They are too big for me, but I love how they look on the right person. The designs and prints are gorgeous and I adore scarves. This is one trend I have to pass up but will happily admire on others.

I tried one on in Zara the other day and immediately had to pull it off. It had strangled me. It was huge though. More on the blanket side and less of a scarf. Good luck. I always liked the look on others, but I don't have much of a neck, so that might have been it too. Plus I don't like feeling restricted at all.

Thanks for all your input and ideas! I am 5 foot 4 and slender. Another concern that I have is that this kind of scarf would unwrap and fall off my shoulders as I move around. I always hated those capes that you threw over your shoulder and they were supposed to stay there...hah! Mine always fell off. I suppose I should go to the mall and play around with some of these scarves to see how they actually look and feel on me.

I'm not a small person (5'9", size 14) but too much stuff around my neck makes me annoyed. I'd go for something in a normal chunky scarf size, not the giant blanket scarf size.

If others like it, more power to them. Visually it does make a fun impact, especially on a small frame.

I don't care for a scarf that's too big or blanket-like on me. For one thing, it tends to feel fussy and unwieldy. It also doesn't look right on me. Even though I'm not a small person (5'7"), I have a small head and can look ovewhelmed by too-dramatic scarves, lapels or hats.

My new plaid scarf (which you can see here) is rather big - 29.5x75" and a cashmere wool mix, so not super thin and drapy. I'm mostly wearing it as outerwear, so I take it off when I'm inside. But I love it for that! It's awesome. And I've already used it on trains as a blanket, when the air condition was arctic. When you're under it for a while your body heat makes it work like a heating blanket. So comfortable!

Too big for me. Wrapping a blanket around my neck is not my idea of fun. In my opinion, it looks good on some, ok on others, and quite unfortunate on many. The tissue-weight wrap from Nordstrom is about as big as I care to deal with, and that's 28x80" (really, half that width would be just fine, no need to feel like I'm wearing a cervical collar).

I bought a knock off version of a popular zara blanket scarf on eBay. I'm 5'5 and slender but I have a long neck so overall I think it doesn't overwhelm me. But it takes working with it to get it to fall just right, not to overwhelm my face etc. I don't find it easy to wear but I do feel fab in it about to travel next week and that scarf is coming with me to go triple duty as big scarf, nursing cover up and blanket for the plane!!

One of the stores my DD and I go into a lot - Aritzia - always has a stack of them in a variety of almost aztec-like prints. Really big oblong wraps. I keep fingering them because I'm drawn to the colours and patterns, plus I like scarves , but they are so huge i'm not sure where they'd be practical outside of wearing in a chilly office while seated at your desk. All of the SA's in Aritzia are tiny girls, and they all wear them running around the store - and look oh-so-chic:) I'm convinced half of the clothes in stores these days are produced for women working in retail.

I have several and love them for their style and warmth. I'm a size 12 and 5-7, so they don't overwhelm me. I think they are kind of supposed to be a big statement. If you want to indulge but not pay dearly for an expensive cashmere pashmina, buy a knock off from Target to dip your toes into the style pool. Not a huge investment. My fave so far is a pale ble and gray one I got from GAP. Every time I wear it, it wins compliments.

Hi all,
I haven't been following closely for a while, so I don't know if you all have already talked this topic to death, but I am wondering what you ladies think about the "blanket scarf" trend I am seeing online so much. I mean those really BIG, thick winter scarves. Are you wearing them? If so, do they work for you? I am not petite, but I am on the smaller, delicate-boned end of the body size spectrum and am wondering if a scarf like that would completely overwhelm me.
Any thoughts welcome!
