Big yes from me! I didn't used to be on team pockets, but now I am. Everything goes in the wash straightaway if worn in the outside world. No heels over 2 inch now, but usually birkies. And only stud earrings cause they don't compete w masks.

Sarah, I did occasionally use some of it, but not often enough to want to carry it all with me now. The way I had it packed so carefully, it fit into a tiny crossbody, but it's still more than I want to mess with now, even though I still carry the bag. Logistically, it doesn't make sense to me--I could've had those things in the car, and now the bag is all I have when I'm away from home, but it still doesn't bother me. And I call myself logical, lol

Fashintern unnecessary because of different logistics or unnecessary because it was no longer practical to carry all that stuff around and you realized you never needed it anyway?

Janet, you have my sympathy!

I have carried tiny crossbody bags for years. While in Tampa, I had a very carefully packed purse organizer with things like band-aids, a pen, small notebook, needle & thread, safety pins, a comb...probably 50 items. I was surprised at how unnecessary that all seemed once we moved here. I walk, bike or take public transit whereas I used to drive everywhere. These days my bag contains my phone, hand sanitizer, cord & extra battery for my phone, nail file & buffer, lipstick (it stains the masks, but I like my lips moisturized), a small totebag that folds up to fit on my keychain, a pen, and keys.

LBD, this makes sense for you and others. Got to run with it and own it!

Crossbody bags and sneakers are an absolute necessity for me since I am always on foot, and often with Sam in tow. No driving! Live in the city, you see. No lipstick and no rings at the moment - but other than that - my style is exactly the same (plus mask). Bags more important that ever! High five to Shevia and Suz!

I have 3-4 pairs of shorts in rotation (plus whatever loungewear) but I am not ready for summer to end just yet!

My pockets are just deep enough to get me through the grocery store - credit cards, pen, hand sanitizer, keys, mask... and no more. Sometimes I'll keep my clean mask on my wrist, until I get to the store, then I put it on. When I get back to my car, it goes into a bag to be washed. I don't wear a mask in my car.

I should also note, that I only take my phone in if I'm carrying a crossbody. My crossbody is an Elliott Lucca floral bag that is faux leather, and easy to wipe down. It's held up very well since purchasing it 2+ years ago, and it's been in regular rotation throughout that time.

For the grocery store, I write out a list (I keep the list on my Alexa app), in a sort of mapped-out form, so that I can get through the store quickly. Then I can toss the list when I'm done, and wipe down my pen with my hand sanitizer.

I do wish that ladies' pockets on clothing were a little deeper!

I used to work in infection control for a medical facility, so yes - I'm very careful with singing. I've had several gigs where I film at home and send the video in to an editor, who puts it together with the instrumental videos. And I've had two singing live gigs (I've honestly lost count). One was online/remote. The other was in-person show for a charity food drive - the audience being the folks standing in line waiting for food packages and other assistance, and they were at least 20 feet away. We were there to help raise money via online donations. I only take off my mask to sing. My musicians were all carefully distanced as well. I use my own mic and equipment, so that I have control over sanitizing after.

I have always had easy care clothing so that hasn't changed for me, and cross-body bags have always been my favorite. I feel like things can fall out of my pockets so prefer a bag when out and about but like my hands to be free.

These shifts all seem very sensible!

I was virtually there due to my years being the "stay home mom" - but I am definitely all about pockets these days; I think because when I'm out, I only want to touch the essentials - credit card, keys - and not root through my purse and put germs on everything in there!

Joy, LBD is a professional. I assume that she, like my friends who are a music prof teaching a singing class this semester and a theater director trying to figure out how to get anything onstage safely, is thinking very seriously about safety and reading up on the different ideas about masks, distancing, etc. It’s her job and I assume she does it well.

I’ve always hung our clothes to dry. I think you are quite right, LBD, that they last longer that way.

Summer is ending here, and I’m sad to notice that there are some things I would’ve liked to have worn that I didn’t put on once. But there’s always next year!

You have singing gigs?! We can’t have that yet without everyone masked up. My niece posts pictures of singing gigs at bars in Nebraska on Facebook. I pray that they are safe but it seems like dangerous behavior to even attend such a thing. In laws in Iowa have the virus although being careful . One is iffy if he will make it. Please think about the danger before you sing.

Confession time: with the exception of two days (when I wore a skirt) I rotated through the same two pairs of shorts (blue jean cutoffs and white jean cutoffs) and 10 different tops last month. It has less to do with the pandemic than with summer - and summer heat. Every summer (starting in May) I vow to do better, but by August...pfft!

So interesting! I'm with Shevia -- I need a bag for masks, sanitizer, and all my usual stuff when I go out. Plus my water bottle, because I'm not taking transit, I'm walking or biking. So my fallback is a backpack.

My summer wardrobe looks remarkably like Janet's at the moment. Easily laundered pieces that can take me from beach to trail to well, uh, grocery store or post office? I've had a few other outings, but not many.

The little pouch is to hold my clean unused masks...I don't wear them in the car or outdoors (unless it is a busy street). So I need a place to store them.

I have worn the below items virtually all summer on constant repeat. I don't have the energy to do much outfit creation. Getting dressed is quite utilitarian.

As quarantine has stretched on for us, I’ve actually switched gears to dressing up a bit more. I took every opportunity I had to wear my summer dresses when the weather was warm, which consisted mostly of grocery shopping, pharmacy, doctors appointments etc. And now that it’s fall I’ve been happily pulling out blazers and planning outfits even though I’m barely going anywhere. Granted my “dressed up” is only really ever smart casual anyway.

I keep my outerwear, shoes and handbags (usually a small crossbody) in the front hallway, which we’ve designated as a contaminated zone. Nothing I take out except for my phone gets brought into the house, and phone, groceries etc get disinfected before coming in. I make sure to change out of and launder my clothes if I’ve been somewhere where my clothes have been in contact with surfaces, such as an appointment at the hospital, but if I’ve been somewhere for a quick in and out I don’t necessarily wash my clothes after each wear.

So I guess the way I dress hasn’t changed too much, except for the fact that I’m less chagrined than ever about being overdressed in the super-casual community where I live!

Hand sanitizer and extra mask adds to my need for a bag rather than subtracts. I have been wearing crossbody styles for years and don't see that changing. The biggest change is a lowering tolerance for any kind of heel - not that I had much tolerance to begin with, but things seem to be getting worse. Like nemosmom I default to my birks in the heat - we will see what happens when it cools off.

Yes to it all! When I visit any indoor public place (mostly supermarkets, let’s be real), my clothes go right into the washing machine. My handbags are not getting used either...my pockets hold keys, hand sanitizer, a pen, credit card, sometimes a phone if I’m alone. So it’s easy-to-launder items for the most part. I didn’t get a chance to comment on the blog post today, but yes, Team Casual is even More Team Casual these days.

Pockets are everything! I have gone from 3-4 bags in rotation to one crossbody that I reluctantly wear if I can't fit my small bits safely in my pockets. High-fiving you on the no-fuss, easy to launder requirement, too. I can't wait for colder weather when I can make an excuse to sport a fancy jacket on my video calls ;)

Biggest piece of weirdness for me right now is shoes. I shower and get dressed every day, but if I have to go out for any reason, it takes me FAR too many minutes to pick out a shoe. I have been trying to wean myself off of defaulting to Birks, but the brain power it takes just to pick a shoe is too much. And, they feel SO weird on my feet!

Yep. I relate with all of this very much. Except I have been barely carrying a bag when I go out, and when I do it's either a crossbody or a backpack style. This Minkoff bag I got last year is my go-to.

I wash my clothes more frequently in the summer anyway, and even more so in this time, so I absolutely agree that the stuff I'm wearing now needs to stand up to the wear and the cleaning. I have been wearing skirts and dresses, but they are super casual. I'm living in stuff like the finds below.

My bestie and I were chatting yesterday, and we were talking about clothes, agreeing that we both had some beautiful pieces that we haven't worn in ages, but can't bring ourselves to let go. (We have promised ourselves that in the fall, when the temperatures drop, we are going to have an embroidered fancy jacket-wearing, socially-distanced outing).

We also talked about what we're wearing lately. Easy clothes. Non-fussed. Skirts? Not so much, except for socially distanced singing gigs - and then... nothing that requires shapewear. For the most part, shorts are the thing.

An interesting realization that came up, is that we're both reverting to more basic, easily laundered clothes. I used to wear more hand-wash and delicate items, that I babied, and I used to air blouses, skirts, shorts, etc. between wearings.

Now, if I'm out of the house - even for an hour to grocery shop - the item goes in the wash when I get home. So my clothes really have to be up to the task of increased laundering. Basic tees have become the staple item, but I dress them up with a necklace, sparkly hair clip or an occasional scarf (which gets laundered as well), and cute, comfy wedges or esapdrilles.

If for some reason, I don't have time to launder something, I didn't wear it very long, and I want to wear it again immediately, I spray it with a vodka + water mixture (1:5 ratio), and let it hang dry.

I still dry my clothes on a rack, which I think has a huge impact on the appearance and longevity of my clothes.

I've also switched almost exclusively to crossbody bags, but POCKETS are king. I'm starting to forego bringing a bag into places like the grocery store or the dentist. I lock it in my trunk, and carry a small card holder, keys, phone, and hand sanitizer in my pockets. And a pen if I know I'm going to need one.

What about y'all? What have you noticed about the behind-the-scenes of your wardrobe?
