I find it fascinating how being picky about purchases really helps hone your style goals. And it makes me laugh that saying "no, it's lovely, it fits, and it looks good on me, but it's not for me" makes me feel SO empowered when I hand it back!

too funny, my agonizing is the other direction...I don't buy at first impulse but try to wait and see if the item haunts me...if it does then the agonizing comes in trying to find a time to get back to the store before it is gone!

You are a great decision-maker! When it feels that good, you know you did the right thing. I'm so glad the Cons made the cut and I love your green ones. I have two pairs and love them for the same reasons you mentioned: closed shoe and and casual weekend wear.

I'm glad the cons survived the cut. I love mine--both pairs. Too bad about the shirt. I have similiar issues with denim shirts, although whenever I see them on others, I always wish I had one.

QM, great decision. I can agonize as well and always feel relief to settle on a solution that seems *right*!

Great outcome! I love the green shoes and I have had my eye on some similar red ones which I dithered on so long they sold out. After this post I am thinking I might be brave enough to try the lavender. I feel exactly that way after I reach a return conclusion which I have struggled with. I get such a sense of relief.

sc-I don't wear skirts and I don't have any khaki pants. And more pants are not on my list. I know.,. it was hard to make that choice, but I knew it was right. I'll be much better off with something more versatile.

I've been agonizing over these two purchases all weekend, and finally came to a decision. I had bought green converse (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/co.....n=wishlist) but was wondering if I should go with a loafer or oxford instead. I played with them again this morning and decided that yes, they would fill my need for a sporty, casual, closed shoe that will take me through the non-sandal season. They will most likely be mostly weekend wear, but that's okay, cuz that's what I needed.

I also bought this Gap denim shirt after 2 years of hoping to find a perfect one...
http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....=202386002
I loved everything about it, but I don't like it (on me) with jeans. It is great with my white jeans, but that's it. With blue jeans it feels sloppy. I realized I can't keep a shirt that only goes with one item of clothing in my closet. I need to return it and wait for a more versatile casual top to find it's way to me.

I know it sounds crazy, but I feel so relieved to have come to a decision. It was like a burden was lifted from me as I dropped the shirt into the return bag. THAT is when I know I've made the right decision.

Whew! I can rest in peace now.. LOL

Anyone else experience this?
