bit of "texture" in the bottom.

Linda, I've also been on a break from statement necklaces, and bracelets/cuffs too. I don't want to purge all of my jewelry, but I'm definitely wearing less of it these days. My wedding rings, a watch, and some smallish stud earrings these days seem to be all I'm wanting to add to my outfits, with the occasional long or short pendant, depending on the neckline I'm wearing. The exception being a statement ring on my right hand -- I feel naked if I forget to put on one when I leave the house!

I've been over traditional trousers and cardigans for quite a while and have gotten rid of all but a few. Should get rid of more.

Agree with Janet - those super big platforms look ridiculous on me these days. I'll still wear somewhat high heels and a bit of a platform (in the office, not walking around the city), but the really extreme stuff has been donated.

On a break from statement necklaces and am favoring long pendants lately.

I got into the Kondo way and it definitely helped me "sort" but I'm less inclined to reach and buy. Now I pause and browse and intentionally buy.

I'm over settling for jewelry that isn't genuinely interesting, esp necklaces. I love lighting fixtures and I love necklaces--whatever hangs in my home and around my neck, I want to combine beauty and function.

Fun reading your responses.

Generally, I am over the abundance of ripped and highly distressed denim (the market is FLOODED). I'm off exaggerated slouch and body con too.

Personally, I'm over blue BF jeans (love my white). I am this close to passing on all my blue pairs (have already passed on one pair). I'm very bored with my Tippi sweaters and tuxedo shirts - and anything else too masculine. I'm also quite bored with designer wear at retail because it's predominantly black and grey. I'm finding that mainstream is doing much more stuff that suits my style preferences.

For myself i am a but over oversized , droped waist silhouette . I still like my skinnies but I will wear them with more streamlined toppers.
Regarding purging, I have done a lot of it recently but am also a little irked by a certain brand of minimalism that only means purging to buy new things. Also I am too much of a control freak to let someone else tell me how to fold my sweaters ....

Rachy and Staysfit, I'm kind of over Marie Kondo/minimalism too! At least taken to extreme. I don't want to be a candidate for Hoarders, but I feel like a certain brand of minimalism has gotten trendy, and I'm not moved by it.

Staysfit, I'm also over being a lemming. I am not getting rid of my slip-on sneakers or moto jackets because other people have moved on from them. In fact, my silver sneakers get compliments every time I wear them, they suit my life and my style well, and I still enjoy them. I also don't feel so compelled to buy an item that is popular, but then I've never been much for popularity for popularity's sake. If I *love* it, I'll buy it and wear it regardless of how many people do or don't adopt it --until it reaches a certain point where I feel like my eyeballs are saturated with a look and it starts to turn me off. I guess a lot of that -- and a lot of what we're talking about in this thread -- is highly dependent on our individual societal norms. Interesting to consider, since we're all from different geographical locations, climates, etc.

Thanks for all the responses! Fun and enlightening read.

Evidently, I'm largely over pants and trousers as a whole, with the exception of my jeans - I find myself reaching past them for skirts almost without fail. I haven't worn a pair of trousers in a few months, judging from my spreadsheet, and though I wore a pair of skinnies today, they feel very... Bleh. I much prefer all of my other denim - flares, pipes, straights, and BFs - to the skinnies, but I am excited about bringing out my boots again... Which often means skinnies, because I like to see my lovely boots!

Yes to everyone who's over skinnies but still wearing them. I need them to pair with my fave oversized sweaters, but feel bored and un fab in them--and all that messing around with hems and boots so I don't look like an ice skater.

YES to Unfrumped on wanting to be over the worry of 'Is it in or out?' I still love my baggy BFs but haven't been wearing them as I worry they're dated.

Yes, Yes to Gryffin's 1 and 2 about quality and conscious manufacturing. And to Beth Ann on flimsy drape. All the NAS long cardis grabbed my bum in a very unflattering way.

And yes to Staysfit on migraines -- I hope you get over them soon.

Great question, Janet. Thanks for posting!

I'm over the color black. I've always been over it though so maybe that doesn't count.

I'm over coloring my hair! Done! Whatever it looks like I will live with.

I'm over shopping too much and over stuffing my closet! It's one in one out!

I'm kind of over Marie Kondo. Helpful to a point but a little syrupy sweet. "Does it bring you joy?"

I'm over lemming behavior. I'm not sure how much of a lemming I am, but I am trying hard to stay true to my own aesthetic, and to maintain my unique style. This one is particularly hard when asking opinions of others on the forum. I think it takes some fortitude and confidence to read posts, look at finds and listen to feedback and put it to use in a creative way. If not, you could end up with a closet full of clothing that didn't feel like it was truly your own.

I am over fit and flare dresses and boot cut or flare legs, and culottes. All are out for me!

Mostly I want to be over migraine headaches!

Since my move, my work is in flux, and a professional reinvention is in progress, or will be shortly. I find I'm just wearing the things that are most pleasing and flattering, and letting the rest lie.

I'm over my bf jeans, and I'm frustrating with slouchy knitwear tops that are too thin to drape well. "Drape" should not be limp and skimpy!
