We made it! Ferry docked after midnight; by the time we biked to the campsite & got set up, it was 3 am. We saw more shooting stars that night than the night we spent in hammocks on the beach—cloud cover :(. The next morning we woke up in a lovely little spot.

Update: no idea when we are going! German locomotive drivers are on strike. I support unions and think they make this country better, but man, does this mess with our plans!

Sally, we’re just going to the very Southern tip—Falster Island. The train lines there are out/being rebuilt—otherwise we’d go to Møn. Sounds like you had a wonderful time.

I'm useless at camping. But I loved Denmark. I travelled around on the train with my mother as her mother's family were from Denmark. where abouts are you going?

I can’t say that I do since I got into campfire baking. Hiking yes, car camping no.

Thanks Jenn. Washing up things are in the bag, but now I’ve added them to the list here. Sea to Summit is a good brand. I’m keeping that sink in mind for if this is a success and we decide to do it again

RL, do you double up on functionality when you go car camping?

How about a sponge for washing up? You might have easy access to a camp sink for dishes, but if not, I really loved having a collapsible sink, similar to this one:
https://www.rei.com/product/75.....-10-literso

I’m still getting ready for this very small trip to Denmark. They say that you use the same kit for a weekend trip as you do to go around the world.

Right now I’m geeking out over a little cookware win: I had purchased GSI enameled deep plates. The high sides meant they’d work as bowls for stew, the bananas, oatmeal, etc, but the enamel is too thin to hold up to cooking. Now I’ve stumbled across paella pans that are exactly the same size. We will use them for cooking and for eating from. They have corners at the bottom, so won’t be quite as easy to eat from, but the added functionality with no added weight is a win in my book!

Kitchen contents:
2 paella pans/plates
2 LC mini-cocottes
2 pie irons (not actually in bag—handles will extend along top bar of my bike)
Small saucepan & lid
Cutting board
Knife/sheath
Burner
Butane
Lighter
Potholder
“Sock” for making coffee
Mug
Tongs
Eating utensils
Can opener (grocery store version, much cheaper than camp stores & not much bigger)
Clothesline w clips
Dishcloth/towel

It all goes in a little bag to go on the rear rack on my bike.
