Just quickly logging back in to say thanks to Suz for the kind and thoughtful jacket suggestions! (And thanks to Janet and Shevia for their feedback.)

I absolutely love the printed bomber! And the simple black AT one, which, alas, looks like it's sold out now. In fact, I pretty much see no reason NOT to order the bomber to try.

I really like the shapes of the other two and will keep them in mind. If it weren't for some hesitation about other parts of the overall designs (not sure leather sleeves or all-over animal print is my thing), I'd probably be veeeery tempted to order them too.

I agree, the dresses are great on you, and I love that tweedy moto on you! I would pass on the grey blazer and find another jacket that lives up to the standard of the moto.

Here are a couple of possibilities to take a look at -- I know you've had luck at Loft before with other items. I haven't seen any in person. But these are some of the styles you might just try on.

Suz, I think you may be right on classic blazers not being for me. At least I I can do soft drape, right?

Definitely like the idea of looking for another moto. And trying collarless styles is another good bit of advice. I could see the more classic Chanel-style ones maybe looking a little matronly on me, but that's probably something where I'd just need to pay extra attention to the fabrication and the details to get one that's a little more modern-looking. And I think I'd really enjoy a cutaway-style one. Maybe in a nice, simple black?

I probably should figure out my actual body type at some point. As far as I can tell, it seems to be an unwieldy combo of all of them except rectangle. Plus extreme shortness to make things more fun.

Good job. I think it's the right decision. Your dollars might be better spent looking for another moto style jacket to supplement the one you're getting from BR. That style is easier for you to fit.

Another style you might consider is the kind of collarless jacket Angie often recommends for apple body types. Either with a round collar (Chanel style) or a cutaway V front (if you can find in petite). I have a feeling the fit issues might be smaller with this style of jacket.

It's frustratingly true, but heeding those body type recommendations can help us identify styles that work for us a lot quicker. Maybe the classic blazer is just not for you. Just like -- alas -- the cutaway jacket (much as I adore it) and soft drape are not for me?

Okay, I think I'm returning the gray blazer. Probably the tweed dress too, since there's probably something similar but better out there.

Thanks, everyone!

The moto is ordered! In both petite and regular. Will post when it gets here.

I hear what people are saying about the gray jacket. And, Laura and Marley, that's a good point about it being long for dresses. Alana, that's interesting about the color being too low-contrast on me. I think I generally lean a little lower-contrast than many people with my coloring because I go for a lot of dark colors and (maybe semi-consciously) because it fits my reserved, easy-going, drama-avoiding self better, but I do see what you're saying.

I think my eyes are maybe clouded by how easy and wearable the jacket seems. And the fact that I've had so many jacket attempts before that haven't even managed to reach "okay." Maybe I'll sleep on it, since I want to get the returns from this order out tomorrow morning.

And I wasn't thinking of returning the tweed dress before, but now I'm kind of wondering if I maybe should, since it seems like there's a lot of lukewarmness about it. I like it, but am not super-attached to it. And I do have an easier time finding dresses than, oh, every other article of clothing ever so, if I let it go, there'll probably be others. Looking at it again, maybe the fuller skirt in the fairly stiff, thick ponte isn't the most flattering look ever for me?

I agree with the others. The back fit of the grey jacket isn't the best, but I really like the tweedy moto. Both of the dresses seem fine, but the blue one really pops!

Moto all the way! It is wonderful. I can't see the dresses in enough detail to comment--but both colours are wonderful on you. Not a fan of the grey. I don't like the colour all that much. You seem to be a high contrast gal and that jacket will drag that energy down. Sorry. Just ignore me if I am off the mark.

I vote for the tweed moto and the blue dress! Both are super flattering on you. I think that the gray is a bad fit and not the most flattering coloring for you. Also, if you want a blazer to wear with dresses IMO this one is too long!

I agree with everyone and think the grey jacket is also too long, at least for dresses, and that's a lot of what you wear. The dresses are great and the moto definitely has promise. The length is much more flattering on you as is the shape.

Yay! I was really hoping you'd weigh in and like them, Suz, since I've really appreciated all your advice in previous rounds of Blazer Search 2014.

I may have to order the moto! And I like the idea of getting both petite and regular to compare. It probably would've been in this order to begin with, actually, because it had originally caught my eye online, but I got annoyed that it was part of the BR Picks or whatever so the discount code they were running didn't apply. But if I end up loving it and wearing it regularly, even full-price BR would be a bargain.

For the gray jacket, I'm completely fine with "okay." I figure it's kind of like jacket training wheels so I can start playing around with jackets as part of my everyday wardrobe. And I do think the back looks better in real life, or at least it does when I get a glimpse in the mirror vs. when I try to take pictures.

Wow, I really like the tweedy moto on you! I think it's DEFINITELY worth ordering in petite and regular to compare with the things in your closet -- it looks like a great style for you and much easier to fit than a classic blazer.

For the money, the grey jacket looks okay. The back fit isn't great, but if you are all right with that, for the price maybe it's a keep? (It may look different when your arms are down and in motion, after all -- it is tough to photograph yourself without dislodging the fabric.)

The dresses both look good, especially the blue -- what a fun colour for you.

As some of you may remember, I've been on a semi-ongoing search to find a blazer or other structured topper that fits and flatters me. Which is turning out to be a challenge in multiple ways, since I'm not really shaped for blazers and , even after lots of helpful feedback from more clueful YLFers, I'm still not quite sure how to even judge if something works.

Latest attempt: I ordered some stuff from BR/Gap/ON, and couldn't help throwing two sizes of this gray ponte blazer in. The PM seemed small, so no pics here, but I'm wondering if the PL has a chance. It feels like something I could pretty effortlessly sub in for a neutral cardigan when I want a little variety or extra polish, which is basically what I'm looking for. Since this is only about $30, I'm not looking for the most amazing fit and quality ever. But does this look like something worth keeping around at all? It looks like there's maybe a little excess fabric in the back, but it seems like it's either that or the thing where it's pulling and the fabric on the back kind of folds into lines. It feels roomy and closes comfortably (although I wouldn't wear it like that). It's also machine washable, which is a nice bonus.

I'm also adding pictures of another BR jacket (the tweedy moto) that I tried on in-store out of curiosity over the weekend. Worth ordering? This is a regular, and it's also available in petite.

Besides (maybe?) the gray jacket, what did work out from the order were two ON dresses that seem like they'll be good cold-weather basics. The tweedy one has a nice texture and looks like it could be a good complement and quasi-replacement to a black ponte sheath that's starting to look pilled, and the blue one is a really pretty color and will work both alone and layered. Please ignore messy hair and glazed-over expression in blue dress pic.

Thanks for looking! I always appreciate all feedback.
