Pil and Sveta, that is Cosmo Edward's "Travelin' Tail's" lunch box in the picture. It's filled with treats and a water bottle for the 4 hr. drive to Long Island.

Sveta and Suz - THANK YOU for gently twisting my arm that day. And Sveta, who talked sense into me that second day in Marshall's - I was considering an "impostor" blazer, very nice, just not "the one" - we ran into Sveta, and she ever-so-gently pointed me back in the direction of the BCBG. I'm so glad she did! The fit of both my BCBG blazers is perfect - it's as if Max Azria himself came and measured me and said, "We're making these blazers for you."

Karen, you look absolutely stunning! What a month! I am inwardly (well, okay, outwardly) chuckling along with Angie -- the jacket you thought you would never wear has become a workhorse! (And what a workhorse). Am I ever proud to have been one of the gentle arm-twisters that day. I swear if you had not purchased it I probably would have refused to leave the store until you did!

Every one of these outfits is great. You're hitting your style stride in a major way. It's inspiring!

Karen, you April was fab even if it was mostly casual - but no outfit with your AMAZING white BCBG blazer can be called casual - jeans or not. This blazer elevates everything to stylish and smart! Those outfits were my favorites of course! (and I am still shamelessly taking the credit for talking sense into you for getting that beauty )
I just have to ask the same question as Pil: in pic 6 - what a stylish doggy's suitcase! :-)

Thanks, everyone! Wow, Angie, K2K! I am honored. And yep, I was so concerned about "Where will I ever wear it" - and I think your reply was "Everywhere!" And I have been wearing it everywhere! I once wore a brand new, expensive dress to a restaurant - 1st time I wore the dress - and the friend sitting next to me whacked a ketchup bottle and accidentally sent ketchup flying all over my dress. I promptly got up, went in the bathroom, washed the dress out in the sink, wore the wet dress for the rest of the evening and still had a great time. I got the stains out and I still have the dress, and that was over 25 years ago. Lesson learned: Wear your good clothes everywhere! Clothes are for wearing, not hanging in a closet. Most stains can be removed.

Peri, the shoes in #7 are Sperry Top Siders. They're very comfortable.

Dav Vies, the navy/cream top is from Old Navy.

Aida, I have light taupe boots like yours on my wish list for next fall ;)

Una, the cut out blazer was worn in May, so I didn't include it here. Next month!

OK I'm sorry I didn't read your post yet (but I will I promise) I was too engrossed in all the pretty pictures. Can you just pack up all your jackets and send them to me. I love them ALL! I also like they you were playing around with plaids and checks with skirts -- very very cute!

I think all of these outfits are well proportioned and very flattering. I think we are shirt twins on the navy/cream stripe. I have several like that and just got a tunic in that exact pattern.

I must also say I really have enjoyed seeing you evolve and you find your magical groove when it comes to pulling together outfits. #1 is just killer which is why I was too busy scrolling though pics to read the content of what you wrote but as promised I will read it and update my response.

What a fabulous April you've had! Everything looks great, and I enjoy seeing both your work and casual looks together; it's always interesting to see what carries over (and what doesn't) from one to the other. The lace blazer is amazing and I'm glad it's already proving to be a workhorse. The lace-on-lace in #2 is just WOW. The color combo in #3 makes me smile ^^ Also love the blouse in #5, what fun! Your traveling outfits look perfect for the occasions, comfy and put together. Like Rachy I just adore the plaid+skirt outfits, those are super. And of course I am so tickled to have inspired the combos in #15! I like the idea of lighter boots or booties for the middle option; the other two are just right.

Karie, you are soooo fun, and sooooooo fab. I LOVED meeting you in Boston. You are a sweetheart with a gentle persona and very positive attitude. You are instantly likable and I bet your kids in the classroom adore you. As they should.

You look wonderful. And I'm chuckling at your white lace blazer becoming a workhorse. You asked, "but when will I ever wear it?" as you tried it on at BCBG. And I guess now you know (lots of hugs). It was MADE for you and you wear it beautifully.

I am faving this post, Karie. This is simply a showcase of outstanding outfits. And speaking of pretty v. simpy - you do lace the best. I feel simpy most of the time in lace. On you, it wouldn't touch simpy with a ten-foot pole. Also, you wouldn't believe how excited was when I came across your pencil skirt / plaid shirt combos. Just fab (and another thing I couldn't pull off). You've even got pearls on and there's nothing throwback about it (which would be a danger for me).

I really think you are so strong when you are doing the punk-prep connection. To be honest, I'm not sure what, if anything, I identify as punk (except the plaid); it might be in the shape and fit of the various items. You look *lean and mean*, so to speak.

Nice outfit roundup! That blazer really is perfect on you. Other than that, the plaid shirts and pencil skirts in #13 stand out to me. Something about the combination of streamlined with a little bit of fun seems to work so well for you.

The day before Angie's April Recap Newsletter came out, I was looking at my April outfits and thinking about what a casual dressing month it was. I only wore a skirt a few times the entire month!

April started in the best way possible - with the Boston Meet-up! I had the best time ever, and I learned oh-so-much from Angie and from the other fab YLFers. Here are a few of the things I learned:
1. Don't try to make the garment work for you. It either does or it doesn't, and if it doesn't, move on!
2. A good quality item is worth it. It will last for many years. Buy the best quality you can afford, for it is better to have one item of excellent quality than 5 of OK quality.
Ever the student, I took lots of mental notes during the day we spent with Angie. Early on, I found a very comfy pair of Sam Edelman flats, which I purchased, and a pretty pink Kate Spade bag, which I put back because it had a flaw. Then I hit a wall. Nothing I tried on fit. And then, near the end of the day, at BCBG, I thought, "I can do this. Take what you've learned and apply it." And there it was, I found it, my perfectly fitting blazer!

This post is getting long (my apologies!) so let's get on to the outfits.
#1 - #4 - Yep, I'm on Team Wear (and wear and wear and wear)! #1 - worn with Gap flares and a zebra print belt. #2 - worn with a lace print top. #3 - with windowpane pants. #4 - with Gap flares and an anchor print top. The BCBG saw lots of wear this month :)

#6 - Traveling pics - Left side was leaving for the Boston Meet-up, right side was Cosmo Edward and I going to Long Island to visit my friend Joanne and his girlfriend Sophie (a yorkie!)

#8 - Worn for Easter. Left side is when I was trying on outfits (hair's not done), and the right side is from the actual day.

#9 - #12 - More casual outfits.

#13 - Dressy skirts made casual with plaid tops.

#14 - #15 - I had already worn #14 when I saw Aida's post WIW 04.25 [neon accents]. #15 was my copy - I tried it three ways - the one on the left is what I actually wore, and the one on the farthest right is what I will wear next. The one in the middle I think the boots need to be lighter.

April was a fabulous, fun filled month. Hopefully it was a good dressing month as well!
