Re the waiting strategy...I have done that. Shopped in November and found sale items even further marked down -- and nabbed the item post sale. In particular, I got this Save the Duck jacket post-sale at better than sale price.

DonnaF - Great strategy, thanks for sharing!

Carol - I've shopped NAS as long as I've been on YLF, like Angie, it's my favorite sale of the year. My biggest wardrobe refresh every year is usually with NAS.

Susie - I've had to keep many lovely cold weather items OFF my shopping list during NAS. The lower price is so tempting for generally higher priced items (especially sweaters and coats) but I just don't get to wear them often enough to own more than a few in my wardrobe. I'm always delighted when I see some warmer weather items in NAS because that better fits my current climate.

I have the same dilemma- I love winter clothing but our winters are fairly short.
I have to be careful not to add too many heavier items. I stayed away from coats too this year.

I think it’s good advice to try them. They might be special enough to splurge. Or not and you can move on!

I've not bought ANYTHING, as I have never participated in this sale. It is getting more and more tempting. I did just post about an item I want, also pants--a very olive, barrel jeans number.

I love these--you seem forward-thinking. I love corduroy, and I would pair them with everything--I would totally make them a staple. Turtlenecks, chambray tops, floral tops, even a hoodie!

You can put it in your Wish List and order it on the last day of NAS. If it is marked down within two weeks you can get an adjustment online. Or if it gets marked down after that and you still haven't worn them, you can re-order them and return the first pair; just be sure you give them the order number so you aren't credited with the wrong return.

Lise - You make a great point about corduroy's and the length. When I lived in a colder climate I'd never have considered something cropped for winter. But I have much milder winters now. Although, cropped lengths (like the blackberry cords in the replies in this thread and the Veronica Beard cords in the finds at the top of this post) are often full length on me anyway, because I'm short. :)

Bijou - I adore cold weather clothes and it's been one of the biggest adjustments for me after I moved to a warmer climate. I simply don't get enough time to wear winter clothes. This NAS I stayed away from jackets, coats, and sweaters, because they just won't get enough use. These corduroy's are really appealing because they are not heavy or thick, they seem ideal for milder winters. Thanks for your advice, I'll have to do some careful thinking to see if they really belong in my wardrobe.

kkards - A great idea to stalk and see if I can get them at a lower price than during NAS. It also gives me more time to consider if they would really work for my wardrobe. Thanks for your advice!

Firecracker (Sharan) - Thanks for sharing your experience with NAS items, post NAS. These corduroy's are a fun item, not a wardrobe hole, so I do not have any pressure to get them. Your having a stellar NAS and your new items are all going to be wonderful additions to your wardrobe!

gryffin - Thanks for sharing your VB experience. This is a new brand for me and indeed the quality of the cords is nice. They are lighter weight and have a thin corduroy texture, making them quite attractive for my milder winters and casual lifestyle.

Lisa - Love those cords. Can't you just style them like the most elegant jeans? VB has great sales too. I have a lot (yes a lot of VB blazers and I've only bought one at full price - some final sale for25% retail.) So you should always keep an eye out because a lot of times you can get amazing buys. GL but love them!! Awesome color and style.

They do look gorgeous. What a great color for you, and I bet the quality is really nice.

My thinking is the same as kkards'. Too many times, I have bought things at NAS, only to have them marked down further long before I have a chance to wear them. Sometimes, it seemed just weeks after NAS ended.

But this approach (waiting, and gambling) requires that you make peace with the possibility that they may not still be here after the sale.

Yesterday was my day to go back for things I was still thinking about: One was the pair of jeans that wasn't on sale. A second was the Paul Green boots that Gryffin posted about. And the third was another bra; since this year I took a whole new size, I wanted to have the right number on hand to wash less often.

Lisa —since all sizes are still in stock, I’m gambling that these will not be a sell out. I’d hold them in your Nordies wish list and check back in mid September, they are likely to be marked down in September or October, which is closer to when you would actually wear them

I too have short mild winters and have had the very real realisation that whilst I may adore cold weather clothing, my needs for winter clothing are limited. That said, I believe we all need to have some things in our wardrobe that make us happy and feel special when wearing. A corduroy pant seems like a good substitute for winter jeans so I can see the appeal of these beauties.
Would you wear them even for just a day at home? Wearing beautiful clothes just because you like them is a treat and so much better than having something beautiful languishing in your closet unworn.

Taking your time to really think it through is wise. Don't be talked into buying these unless you will get the wear (or joy) from them.

Angie - It may be worth a try to see if they can fit into my wardrobe and how much use they would get with our warmer winters. They weren't a heavy weight corduroy like my blackberry Billabong's (in the finds) which I adore but don't get to wear often.

Suz - At this price point, that's why I paused with them. My budget would be better spent on some Zella (if I can snatch up some pieces in my size) versus corduroy's which are a cold weather item and we have mild, short winters. But they are such a pretty color. Seeking a knock off version is a great idea!

They are lovely looking pants. I think -- considering your climate is warmer -- they might not get a ton of wear -- so maybe keep an eye out for knock off versions? On the other hand, they are a beautiful colour and very "you" so I can see why you are tempted.

I guess if you ordered them you could try styling them with fall/winter outfits...and see if you think they'd earn their keep?

Hello.

I have a very successful in store shopping today for NAS and got many lovely new things.

You can read about the casual items here and the workwear here.

One item I tried on in store but didn't purchase was these Blue Stone Corduroy Flare Leg Ankle Pants by Veronica Beard.

I don't need blue corduroy pants and I struggled to think of how I'd style them or how often I would wear them, which is why I left them in store.

But gosh they sure were lovely. They are a much softer blue in person than online. They fit me full length (crops are usually full length on 5'3" me). They would be a big splurge, especially for someone who is mostly WFH and lives in Zella more days than not.

Do you have anything you've left in store, but are still thinking about?

Thanks for reading!
