i love a chunky heel with height. for me, the chunkier the heel, the higher the shoe must be.

I think if you have a strong classic element to your style, or like wearing more classic shoes, these would totally work. I much prefer the contrast heel of the second pair though, that looks more modern to me.

I love them. I really wanted to buy a pair of green patent ones at Winner's the other day, but tried to keep focused on booties. I love the shape, though.

They don't read granny to me as much as conservative country club maven which is something my must-still-be-anti-establishment mind still rebels against!

I think they can be styled to appear very modern but it's not a look I will rush to embrace.

I have been seeing tons of these around, especially with little bits of shiny gold trim. I like that they have a low heel and aren't totally flat, but they do seem very granny-ish to me. Maybe I'm just not trendy enough in my approach to fashion to pull them off?

I have granny associations for this kind of shoe. I don't think I would wear them, but I try to never say never. I would just say they need to be styled thoughtfully to not look frumpy to my eye.

I have a preference for chunky heels and own shoes similar. I feel this look has a classic feel, even a touch of retro depending on how worn. Love them.

I've seen so many low shoes like this recently and they definitely read "granny" to me too. But then, so did smoking flats a few months ago (but not now). Mixed with a really modern look, I do think they feel fresh and different:)

I have two pairs of Marc Jacobs ballet "flats" (one black, one red, otherwise identical) from about 4 years ago with a heel like that. I love them and I remember they got Angie's thumbs up back then too.

I think they are very modern & granny. How can they be both? It depends who you ask. Do you dress only for yourself? There will be less fashion forward folk & a lot of men who would find them granny but I think they are fashion forward. So I voted nay because I like to be attractive to my husband & he would find them granny. Queen Elizabeth wears shoes like that.

I also like #2. I, in fact, have red patent ballet 'flats' with a silver heel very similar.

I like the second one. That little gold heel seems to be right on-trend. J. Crew (and some other designers) is/are showing one(s) like that in which the heel is just a tad lower. I don't like the first one quite as well for some reason. Are they the same shoe? I would say a definite "yay" for the second one.

Ok, so it's a comfortable shoe. I've tried them on and they comfier than a regular ballet flat, especially for those that can't do totally flat shoes.

But isn't that heel too granny-like? I think my late grandma used to wear a pair like those when she was 70... oh, wait, hers were actually more modern looking and higher.

I might just need to get used to this 'new' style. At least it is a comfy option! :P

YAY = I like it!
NAY = Not in an entire era!
