Things I love:
1. The comfortable shoe thing. I admit I have to point out to my non-YLF friends that the sneakers with skirts is "intentional."
2. The fact that fashion seems to be catering to everyone's taste. It seems that colors and styles abound and everyone can find something they love.
3. White jeans. Who knew I would wear them so often. I love that I am the only one at work wearing white jeans.
4. Pencil skirts.
5. The half tuck. I am not very good at it, but when I see it done right in WIWs, my soul sings.
6. Ms. Mary's adaptations from pinterest. They make me smile every time.

I hate:
1. The fact that I can't find pants/slacks/jeans in full length. I have given up buying them this year all together. This may be the first year ever that I have failed to replenish these items.
2. Sheer tops. Got rid of all of them except one. They actually bore me now.
3. White jeans. I hate that everyone points out to me that I am wearing white jeans and how they must get so dirty and/or stained…..
4. I have not fallen in love with boyfriend jeans. My eye has adjusted (finally), but the falling off the hip is not my primary style and I can't seem to adapt.
5. Those uneven length sweaters. I have not adjusted my eye to them yet.

6. Fast fashion. Poor quality items.

I love the variety of styles available in today's fashion. If one style of footwear, pant, etc. is not for you it's not the ONLY thing out there and you can usually find the one that suits you. Love how most of the "rules" of the past have gone out the window and being fashionable today means finding your own style.

I am also fully embracing the "roll everything" trend and more fluid fits, ankle strap shoes, back zip shoes, and sneakers.

A few very minor quibbles (very minor because I still find a ton of great things to buy): High fashion (and much of non-high fashion) does not make petite or plus sized clothing. Being short but average sized, I can sometimes find things that work for me, but a lot of ladies would like to buy these clothes and can't.
Some of my go-to stores (AT, J Crew, BR) are using less silk, wool and cotton and more poly, quality gets spotty at times.
Fashion at all levels is "fast". What I mean by that is if something is offered at the beginning of a season and you want to wait to buy it for budget or whatever reason, it can very easily sell out in a very short time and never be restocked. Often when you find a great fitting pant or jean, you feel that you have to buy several pair in case they discontinue the style (at least I do). Levi's has discontinued the Bold Curve Classic rise jean that fits me perfectly (aaargh!).

And white pants and jeans that are see through - c'mon, who wants those?

I think the ankle straps have to hit at a comfortable spot, not right on the ankle bone. I like the vast selections available. Cons might be not seeing much in the way of 2 piece sleeved dresses, but I really can't think of much. There are more low heels and long skirts available than in the recent past. I kind of like the sheer tops, probably for the textures they create. Maybe more beautiful, unique and interesting prints.

I'm with you on the too-sheer tops issue. There are white blouses everywhere, but all of them are sooooo see through. I'd like to find an opaque, fluid white blouse - it just doesn't see to be available.

I agree with you about the socks. Socks are due for a trend comeback! We've embraced comfort on a lot of levels - lower heels, comfier shoes, less shape wear on a daily basis - but still socks are verboten. It's weird.

Thin fabrics and the dearth of 100% cotton I suspect are due to cost cutting measures on the part of manufacturers.

Ankle straps seem to be such a personal thing. They neither attract nor annoy me, but I know there are others here on YLF who find that they are great at keeping shoes on their feet that they otherwise couldn't wear. It must be an anatomical difference.

What a great post!

I was thinking how difficult it was to find summer tops. I have not embraced fluid fits for my upper body. I love volume on the bottom and wear lots of wide legged pants but volume on top does not work for me.

Trying to find clothes in colours I like. After todays post by Angie I may have more luck in the fall. I love brown.

I am happy with the variety of shoes and sandals. I love Birks and wedges.

The things I love about todays fashion:

1. being able to roll up almost everything from jeans, pants, capris, shorts, etc. I am rolling up or down almost all mine, except a couple of pairs of skinnies that are too narrow on the bottom. Roll down in cooler evenings, roll up when warmer, change look with different footwear-this is easy and fun...

2. fluid tops, all kinds

3. lots of great types of sandals and booties. lots of heel heights, shapes from thin to chunky.

4. shoes with back zippers as they fit and stay on my feet. Have heel flop problem so many shoes.

5. Sneaker trend!

Not so good:

1. tops that are too see thru, especially in white or lite colors.

2. Way to few 100% cotton in jeans, pants, actually almost everything-

3. the #^&# 2% spandex in everything.

4. The whole no socks, hose, etc. thing....Almost all footwear, except sandals, is made to be lots more comfy with socks, ph or some foot covering. So why is it a no no to have some sort of footie sock showing on top,,like those little footie socks with the colors on top that you can match to your sneaker color, or solids like tan, black, white, etc. ?

5. ankle straps-although I have a few pairs and wear them a lot, they are sometimes a bit annoying.

OK, now add yours-I am sure there are others for me, but this post is long enough!
