Part of the problem with having space is that you don't have to get rid of stuff, but I had a closet that I just kept putting stuff in, that I was going to go thru "someday"', well that day was today. I must say, it felt really good to drop those bags at goodwill. </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/the-great-purge-the-shoe-edition#post-1080184 Sat, 09 Nov 2013 21:50:52 +0000 Beth Ann 1080184@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>Good choices!&nbsp; It make sense to start with things that are worn out, uncomfortably, or no longer pleasing to you, is a great place to start.&nbsp; With every choice you move forward into your new life.&nbsp; </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/the-great-purge-the-shoe-edition#post-1080162 Sat, 09 Nov 2013 21:06:58 +0000 MuseumGal 1080162@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>The Great (involuntary, but necessary) Purge continues.&nbsp; Today I am focusing on shoes.</p> <p>Exhibit A:&nbsp; I have a very stylish friend who swans about in enormous platform sandals during the summer.&nbsp; I bought these pink sandals because I knew she would like them.&nbsp; Never mind there was no way I'd be able to comfortably walk in them.&nbsp; In my defense, I was looking for a pair of pink or red sandals, and I do wear wedges and I love Tstraps, and I like this brand, and these were way on sale for like $14 - but still - I should never have bought these.&nbsp; I wore them exactly once - to have dinner with said friend.&nbsp; Off to Goodwill.</p> <p>Exhibit B:&nbsp; These red slingbacks were $4.99 at a thrift store.&nbsp; They are the brand Softt and had clearly never been worn.&nbsp; I couldn't resist.&nbsp; I should have resisted.&nbsp; Why?&nbsp; Because I can't wear slingbacks (something about the way my foot/ankle curves or does not curve means they don't stay on), because these are a bit too mumsy for my taste, and because they were half a size too big.&nbsp; I figured I could make them work.&nbsp; They've never been worn.&nbsp; Off to Goodwill.</p> <p>Exhibit C:&nbsp; I've had both pair of these black sandals for probably 10 or 15 years and wore them back in the day when 1) I could walk in heels that high without killing myself and 2) I had a lifestyle where I wore sky high black sandals.&nbsp; I've been hanging on to them "just in case."&nbsp; Just in case what?&nbsp; Just in case I decide to dump my dissertation and be a stripper?&nbsp; Off to goodwill.</p> <p>Oy vey.&nbsp; This purge may be involuntary, but I am quickly learning that it is quite necessary.&nbsp; There is much more, but I will spare you the boredom (and myself the humiliation). </p>
