I figured you probably weren't asking me if I was planning on buying a pukka Chanel jacket (oh, that I could!), but I just wanted to make sure. I appreciate you clarifying. Buying a vintage Chanel jacket was something that hadn't even crossed my mind, but might be a good idea. I think I will wait though, until I become more familiar with what I should be looking for, since I don't know much about the specifics of the brand, I'd hate to get ripped off. I will research it, though (it'll be fun!), and keep this in mind for the future. I like the Semantic jacket Shell recommended and I saw that one on the Nordstrom website, but I think I'm looking for something a little more edgy. Maybe with bigger checks/tweediness, like the one Mischa Barton is wearing, but 3/4 sleeves, and not so much "sleeve hair." I first saw the black/white piped blazer a few years(?) ago in a magazine and it was by Brooks Brothers. They no longer carry it, but I just fell in love with the look, and I think I would wear it a lot. I love the Rag and Bone jacket Angie just bought at the sale, but I haven't been able to find the link on the website again, so I think it may be sold out, now. :( Sarah, I like the jacket you suggested, too and have been eying that. I think maybe I would rather have a full length blazer vs. cropped. An original Chanel jacket would cost 1000’s. I thought you might be trying to track a pukka vintage one down which would probably cost 100’s. I say you go for a fab little replica. This is what I’ve done and it works. The St. John jacket is fabulous and fits the bill well. Pass on the Semantics one. I’ve seen it, tested it, and it’s not up to scratch. I have the jacket you want hanging in my wardrobe (sorry!) It’s three quarter sleeves and looks exactly like the one in the Vogue picture. I bought it in Canada a few years ago. I love it. Items like that (for my style) don’t date. This is why the Rag & Bone jacket was a no brainer. I’ve seen the jacket Sarbear suggests and it’s no great shakes in the flesh. The tweed jacket Shell suggests is great . The NL style from Inge is beautiful. Try ebay. You might have luck. I (of course) would DIE to own a Chanel jacket, but I'd definitely be saving my pennies for several years. It might be something I would eventually do, but anywhere in the near future it's not really in the cards. But I would like a tweed jacket that is similar in styling to a Chanel jacket. I guess I was looking for a collarless version because it seems lighter and a bit more casual, but if I found one with a collar that I liked, I'd be open to that too. I would ideally want 3/4 sleeves as well, since it's so warm down here. I was thinking that for color, I would probably want something in black and white tweed--that would work best in my wardrobe. St. John does copies every season. I personally prefer the cuts WITH a collar and Chanel does those too. You need a tweed in a punchier colour cause you’re fair skinned. The jacket is retro and modern classic. When worn with the right items, there’s nothing matronly about the look. I'd like to copy it, but I need some guidance on the tweed jacket. I think collarless tweed jackets can look matronly if you're not careful. Is the color of this tweed jacket, or the cut what make it sort of fresh and youthful? What should I look for when I'm buying a tweed jacket? I have an orange one that has a collar that I love, so I'm looking for more the "traditional" round neck jacket, I think. I would probably pair it with a similar shirt (I actually think I have a white shirt with a cowl neck just like the one she is wearing), but instead of ultra wide leg jeans, I'd probably go with either trousers or skinny/straight leg jeans and heels or boots, or booties.
