I have a couple of J. Brand. I would say try whatever is the smallest size you usually wear in jeans. I fluctuate between two sizes depending on the brand. In my experience J. Brand are somehow more forgiving than other denims with weight fluctuations. I am not sure why. Maybe they have more stretch?

I''m in love with my James Jean brand Hunters. They are straight, and the rise is about 9''. I bought my last pair at Bluefly.

Maya, you and I used to share the same waist and hip measurements, IIRC. At that time (my measurements have also changed a bit the last month or so), I typically wore a 26 or 27 in jeans. I found that the 27 fit me just right in J brand skinnies. HTH!

Yes, I have those Tam. I'd like something a teensy bit less skin tight though, so I can wear them as regular jeans. Basically somewhere in between my 7FAM Roxannes and the BDG jeggings.

I am 100% into J.Brand. My favourites as far as skinnies go. They do run smaller apparently, but weirdly, I wear the same size in all my jeans, accept Diesel. With Diesel I go up a size. I love my Gap leans too.

Thanks for the responses. I have never tried Paige before but it sounds like I should.

Does anyone have any input on J Brand? A lot of their fits seem to come close to what I'm looking for but I have heard a few people say they run very, very small. I'm not sure what that means in practical terms though. One size? Two sizes?

I do like the Joe's shorts I have. I don't think the Provocateur would work for me, even though I am peite, since the rise also seems shorter than usual. I like a good 8.5" in the front (at least), and 13" in the back.

My premium jeans are Joe's Prov and James Jeggings. The Joe's are bootcuts, they seem to have some new styles that are more straight or skinny "baby bells" that I would consider these days. They do miracles for your rear view. I am also pleasantly surprised by the Angie recommended gap Jeggings. I paid less than $40 for them during a recent promotion and they have been getting quite the work out lately. I'm not a big fan of getting jeans shortened because the results are not always consistent. All of these come in lengths that work for me as a petite.

My favorite premium denim right now are: Hudson Flap Pocket Petite Bootcut, Hudson Felix Flare (I had to get them hemmed they were not petite length), Joe's Petite Provocateur, and Paige Premium Jeggings.

Another vote for Paige premium denim. It might take a little trial and error to find the stye and size that works best for you, but it's SO worth it! I've never been more satisfied with a brand (and I'm a longtime jeans hunter!). The double button "girdling" effect is super comfortable and flattering. Paige Hidden Hills are my special love (like Sparky), but there are skinny Paiges, too. Good luck!

Thanks to Angie, Lisa and a couple of others here, I have recently become a total convert to Joe's Jeans, specifically the Provocateur style in petite. I do not like a really low rise, and I find their rise to be the perfect medium for me. I did not need to hem either - a major plus!

J Brand for skinnies ~ those were very flattering on me but I didn't stalk them to snag at a sale price. Paige Premium Hidden Hills for bootcuts both in the petite and regular length ~ I love both the dark washes and the optic white. These were all recently on sale at both Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. I can't tell you how much I love the Paige Hidden Hills cut, although I know you're not looking for bootcut. A big shout out to Angie and this forum for teaching me about this Paige style; they turned out to be perfect for me.

I still love my GAP jeggings that I got last August.

I'm a recent convert to Paige, and I've seen them in the Rack.

I haven't tried on jeans since my recent weight loss -- I also don't bother much with jeans during the summer. I have a shelf full of size 10/30 jeans that are now baggy on me, so I'll be joining you in the jean shopping effort later in the summer. Since I'm continuing my running and am planning to run another half marathon in October, some more weight loss/body change is still possible, so I'm reluctant to buy anything now.

I also hear good things about some cuts of Joe's Jeans, and in fact bought a pair of casual, lightweight, almost chambray, cropped Joe's pants that I wore last week -- very comfy in hot weather!

Remember a while back I was pondering overhauling my denim wardrobe because I lost weight but wasn't sure if it was permanent? Well, I gave it some time and it doesn't seem to be changing--if anything I have shrunk even more. Even some of my 26's feel a bit loose, let alone my 27's and 28's.

Since I don't wear jeans in the summer, now would be a good time to do my research and get shopping. So let's have it: What are your favorite premium brands and styles? I am looking specifically for super slim skinnies (almost but not quite jeggings), and straight drainpipe legs. The higher the rise, the better.

I won't be able to pay full price so I'd prefer things I can find at the Rack or Bluefly or elsewhere at a discount.
