My .02 - I’d leave the white leather Nikes behind. Leaving for Greece, I wore my white Adidas Superstars on the plane because I thought I might want to do a dress and sneakers combo at some point during the trip, but it was just too hot to even think about wearing anything other than sandals. The one exception was that I also brought a pair of VERY lightweight Cole Haan sneakers that I wore for the trek up to and around the Acropolis. (See? Total over packer! Two pairs of sneakers PLUS running shoes?! What was I thinking?! *insert eye roll emoji here*) The Cons look like they fit in with your color palette, and since they’re rather flat, maybe not a bad idea to throw them in if you have room? As a “just in case” pair of comfy shoes? So glad! I am nervous about this trip (leaving my kiddos, schmoozing with strangers, etc) but finally starting the feel excited and grateful for the opportunity! My plan for my feet is - wear the Birkies. I'm bringing them for touring and trekking, but if my feet are dying I'll wear them to all but the final dinner. As to the carry on, our philosophy is always, if we need to buy a bag, we will! We haven't needed to yet, but never say never! You could wear it also at the final dinner. For Heaven's sake, take the sandals! We are under a heatwave in Italy and they say it will last long. Think what heat + walking can do to your feet. Florence - and Tuscany - are generally hot. I also suggest taking another pair of shoes. Florence is very walkable so the sandals should be great. Allow plenty of time at the Uffizi and the David museum both are special for different reasons.
