My company is applying for some grants for payroll- it's a healthcare nonprofit, and our programs are all needed now, so hopefully we get some extra help. DH isn't working, but I've mostly been the sole breadwinner with him in school so it's ok.<br /> Can't believe they'd furlough doctors and nurses at this point. I worry especially about the loss of doctors, nurses, and emergency personnel to Covid. My cousin is a hospice nurse, and my mom just said she's in hospital. But she had posted it on FB so she must be pretty stabile. I think we have a long way to go, and it’s anybody’s guess what will be left of the life we knew by the time it’s over. It’s scary for sure. My husband’s business (IT consulting and project management) has one main client, and they’re a huge hospitality company. They are furloughing workers and laying off their employees; projects are being postponed or shut off. He has to work out how to get paid the outstanding invoices from the client and pay his consultants. And then there is another business he invested in and serves as an adviser — an oil field service business in Texas. Also gearing down, and with equipment still being paid for. Maybe the cattle ranch is our best bet right now — people still need to eat! </p> <p>My oldest stepson filed for unemployment. He is a freelance sound and stage tech, and he was busy as could be until a few weeks ago. Now...nothing. </p> <p>As for my rather small income — I don’t count on anything from that for the foreseeable future.
