Patent can be stretched, but won't stretch as much as softer leathers (said my shoe guy). He also said that when you put them on after stretching, they might feel shug, but should relax back out in a minute (like a balloon that has been blown up is easier the blow up the next time). </p> <p>I found this true for some patent loafers I had stretched. They still don't make my all-day comfort criteria, but at least I will wear them!</p> <p>Sizing up rarely works for me. Do you have a narrow heel? That gets bigger too. I've not had good luck with other styles from Cole Haan but the Skylar works for me. My foot is definitely on the wide side. I usually wear a 7.5, in flats I can sometimes wear a 7. </p> <p>The Skylar felt snug when I put it on but it definitely loosened up as I wore it. I have a bit of extra length because it's fairly pointed and length wise I maybe could have worn a 7 but was glad I went with the 7.5 for comfort. </p> <p>I too love that blue color.
