Sorry I'm so late returning here - and now it's time for a confession. The suit is still here :)

But I'm still returning it. It doesn't fit now and even with weight loss, I don't know how it will fit later.

Can you stand to hear from me a third time? Because rae and Claire have excellent points. Check the deadline for returns (I think it's a year) and give it a little time? Unless you need the money released quickly, I don't see the harm in it either. Just because it sounds like such a great suit. And in the meantime a better suit may come along...or may not...but you'd have this one on hold.

Rae took the words right out of my mouth. Unless you need the money back now, you could wait until you fit into it and then return it if it's not the right cut for you (or if you're tired of looking at it).

Doesn't Nordies allow returns for like... forever? I am not sure if that still stands in Canada but, if it does like it does here, I say keep until you're on your fitness plan and can re-try it.

I think you made the right decision to return it, although I could be easily be persuaded in the other direction too (I'm afraid). Deborah makes a good point about your not knowing exactly how it will fit when you lose the weight, and who knows that you will not spot an even better suit in the meantime.

I've never had luck judging whether would something would fit well when I lost weight. I don't lose proportionately and there was always something off with the fit even when I got to goal weight. And yes sometimes it feels good to return, to just walk away from a mistake and not hate it and yourself forever.

Hmm, Shannon. Ten pounds is not a huge amount of weight. Of course, we're all different, and if you thought it would take a year, let's say, to go down, that would be a problem.

Considering the costs in returning the suit, I'm leaning toward keeping. Not 100% though--what does your gut instinct say? That's always the best voice to listen to.

As expensive a return as it is, I am returning it. I will get a decent amount back, although not all. I don't want to count on fitting it "one day".

Its funny how things that you use as motivation can work against you. I rarely find it works out and when you lose the weight, the shape may not work depending on how and where you lose.

You know the Jones store carries a lot of Anne Klein suits and they have a fairly substantial petite section. I bought a few nice suits there at really good prices. Why not swing over and try a few on and see how they compare and then decide.

Shannon, I desperately need to lose about 6 pounds myself and I could use a similar motivation, I sooooo understand. Was the item too pricey? If you will still get a chunk of change after the return costs, I'd say return. If not, use it as motivation.

Having an article of clothing that is too small to wear hanging in your closet is tricky. It can motivate and depress at the same time. At least that's my experience.

Personally, I found it easier to lose the pounds when I put the focus on eating properly and telling myself that, as long as the general direction was downwards (or, at a minimum, stayed the same) I was doing OK. I know some women can lose 10 pounds very quickly, but, for me, it took a couple of months.

The return costs are a nightmare, Deb.

Shannon, I am so sorry it doesn't fit - what a shame!!!

I am not sure what to advise. Ordinarily I believe we should dress the body we have. But if it is simply a question of losing 5 or 10 pounds to fit into it, well....that is going to happen soon. The question is, will it be soon enough? Is this suit going to be the suit you want in the spring (when you'll likely fit it)? Or will you be longing for something that looks quite different then?

I think some people are very motivated by the sight of a garment they want to fit into. When I was in the weight loss phase a bunch of women in the group had a "skinny jeans" challenge; most had never worn skinnies due to body image issues and so as a challenge and commitment to themselves, several bought pricey skinnies that they hoped to fit into at their goal weight.

In many cases, they lost more weight and had to buy NEW skinnies!

Thanks Kristin and Deborah.

Kristin - it's interesting you mention hanging up the clothes as motivation. It was an LBD that got me on my weight loss journey about 10 years ago.

Deborah - unfortunately they do not have a size up in the suit as they were sold out. I think you are right in that I should return it. The returns are hefty but at least I'll get something back and there is no point in keeping something that I can't wear.

Merry Christmas Shannon:). I am going to say return. I am sorry that the sizing isn't right. I have every faith that you're fitness regime will be super successful but that won't necessarily guarantee a good fit. I'm of the opinion that what we buy has to fit and work for us now. Can you size up? sounds like the size up may be too big?? Are the return costs really that hefty

...too small :(

The fabric is absolutely gorgeous - navy herringbone with a subtle sheen. The shape and detailing on the jacket is beautiful. Here's the original link http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....uit-for-me

But I can't quite get the pants done up and although the jacket buttons, it's snug. I would say it's one size too small.

So here's the question: it "just about" fits and I have committed to a new health and fitness regime after the holidays and I do love this suit. Do I keep it as incentive to fit in about 10 pounds from now? or do I just ship it back to Nordstrom, losing a chunk of change due to return shipping costs and loss of duty and call it a day?
