Always at your service Rosebud;-) And I hadn't seen that that pasta as risotto recipe yet. Should be good!
And it is amazing, isn't it Christie, to see how much Clotilde has already achieved. Respect!

Well Angie, if you insist (as if I need any prodding when sweets are involved;-) Your papa sounds truly lovely and he must be so proud of you!

I love cream cheese icing. I'm not such a fan of the traditional buttercream or whatever else icing is made of. I figure, if I'm going to eat icing, I might as well go all the way!

Inge, I am a regular reader of chocolate and zucchini. Her cooking and eating philosophy is right on track with my own. She likes to alter recipes to make them a bit fun and unique. I love it (Plus, she and I are separated in age by a month, so I think it's fun to see how successful she has become at my age!).

I forget now who wrote about the CSA. My husband and I used to have a CSA when we lived in New England. Now, that we have moved, we have chosen not to join a local one. But we still get 90% of our food from the farmer's market or other local vendors (like the local bread shop, local winery, and local chocolate shop). We have two farmer's markets per week for most of the year, and one all year round. Every Saturday morning, my husband and I wake up early (which is difficult after the late-night Shabbat meal we have on Fridays), and march to the market. We spend about an hour or hour and a half chatting with the farmers we now know well and buying whatever is fresh or in season (including cheeses and meats).

Then we come home and for the next week, we look in our fridge every evening (or our garden in the summer) and decide what delicious combination we will put together. I have a handful of cookbooks, but I like to experiment more. I use things like the Joy of Cooking, Julia Child, and Asparagus to Zucchini (http://www.localharvest.org/store/item.jsp?id=270) for inspiration. Mostly, I cook with an Italian/Mediterranean flair--copious amounts of olive oil, fresh herbs, fresh veggies, and pasta/rice/couscous (with some meat thrown in).

Wow, I'm getting excited for dinner already, and it's barely 8 am!

Send over ANY sweet Dutch thing Inge and I’m all OVER it. (My Papa keeps us well stocked. He visits three times a year). And you’ve GOT to try cream cheese icing. It’s my favourite.

Sometimes I need Dutch translators for documents at work. Now I know where to go! ;)

Inge, I LOVE Chocolate and Zucchini! I personally am a risotto maker and Clotilde has a recipe for making pasta like risotto and it comes out so interesting! Her blog just makes me happy! For those of you going to Paris anytime soon, she just came out with a book filled with places to go there.

I watch quite a bit of Food Network, and one of my recent favorites is Dave Lieberman. His recipes are often simple, inexpensive and really tasty. Usually fairly healthy. I find that his desserts often focus on fruits, which I love. The recipes are often so uncomplicated that you don't need to write things down; but, if you do, then just check them out on the Food Network website.

It seems like there are a lot of vegetarians on here. I highly encourage you to check out any of Mollie Katzen's books - anything from the Moosewood series. Also, her book with Walter Willett (amazing Harvard health expert) called Eat, Drink and Weigh Less actually has fantastic recipes in it, done by her. Not all vegetarian, but those that are taste truly spectacular.
Here are a bunch to try:
http://www.molliekatzen.com/archives.php

The Eggplant Parmesan and the Stuffed Peppers on the link below are truly delicious and very healthy. Some of my favorite meals ever.

That taart sounds so delicious Angie, would you believe that I've never had cake with cream cheese icing in my life (note to self: must remedy that soon!).

Stroopwafeltjes, grin, that's a typical Dutch thing for me, not so fond of them myself. But planning on getting me a new waffle-iron this weekend and you're welcome to a batch of 'ambachtelijke suikerwafeltjes' anytime!

I discovered Heidi's blog a few months ago and I like it a lot. She makes me want to try out ingredients and combinations that I sometimes wouldn't have thought of myself.

Another blog tip: Chocolate & Zucchini:
http://chocolateandzucchini.com/
The focus is not always on healthy cooking, and not all recipes are vegetarian but I know many of you are delighted by the French (Parisian) way of life, and Clotilde is a 'parisienne' who has lived in the USA, has two cookbooks out now, and always manages to add a little couleur locale to her blog posts. And for that alone I would keep going back;-)

Here's a link I just discovered surfing late last night that I wanted to share with you all:

http://www.101cookbooks.com/index.html

Her name is Heidi Swanson...and the recipes are mostly vegetarian...she also has a book that's supposed to be very good for anyone trying to go more natural called Super Natural Cooking that looks like a beautiful and comprehensive guide to buying and cooking better that intrigues me. Like a good closet, a good cupboard of food starts with getting rid of the stuff you don't want to eat and making wise choices at the store, I find!

I love, love our panini press (but I reckon the Foreman grill does the exact same job) and I have a long list of things that I like to make in it. Other meal options:

Lunch: PB&J- in a panini press, PB&J becomes magic. I like using natural peanut butter and homemade strawberry jam.
Dinner: tortilla wrap with provolone and grilled peppers, mushrooms, and onion
Dessert (yep!): your choice of bread (I've used chocolate cherry loaf from the market, but you could probably do anything from French loaf to sliced pound cake) with a chocolate spread (we have a dark chocolate spread that I love, but in a pinch Nutella would do). Layer of jam or compote optional.

I once ate nothing but panini for about 3 days straight. My mother thought I was touched in the head.

The BEST hot chocolate fudge sauce:

100g of your favourite chocolate ( I use Lindt)
100g of peanut butter
175ml of heavy cream
3 tablespoons of syrup

Mix it up in a pot over medium heat and pour it over ice cream of your choice while it’s piping hot. Mine in triple chocolate by Hagen Das. Not so healthy but very quick and extremely fabulous. You’ll have died and gone to heaven. Ever in a dessert pinch and pressed for time, this is it.

Tonight I tossed together this little side "salad", which I ate as my meal--my husband smothered garlicy chicken with it.

2 ripe avacados--diced
1 can black beans -- drained and rinsed
Lime Juice (I squeezed a plastic lime for about 15 seconds)
garlic Powder
Salt and pepper

Just toss it all together and let it sit about 15 minutes to meld the flavors. I've also made this as a dip for parties. SO YUMMY!

Thanks for posting the vegetarian recipe, Becky!

This one is great, and you can sub sharp cheddar for smoked Gouda (which can be expensive):

I love reading cooking blogs to get recipe ideas. This one is one of my favourites:
http://definitelynotmartha.blogspot.com/ She makes some great things and it's very entertaining to read too. :)

Some of the recipes I got from there I use regularly, such as:
- pizza-crust quiche: http://definitelynotmartha.blo.....verse.html
- thai style mango-shrimp curry: http://definitelynotmartha.blo.....-free.html

I have a couple more favourites at home that I'll post later.

I try to buy organic produce as much as possible (there was a list on the web of the 8 top things to buy organic - I don't remember all of them but do remember broccoli). We have also tried to eliminate high fructose corn syrup from our house - it's in a ton of stuff and really really not good for you. Thanks for the recipe Nicole!
