<p>Hi Suz, late to the party here but just wanted say how ultra fab the DVF sweater is! &nbsp;It is a perfect trend item for fall, and one is on my wish list.</p>
<p>As for the skirts, I love the black skirt as is, shorter. &nbsp;I think that is the better length when worn with booties. &nbsp;As for the cobalt and merlot skirts, I think that is the right length for lower vamped footwear. &nbsp;Just my opinion.

I would keep then!<br />Absolutely love the sweater on you too.<br />These posts have been such fun to read.<br />I would show off your knees while they look so nice- there comes a day.....

<p>Listen to Sveta! Angie and she are exactly right about the bronze color looking dark without looking heavy--think of the Pliners as a subtle, more interesting variation of black. My bronze booties don't really "match" anything, but go with everything, if that makes any sense. </p>
<p>Unless you feel uncomfortable in the black skirt, I'd leave it the current length, especially since your purplish skirt is a bit longer. If you don't wear skirts very often in the winter, having the two different lengths could give you a bit of variety when creating outfits. </p>
<p>Much as I adore the cobalt skirt, I do understand your hesitation. I had a cobalt skirt a few seasons ago that I also bought to inject some color in my winter wardrobe. I loved the skirt, but I did have difficulty mixing it with other items in my closet because it seemed to work best with black. If I tried mixing it with other colours, it just looked too--bright?--for winter. But that is probably just a personal reaction because, while I like my brights in the spring and summer, I feel more seasonally appropriate in muted or jewel tones in the fall and winter.</p>
<p>Needless to say, that DVF top is fabulous!

<p>The DVF is gorgeous on you!&nbsp; In fact, I wish that it wasn't sold out in the S - because I'd give it another try!&nbsp; <br />Love the Pliner booties - I saw them in the store and thought of them as a neutral - I'd wear with everything.&nbsp; Also, I expected them to be stumpifying on your legs, but when I looked at the pics - they aren't!&nbsp; I think its because of where they hit you on the ankles - it is quite flattering and slenderizing - I'd keep!<br />Love the Munros - perfect for dress up or dress down - and such a beautful color.<br />The cobalt skirt is pretty - I have a low tolerance for skirts like this (totally irrational, I know!) - so I'd keep the plum skirt and send this one back - but, if you were to keep it, I'd pair with the DVF sweater, any white or black solid colored or patterned top, pastel pink - or blush, navy blue, turquoise/aqua, bluish greens, etc. etc. - it could really work with a lot of things Suz!<br />Good haul - and I've loved reading about your NAS adventures/purchases!&nbsp; Thanks for sharing!

<p>Shevia, I hope you recover soon. Were your ears burning today? We were trip planning...it won't be for a while, but we are trying to get the dates set...</p>
<p>Jeanne, hoof-like! I think that's what Rachy meant by "Barbie" feet. It must be the pointy toe and horizontal line. They <b>are </b>a bit like that!&nbsp;</p>
<p>If I were confident that I could find tall boots that fit me, I wouldn't hesitate about the cobalt skirt. Lyn is right - it is not a "need." Strictly speaking, I probably don't "need" <b>any</b> skirts!! Or at least I could make do without them in winter. But. I mean, really. Is that any way to build a wardrobe? </p>
<p>After all,&nbsp;I <b>like</b> skirts! And I wear them if I have them. True, I don't wear them on my work-at-home days in the winter. But I do wear them if I go out to lunch or dinner with friends here in town. And,&nbsp;I spend at least one week per month (often more) travelling for business and engagements and to see my mother (which involves taking her to lunches and appointments and such.)&nbsp;So I don't think it would be orphaned...apart from the hose issue.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Sveta, I would actually love for you to visit but I hope I don't have to return the booties to make that happen! &nbsp;You had me in stitches! :-)&nbsp;</p>
<p>Mona, if I keep these booties, you and I will have to go on a Kingston date where I can wear them and you can wear your leather jacket!&nbsp;</p>
<p>Thanks for sage counsel, Sona. I am sure the purple skirt will work with a ton of stuff. The cobalt goes with many tops but the hose (in winter) is an issue.&nbsp;</p>

<p>My goodness Suz! Please do not apologize for these posts - I am looking forward to reading all the ones I missed. But I will apologize, I am pretty much delirious with jet lag and cannot really read all the comments without my eyes blurring over. I barely managed to skim your post with my eyes staying in focus. (Luckily I can type with my eyes closed!) Since you already know you will keep the sweater I will just say I LOVE the Pliner booties on you and maybe like them better than the colored ones, which are terrific in themselves. Keep them please!

<p>Sweater is a keeper - no brainer.<br />The booties are interesting. I love the color and prefer them in 3 with lower contrast since head on they cut so straight across. Please don't take this wrong, but in the photo they come of a bit "hooflike".&nbsp;I'm sure it's more a result of a photo than real life 3D motion. One thing&nbsp;I would be concerned with is the wear of a kitten heel on a bootie as opposed to a more substantial heel. <br />Oh and lengthen the black skirt please and yes tall boots with the Halogen skirt will sort that out.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<p>Suz, if you even contemplate to return the Pliner booties I will go right to Kingston to set you straight (some spanking may be involved). My word! This gal must be crazy if she doubts these booties will work with basically everything in her wardrobe! I think they are more versatile than black because they are dark without looking&nbsp; heavy - and work beautifully with taupe as I proved to you in the store. Actually they worked beautifully with EVERYTHING you tried on.&nbsp;<br />So please - PLEASE - spare me the travel, be a good girl and keep those beauties!<br />As for the cobalt skirt - I think it should work in winter. After all I wear my yellow skirt year round - why not cobalt? You will have fun!

<p>I love the DVF sweater ( I bought the same) on you!</p>
<p>All the three other items are nice, fit your style and are stylish in and of themselves. The skirts are also classic in a way. The question with these three items is their role in your closet and mixing with other pieces. Unlike you I have a very varied closet that spans almost every color so to me new items are essentially a no brainer as in I know they will work with several others. Your closet is a lot more curated and I would play around&nbsp; with these items make sure you are getting enough use-ability of them. It sounds like the pliners are a 'love love' but may get limited wear. Could you justify the cost or would it be better spent on another type of shoe that might get more wear?</p>
<p>Just some thoughts.

<p>Seems like the DVF sweater is a winner. Thank you all!&nbsp;</p>
<div><br /></div><div>I like the idea of looking at the Pliners as "textured black." That is sort of what Sveta said, Angie.&nbsp;</p>
<p>ETA: Unfrumped, somehow I missed your comment in my first round - thank you for your thoughts! I agree the Pliners are more refined than the Munros. Interesting that you see them as "flower potty" -- they are snug to the ankle on me, unlike my Report booties, which are loose. But I agree they have looked that way on some others and looked SUPER on Beth Ann!! I am glad for the reminder about grey with cobalt.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Ainsley, thank you for the detailed comments. With the cobalt skirt,&nbsp;I think I want another colour option for winter more than anything. I get tired of black bottoms! (And denim.)</div><div><br /></div><div>Gabrielle, I am listening closely to your advice. I will have to sleep on it a bit more….</div><div><br /></div><div>Interesting, AV, about the skirt lengths. You would like them all shorter! I could go that route as well, though my own eye has pretty much adjusted to midi length.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Good advice, Becky. I will experiment with the blue skirt a bit more.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Good reminder, Lisa, about your cobalt jeans becoming workhorses for you. My cobalt skirt was a workhorse this summer, that's for sure.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Deb, being your twin is enough reason to keep the cobalt skirt in itself!&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Re the booties -- they just wouldn't be comfortable to wear here in Kingston very often. If I had an office job, sure. But my life here is super casual and the streets are rough (even some cobblestones), I walk everywhere...and the booties have sharp kittenish heels. The&nbsp;Munros, with their thicker heel, feel totally wearable for everyday. The Pliners feel too refined for daily casual wear. Yet comfortable for more dressy occasions.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Rae, you are a sweet enabler.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>KKards, that is so interesting about wearing the booties with navy…I think in the back of my mind I was thinking of that…but then I realized I don't have any navy bottoms! LOL.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Eliza, I agree that the sweater is eminently adaptable. And the booties <b>ARE </b>comfortable -- surprisingly so!&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>As I go through these responses I realize that the main issue for the cobalt skirt is <b>HOSE</b> colour. I have tops and toppers. What I don't know how to do is keep my legs warm in style! Now, if I had tall boots this would not even be a problem at all. Hmmmm.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Peri, thank you. Sweater 2 will be up for consideration next!</div><div><br /></div><div>Glory, I have very little footwear for dressy events in winter. I can wear my SW black booties with pants (but they are not dressy enough for skirts, really). My pumps don't stay on my feet in winter with hose. And I have no dressy boots. So that was one reason I bought the Pliners.&nbsp;&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Ingunn, I'd definitely wear the Pliners in Kingston on date nights, or if I had to give a talk (this may not happen at all this winter.) I'd wear them if I were going out to dinner with a friend.&nbsp;&nbsp;But they'd get much more wear in my "city" capsule.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Interesting thought, Rachy, about the skirt. This is what I was wondering -- whether variety might be the best option.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Barbie feet, LOL. The shape <b>IS</b> a bit like that, isn't it?</div><div><br /></div><div>Saramir, thank you so much! &nbsp; Show us your sweater, please!! &nbsp;I hear you on the booties with nude leg. I have this poison eye, too, still, though it has adjusted somewhat.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>DV, I think maybe the VC midis are especially flattering because they curve in and are not quite as stiff as the Halogen skirts. They're tube skirts vs. pencil skirts, if that makes sense, and as &nbsp;someone with rectangle tendencies, I get more shape from the tube. Also, the VC skirts feel stretchy and comfortable and you can probably sense that comfort in the pics.&nbsp;But these Halogen skirts do curve to some degree as well. &nbsp;I am sending that chambray shirt back - -just showing for th esake of the booties.&nbsp;
</p>
<p>Thanks again, all - you are super helpful and I'm getting some good ideas here.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I think I'm going to echo Rachy's comment about knees. I don't know why I'd prefer your skirts a little longer. I am going to have to think about that so I can provide good feedback (my mind keeps flipping back to the striped skirt from this weekend I thought it was endlessly flattering on you) I love the red booties and think they work well because of the v in the front with skirts. (generally I am not a fan of skirts and booties it looks choppy to my eye the v helps lengthen the leg line).&nbsp;</p>
<p>I love the chambray and mauve skirt combination but I think it's too low contrast for your coloring. Maybe a high contrast scarf or jacket will help? </p>
<p>Suz you know how to rock a pair of slouchy trousers -- #1 is SO good!&nbsp;

<p>Suz, I LOVE your posts. Partly because your style is similar to what I aspire to. I got the Tinkit sweater too and have been debating keeping it because while I absolutely adore it, it is definitely a luxury item for me. So, I love seeing it on you (because it looks just gorgeous) and hearing how much you love it.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Anyway, to be helpful here. I like the Pliner booties on you with hose, not so much on a nude leg, but I have a sort of poison eye for booties with skirts. It's not so much leg-shortening on you as just abrupt-seeming (does that even make sense?).&nbsp;</p>
<p>The cobalt skirt is lovely on you&nbsp;and would be good to inject color into your winter wardrobe if you can wear skirts in the winter. Although...maybe a half-inch shorter would be better?&nbsp;</p>
<p>Good haul and thanks for letting us shop the NAS virtually through you!&nbsp;

<p>I am feeling the covered knees right now, but I'm tempted to say keep the black skirt hem the same. For the sake of variety.</p>
<p>I think I'd pass on the black booties. They rather are giving you odd Barbie feet.

<p>Suz, I think all your choices are beautiful. To me, your black skirt seem fine as it is, but if you feel like letting it down, it would be fine, too. The DVF sweater is <i>gorgeous</i>. Oh, how I would love to have one myself! I think your cobalt skirt has potential to become an unexpected workhorse. It works with so many colors and styles, and I'm sure you will be wearing it over and over again. The booties are also very chic. I don't see leg shortening, and the color is really versatile. Are you sure you won't be wearing them in Kingston, too? Not even a few times? If you think they are special enough for you to keep only for a few occasions, then keep. If not, I think you should reconsider. But don't return them for the wrong reasons You have great legs in all these pics!

<p>Everything looks great here Suz. I agree with lengthening the black skirt. What I am not sure about is the boots - not because they are not lovely. When you mentioned they cannot be used for everyday life - that causes me pause. Do you have other footwear that can be used in the travel/ going out capsule?&nbsp;

<p>Love the sweater. Such a refined look, yet very adaptable to your casual days. </p>
<p>The booties are beautiful. They don't read brown bronze on my screen and that hint of metallic often makes shoes more versatile and a bit of fun for dreary winters. I get very comfortable integrating new shoe colors and styles into my wardrobe IF they are comfortable. Ironically, my fussy feet have helped with fashion, as much as the search would have me label them a hindrance.</p>
<p>The black skirt lengthening by the extra inch would be beautiful and perhaps add to your comfort wearing it. </p>
<p>Cobalt in the winter? Absolutely. As others have said, cream, charcoal, light gray and perhaps even raspberry sweaters or blouses could work for you. You may also find a patterned sweater or jacket that would work. </p>
<p>Love seeing your choices.  Enjoy.

<p>i also got the pliners. and i love that they are not black, and yet they are a color that will still work with black. i plan to wear them with navy, olive green, navy and black. (i alway struggle with boots/booties to wear with navy, as i am one of thoese people who doesn't like navy and black together)<br />
love the dvf sweater! i like the cobalt skirt, it will certainly brighten up a cold winter day!

<p>Keep those Pliners! They are NOT stumpifying on you in any incarnation. Wear with anything and everything, just like deb said. Don't think twice about the leg line; you have a nice, long leg line with this length of top. I think as long as your waist is not obscured, you are good to go.</p>
<p>And the sweater is out of this world on you!!

<p>Oh my, what good finds! Love the sweater on you. Pair the sweater&nbsp;with the cobalt skirt, black tights and black booties and add the navy topper and you are good to go.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /> We are cobalt skirt twins!<br />I like the length of the black skirt, but I have a sugar eye for that length. <br />Keep the bronze booties and wear them daily. I think that color will go with just about everything. Why save them for the city? I do not find them too dressy at all.

<p>DVF sweater, gorgeous piece.&nbsp; So glad you got this.</p>
<p>Booties, I like them even with the "stumpy" vibe they have.&nbsp; They have a very trendy vibe to me.&nbsp; The color looks like a metallic neutral to my eye, so I think they will mix well with&nbsp;any sheer hose.&nbsp; </p>
<p>Skirt-I'd like the length a tad longer so I vote let the hem out.</p>
<p>Blue skirt-gorgeous piece!&nbsp; I have a cobalt pair of jeans and plan to wear them with black, grey and white in the winter months.&nbsp; I think these bold color pieces are seasonless.</p>

<p>What a great sweater! I see no bootie stumpifying at all and love the color. Angie is right that though they're bronze they work as black, not brown. I vote to let out that inch on the black skirt.</p>
<p>The cobalt skirt is beautiful on you, but do remember that skirts are so easy to orphan. Find several combinations you love before you decide to keep.

<p>My opinion before reading everyone else's: &nbsp;<br />1) I love the sweater on you!<br />2) It's hard for me to see the color of the booties in the pictures but I would think you could treat the color as an unexpected neutral. &nbsp;Plus they're comfortable! &nbsp;And those of us who have trouble with tall boots can't have too many booties can we?<br />3) I like the shorter length and don't think you should let the hem down.<br />4) I almost think you should shorten this skirt to the same length as 3. &nbsp;I can't imagine you're not going to figure out a lot of ways to wear this since you did so well with the VC skirt.</p>
<p>How's that for enabling?</p>

<p>Suz -- I learned a long time ago that if I have<i> any doubt whatsoever,&nbsp;</i>return it. I think that tiny feeling of doubt is my subconscious telling me that the item is just not right. &nbsp;I made mistakes in the past&nbsp;when I failed to pay attention to that feeling. &nbsp;For whatever reason, those items became what I termed "fails." &nbsp;And it could have been for any number of reasons: &nbsp; color, fit, style. &nbsp;</p>
<p>So, what I am trying to say is that&nbsp;your subconscious may be trying to tell you that something is just not quite right. &nbsp;Return it. &nbsp;I hope this helps. &nbsp;

<p>1. &nbsp;The DVF sweater is fantastic! &nbsp;I know people have been saying that it is blush IRL, but I swear it reads creme/beige on my computer. &nbsp;In any case, it looks lovely on you. &nbsp;I&nbsp;like it with the skirt, it's a classic silhouette. &nbsp;But&nbsp;I like it even more with the slouchy trousers - it looks very modern.</p>
<p>2. &nbsp;Please keep the Pliners! &nbsp;That color is ahhmmazzzing! &nbsp;You can wear them with trousers (as you have shown, they look great), AND with skirts! &nbsp;I admit I don't have a big sugar-eye for booties and midis, although I am adjusting to the look. &nbsp;I think they look great with the shorter length of the black skirt though, and definitely with the darker hose (I see no stumpfy-ing at all there). &nbsp;I would wear them with black, grey, and nude hose.</p>
<p>3. &nbsp;I don't think you need to let down the hem at all. &nbsp;But this is really dependent on your comfort level. &nbsp;Have you tried pulling the skirt down a bit to see if the inch length looks better?</p>
<p>4. &nbsp;I think the cobalt skirt would look great with black, grey, camel, white, as well as both patterned sweaters shown, polka dots, etc... But so would the plum skirt. &nbsp;And the plum skirt would also look great with the Munroe AND Pliner booties as well as navy. &nbsp;So I guess it depends on whether it has a place in your fall/winter color story? &nbsp;Are there toppers that wouldn't work with either the black or plum skirts that would with the cobalt? &nbsp;Or are you just wanting another color option? &nbsp;Because if it is the latter, then I think you have a winner here, the color is great.</p>
<p>Finally, just a suggestion (and I may be way off base!)&nbsp;- have you tried the longer skirts with an untucked topper (like a sweater in 1 or 2) and the Pliners? &nbsp;I ask because I think some of the stumpfying is mitigated in 2 because the proportions are different (ei, there's more balance between what appears to be the length of your torso and the length of your upper legs). &nbsp;</p>
<p>Thank you so much for sharing, I love these NAS recaps!

<p>I think the booties would be a go-with-everything neutral. I see no stumpifying either. The difference from the other booties is just that they have the notch in front that of course lengthens a smidgen more... but only in side by side comparison.

<p>(<b>I can't wait to wear my DVF jumper</b>. <b></b>My favourite piece that I bought at the sale). </p>
<p>I don't see the Pliner booties as leg shortneing. So on trend, elegant and chic. In fact, I prefer them to the Munros - which are also stunning. I love the sheer hose with the Pliners - and the trouser rendition. Think of the colour as "textured black" as opposed to bronzed brown. And you know how to wear black footwear, Suz. </p>
