Bit late to this, but I like 1, 3, 6 and 8 and not the others. I do see the problem in the right thigh of 1 though, as well.

Dang, I am impressed! At several thousand miles away, Angie & Carla picked up on a thing in those pants that neither the friend who picked them up for me nor I managed to see, despite holding them in our hands. On closer inspection, I see that there is indeed a thing on the area I asked about—the right thigh. If I can wear them with the dress, I will. Otherwise, the cream pants are out. (Keeping score—the joggers are already out, the black pants are on a hanger with my black Esprit pants, the linen & silk pants from J Petermann (#2 & 3) are waiting for spring, and the windowpane pants will be pressed into service whenever life calls for them).

I like the pants in #6 and think #1 would be ok with the lace dress. The last pair, (windowpane check), might be shortened into ankle pants or even shorts if the rise feels long enough. I like Run Carla’s idea of making black and white outfits.

Liesbeth, those are my favorites from this batch! They are from a different lifestyle, one I’d like to get back to. I feel a metaphor coming on—just like the pants would be styled differently now, my life could get elements from back then, but still needs current effects. Or something like that.

I can never tell when I’m mixing black & navy in a way that looks “intentional” and when it looks like I “got dressed in the dark”. I like my black & navy striped tights because I think they help me tie things together. The sweater in 5 & 14 above helps like that too, because it also has both. The cami I have on in today’s pix is navy with black lace; if I can figure out a way to let it peek out in an outfit, I will (but I’m doubtful, because of how low its neckline is). Black and navy can be hard to tell apart in pix, but irl unrelieved black can swamp me really easily.

Why not treat navy and black the same for the purpose of your experiment, since in photos they sometimes read the same? Personally, I love navy and black together. My favourite sweater is a marled navy and black cotton turtleneck.

Got it! Great memory! I have a couple others as well—here are most of them. I’ve posted outfits with some of them, but maybe not all of these. Is the puckered part on those pants the bit near the zipper?

Earlier this year you showed a b+w mini skirt with stripes that go both horizontally and vertically (I think - or maybe there were some large dots?) I think it was a wrap skirt, or had a wrap effect?

Thanks Carla. 1 are the pants I thought of when you suggested trying that lacy dress as a tunic; worth it? I have noticed that I have a lot of black & white pattern pieces, even before this box arrived. I tend to wear those things with bright colors (often berry), but you’re right, I could try some all b/w mixes. It is hard to tell black from navy in the pix—pants #3 are navy, as are the striped box pleat skirt and the window pane pants. This jumpsuit is also navy/white (even though it’s hard to tell in posts). What is the “optic mini”?

#1 white pants have a weird pull in the fabric. This happened to me, and is why my CK white jeans are no longer in my closet. Sometimes the stretch in the weft (crosswise threads) gets overstretched and doesn’t zip back. Not fixable. Donate or toss.
#2 beige pleated, tapered - very much back in fashion, LOL! Give them a nice press to get rid of the creases.

#3 (and #6) black pants - hard to make out due to not enough contrast. They look okay!? Length? Maybe try a roll to feature some of your cool boots.
#4 is too short through the rise - pass it on

#7 same as above
#8 keep*

@fashintern - I understand that you really like your berry colours, but I’m seeing that you have a pretty sharp black and white capsule going on - windowpane pants, striped skirt, optic mini, black footwear, etc. Why don’t you group all your really good black and white, black, and white pieces and try a mix and match styling session to get some outfit ideas and learn what might be missing to give you a really functional capsule. You have so much ‘stuff’ that sometimes it is hard to see the forest for the trees!

Thanks Angie! I appreciate your eagle eye.
Should I let out the seam on 8?
If the kink you mean in #1 is on the right thigh, I think it’s just wrinkles that will iron out. If it does, then what would you think of them?
I’ll have to do a “playing in the closet” post about 2&3 once it starts warming up again. They are linen (2) and silk (3).

I had hoped to get back to our storage locker in Tampa long ago. My sister and a friend of mine recently hit it up to send us kitchen things, my son’s Lego, boots for me, and a bunch of clothes that mostly fit now. Yaaaaaaay

Now I get to sort it all out to see what parts I actually want. It’s like my own personal second hand store. Some items are clearly too dressy for this moment, but might be appropriate by the end of winter—I hope to get back to a life where I can wear the dressy dresses. Some items fit better than others. I don’t need to sort for that—as long as they’re in the ballpark, I’d ratherassess that in the morning as I’m getting dressed instead of assuming that my bod won’t change again—I’m sure it will. Going through the clothes, even more than the kitchen stuff, was a walk down memory lane. But I don’t need to be that for people I pass on the street. Even in an era of DYOT, some items just might not work. For the pants, especially, please help me decide whether they are something that fits in this year, and possibly make suggestions for items that seem particularly difficult.

Note: halfway through taking the pix, I realized the dustpan and brush were in the background. Please ignore them. Also, I’m wearing the same base layer in all of these—my sparkly Uniqlo Heat Tech tights and a cami with built-in shelf bra. If it bothers you to see such things, it’s best you click on through to the next post.

PS. I broke this into several posts, because it’s just too many pix otherwise. They all have the same text before the picture lists.

I left the tights on under all the pants. Some will clearly be better without the extra layer!

1. Skinny pants from Moda International (Victoria’s Secret) from the 90s.
2. J. Petermann linen pinstripes. What do we think of the pleats & baggy legs?
3. More J Petermann, navy, similar cut
4. These also have a fine pinstripe
5. Banana Republic self pinstripes
6. Gap bootcut, black
7. Silk joggers that I bought as a weight-loss inducement. Sadly, I think they are too short & won’t ever fit. Do you agree?
8. Mostly wool, navy & cream, could work for this winter??? The hem is at least an inch—I might have it let out some.
