I think it is a good starting point, though many stores don't even stick to their own sizing charts or maintain consistency across different styles, so it is still a good idea to try on.

My mom also tried this at the mall, and I think she said the printout didn't give her the sizes in all the stores she was interested in.

A good idea in theory and make work if you are ordering for someone who is unable to try on too much clothing in person due to disabilities, age etc but it is not a true substitute for trying on actual garments. It removes the sensory pleasure of clothes shopping for sure.

I agree with celia - nothing like putting clothing on your body. It would be useful for online shopping as long as you could still return

It wouldn't work for me.As much as I sometimes don't feel like trying things on, the way they feel and drape on me is what most of the time makes me buy an item or not.

What I found interesting is that B&M stores will be using this in store so customers do not have to physically try on until a decision is made.

I've used the Virtual Model and used to get size recommendations from myfit (I think that was it - gone now) which was helpful. I like that it could streamline ordering but would wonder if it would keep me from ordering something that I might like IRL but not on the screen. Boden recommends sizes if you tell them what fits you in other brands (like J Crew, Ann Taylor etc...) It takes a bit of the guess out of it, but it's always going to come down to touch and real wear in the end.

I played with My Virtual Model when it came out what almost 10 years ago. I still think nothing will take the place of putting the actual clothes on your body, but it's a start.

I just read (and watched) this interesting article about software that allows you to try on clothes virtually instead of actually. I hate trying on clothes in a store so this is something I would use. What are your thoughts?
