MG, I'm sorry they didn't work out, but at least you figured it out now when they're returnable instead of after you'd worn them out & about. If it makes you feel better, my toes are wide too, no taper in sight. In fact, my toe box is the widest part of my foot (duck style, hehe)! When I started knitting socks, I couldn't figure out why all of the patterns called for the toes to narrow so much, until I was measuring my grandma's feet & saw that her toes *do* taper. My whole immediate family has wide, round toes, so I had no clue other people's feet tapered! lol (Now I just modify all of the sock patterns so that my socks are twice as wide at the toe as the pattern calls for.)

(While I realise the Aurora shoes probably aren't smart enough for work, that does mean they'll probably be very comfortable on you: they definitely have a round, generous toe!)

Love the look of these, but I agree with the others about the toe pinching. If you can get that resolved one way or the other, I think you'll get tons of use from them.

I think these look great with your feet/ankle/legs, not too refined with the pointy toe IMO. I'm laughing at the "witchy" adjective as I have two pair of shoes that DH calls either my "nun shoes" or my "pilgrim shoes." I called them my rainy day shoes. If sizing up is not an option, perhaps a cobbler can stretch them at the exact spots where they are tight.

Thank you everyone for all your feedback. I wore them around the house for most of the morning and I think they have to go back. I don't think sizing up would work as my heels already slip in the size that I have. So sad ...

ETA: the pointyness is not extreme - I think most women would find these comfy, but I have high volume feet and spatula toes, and alas, I can never wear pointy toes ...

Love the look of these shoes (as you know - lol!) but toe pinching is no good and I suspect the leather would not stretch enough to make that more comfortable. I'm another one who suggests trying a half size up if possible.

They are gorgeous and would add edge and juxtaposition to your more boho looks. But I do agree that half size up would be good. Trust me ... That toe pinching doesn't stop! I always have to size up with pointy toes.

I love the look of those shoes, but I have a pair of pointy-toe shoes that pinch that I am unable to wear, so you don't want that to happen! Maybe a half size up will give you some more room.

I would try sizing up half a size. If you are finding that the toes pinch, that might solve the problem. I know it's a problem of width not length, but a longer toe box can fix it. As long as the arch is still in the correct place.

Gorgeous colour and would be great for work.

I think the style and color are quite fab and seem look a perfect choice for you!

But you do want them to be comfortable. I wear a medium width but my feet are on the widish side. With pointy toed shoes and boots, I often size up a half size. I agree that it might be worth a try?

Well, I think they look super cool and definitely fit your style. But toe pinching is no good! You could try going up a half size - it may make other parts too big but can help with the toe thing.

My toes naturally DO slant and I STILL get toe pinching in some pointy toes. In my case it's actually my little toe that gets pinched - it's very short (whereas my other toes are medium to long) but kind of misshapen and likes to stick out funny so it does not like to be constrained.

ETA: just saw the comment above about the little toe making a bump in soft leather. This does happen to me. In fact I have worn HOLES in my shoes at the little toe, from the inside. I just live with it. It's worth it for the comfort.

FAB! I think your concerns about a too chunky leg for the shoe are unfounded. THe look is quite seamless. I have wide feet and sometimes a too supple leather will 'give' a little too much which in turn creates a jutting out of the little toe that breaks the smooth line of the shoe from the side to the point, if that makes sense. Something to keep in mind if they're too tight in the toebox.
Such a great looking shoe!

I love how they look on you. But the toe pinching thing gives me pause: my feet don't taper either (neither do my mom's or sister's: I suspect toe shape is genetic!) & even if I was working in an office, I wouldn't be able to handle 8 hours of pinching (my poor little toe is always the victim). Maybe wear them around the house for a few days to see if the leather gives at all before committing? It'd be pretty sad if you ended up dreading wearing them. Also, they're close toed: is there space for socks if you need to wear them in cooler weather? What about trying half a size up for more width?

The blue double strap Fidji loafers arrived on Monday. The are gorgeous in person, and the leather is a very soft and lovely deep blue. They are also somewhat sleeker than they appear in the photo, with a gently pointed toe. I wonder if they are perhaps too sleek/refined for my pretty chunky legs? Photo 1 is them on my feet, Photo 2 with my navy linen trousers, and Photo 3 with relaxed fit trousers, rolled a bit to show the ankle - this is how I would mostly wear them, I think.

At first they were just this side of uncomfortable, but I added a half insert, which raised my foot just enough to keep the sides from digging into my ankle, and I also loosened both straps by one notch. They do pinch a bit at the toes - I have never worn pointy toed shoes and so my feet do not taper like most women - but the leather is supple and I think will stretch to accommodate, plus these are meant to be professional shoes, not pound the pavement city shoes.

I have nothing even remotely like this in my wardrobe. I love the idea of them, I love the color, I love the vaguely steampunk/witchy vibe. I'm not sure if I need to keep them because they are like nothing I have, or if I need to return them because they are like nothing I have. I would wear them as work shoes, so mostly with trousers (as shown in Pics 2 and 3) and I desperately need a closed work shoe in navy. I do think they could fit into my East Meets Wild Wild West style, given that the second "wild" is meant to connote a sort of fantasy Edwardian vibe.

Well sorry for the novel ... in short, Keep or Return, Fabbers?
