In the second set of photos I LOVE how the lavender dress brings out the pink in the jacket. I really do think the jacket is more than acceptable to wear the jacket, after all, this is the time when some ladies kick of their shoes and men loosen their ties.

The only alternative I would suggest is to borrow one on hubby's warmest pullovers for a non traditional, grown up grunge look.

Ok, I am officially changing my mind and voting yay on the rose gold. I do still think it would be better more cropped, but someone above made a wise comment about the dress not being you. I suspect I might always find something off about you in lavender chiffon. And I realized the the jacket makes the dress so much more your style, so I think you should go for it. Besides, I really do like the colors together.

I may be too late on this but I feel like the metallic jacket paired with this dress is so quintessentially you. It is the best expression of your style the way I know it to be. The black jacket feels like a poor imitation of what you'd really like to wear. I half way expect you to have some sassy boots on under that dress. I hope you wear the moto because it's gorgeous and perfectly Rae.

Vicki, the Bebe is posted above in pic 3 - got voted down, and it is less comfy.

Irene, I made my suggestions, and long, lavender chiffon was what the bride was firm on. *shrug* I would have worn a sack if she asked me to.

Donna, I think renting something would cost more than just buying a cheapie tuxedo jacket from F21.

Sigh... this whole thing is tiring me out. I don't really want to stress this much when all eyes should be on the bride, anyway. I know that as a "stylist" I should strive to look fashionable in all situations, but again, I don't have to make it about my style at all.

I think you look "cool" in the gold and you want to stay "warm," right? With the scrunch factor, you're making that lavender Bridesmaid's dress stand up and take notice, IYKWIM!

This is way off base, but what about the white Bebe pleather? It's a lighter color, for sure, and the "pleather" will certainly keep you warm.

I missed the bridesmaid thread, but I'm wondering if there's a way you can rent or borrow a topper? Or is it just the fancy dresses that one rents? I can't see you ever wearing a dress in that color (or style) voluntarily, so the toppers that would go best are unlikely to fit in with the rest of your wardrobe. So you either buy something that you know will be a orphan, or buy/wear something that you like a whole lot better but maybe gets mixed reviews with that particular dress. JMHO. And I do like the rose jacket btw.

thank you all for taking the time to give me input on this! I think I'm going to go ahead and where the rose gold jacket. Like Nadia said, most people will probably think I just got cold and had to throw something on. but this way, I don't have clutter up my closet with something I don't even want! And I get to keep a fun jacket that I can wear for a lot more things. firecracker, you also made a lot of good points that I took to heart.

I vote for the rose gold leather jacket. My initial reaction was, "Wow, that's cool and different, but she doesn't look happy with it." I wonder if your expression in the photos may be slightly influencing the responses you're getting here.

For whom are you dressing? Is it important that most people at the wedding "get" your look? Then maybe go with a more conservative bolero jacket. But ( you can tell where I'm going, can't you? Not in favor of safe, conservative dressing for you, our stylish fashion consultant). . . I think the gold leather jacket is more you. Your husband likes it; so you have an immediate ally to walk into that party like you know fashion, you know your style, and you're wearing that bridesmaid dress, thank you! I think it looks at least as good as (and in my opinion, better than) most of the traditional dressy-topper options. It looks fashion-forward, appropriately dressy (with the gold color, I do think it can go formal), and it will keep you warm. Plus, you don't have to buy a jacket that you will probably wear only once! You're dressing for one event, and it's someone else's wedding.
Hmm? What do you say?

The new picture with the rosegold us like a different outfit. The scrunching is good. The colors, in this one, are really nice together. Here, they don't look accidental. The jacket looks dressier. It's way better. Better than the other options, though I like the periwinkle. The Bebe looks too casual, but take another picture and maybe it will be different.

I am late to the party, but I am rooting for the black blazer - without of course knowing what the material is and how casual it looks in real life. That said, I love blazers worn ball gowns. Reminds me of these looks:

Well, I'll bump the percentage a teeny bit, because I love the dress with the jacket. It's very supermodel chic to me. IKWYM about weddings though, brides and families obsess about weird things. But here's how I look at - you're not going to wear the jacket during the formal events like the ceremony or photos. So when you are wearing the jacket some people will think it looks fabulous and some will think "the poor dear is cold and she had to just throw on whatever jacket she had with her."

Rae, Suz made me think of your earlier question about bridesmaids changing for the reception. I haven't seen it done, but no way am I an expert. This sounds like a perfect time for it to happen. I would talk to the bride and/or other bridesmaids to see if this would be acceptable. Given the expected temps, surely this is the saner solution? Put on a sweater dress or elegant pants and sweater? At least make sure hubby, if he's going, dresses warmly enough to give you his jacket and not freeze himself!

I think you need a cute cropped cardigan. I'm chilly just thinking about this situation. Or just wear DH's suit jacket.

What Pawprints said!

But...if I may vent a little bit....whose crazy idea is it to put people in sleeveless diaphanous gowns and then plop them outside in the chilly air for hours on end? What the heck?

Nice. Elegant, sexy but understated.

Concerns: Will the bright warm gold look good to you against pale cool lavender? I really don't know, just asking. More important, I think you're going to freeze in this. I cant bear being really cold for a long period, especially at dressy outdoor events. What do you think? Besides that you just want to be done with this?!

Mkay. If 90% of YLFers don't like it, then I don't think the wedding guests or in-laws will get it, either. I don't want anyone thinking I am rebelling against the party or something...

What about something like this? I'm wearing my gold glitter pumps.
