It's a perfect casual FL hot weather dress. I vote return too, Malina.

Mo, just reading your post...you did the right thing. Very nice-looking dress, but ill-fitting and VERY bad pattern match makes it a big loser in my book. Wait for a dress that makes your heart happy when you wear it.

Denise, I did write a review much like yours! I said it would be a great dress, minus the flaw in construction of the bust. We'll see if it ever gets posted. Freckles, I decided to just return for now and if it goes on 25% or more discount, I will reattempt it at that time. It has been going down in price about 50 cents a week or so lol.

Such a shame after a well anticipated dress arrives with a flaw. Hope you can get another at no extra cost to you that will be perfect. Will it be too late by then to get your money's worth?

Too bad it isn't sewn right. Sometimes I think they get the pieces mixed up, like a size 8 piece of material got used instead of a size 4. I once purchased a sweater from Macy's INC brand and one sleeve was 4" longer than the other. It was a beautiful sweater but I had to return it. I wrote a review for it that said, what a beautiful sweater and I'm sure this doesn't happen very often, etc. I was nice about it but I did include the sleeve length mishap. Of course they never posted the review.

You've probably already headed out to the PO, but you should call and talk to them before you send it to let them know it's coming and that you expect a replacement at no extra shipping expense to you.
BTW.. other than the boob problem, it looks great on you!

Mo, be sure to have them waive your shipping charges! Their site says they do this for defective items, and extra boob fabric sure sounds like a defect to me.

Heading to the post office now. I lined up the side seams and the right bust had almost an inch more of fabric along the underarm. Not good!

(Dresslover it has gone done in price another fifty cents LOL!)

ETA: the brand is actually Pura Vida. I don't know why it's listed under Journee. A quick ebay search shows that this brand is sold at Anthropology. I'm wondering if in fact I did just get a random irregular. I can't imagine people pay Anthro prices for such shoddy craftsmanship . . .

Rae has a very good point. Most people don't care or notice pattern distribution, but I'm fairly obsessive about it. If pattern distribution is a concern of yours, then I'd return it as trying to find a good pattern without seeing the garments in person is very difficult.

for now, I think I will just return. If and when it goes on REAL sale in the near future, I'll try again and hope it won't be a similar problem with the bust. Denise, if you ordered one, I'd be interested to hear how the bust fits on yours. I'll be thrilled if it's just a random irregular I received.

I vote return. Besides the sewing problem, the pattern varies from one cup to the other, making the girls look a wee bit lopsided (don't hit me). If it wasn't online, I'd say to just look for one with more evenly matched patterning, but it seems like it'd be a hassle.

I don't think it is the design because in your first picture you are standing with both arms the same and the left cup clearly lays more flush against you than the right cup. (Or it could just be the pattern, so correct me if my assumption is wrong.)

If both cups look fairly different from both the inside and outside of the dress, I'd try exchanging it. If they look the same, then it's the design and I'd just return it.

It's from Overstock, I'm sure they have an exchange program. If it is just this one that is in fact irregular I'd be interested in trying. If it's how they are all designed, I think it's made for someone built further apart and pointier than I lol!

What a bummer. I know you were eagerly anticipating this dress. It does look like the right cup is sewn improperly. And since you know it is there, it will probably drive you nuts when you wear it. Is an exchange possible?

So the long awaited summer dress came today. The good - the material is very breezey, light cotton weave and the colors are great. The bad - the bust fits oddly. From the front things look alright. From the side it's like I got a mastectomy! The right cup seems to have extra darts/material near the armpit which both flattens the middle and makes the outsides pucker. I don't know if letting it hang from being folded will help or a wash might do the trick. I don't think I could/should size down - the band on the 4 seems to fit well around my waist/back, with about an inch to spare before washing.

yay - keep
nay - return
