Unless they have changed their leathers or production methods (and they may have!?) I would size down slightly so that they are not so loose in the width. Mine were always slightly tight in the beginning and then felt like slippers after a short break in period. Make sure you ordered a UK size 4/US size 6. Sometimes in kids shoes I have to size down to 3.5 (~5.5 women's) because they are cut wider. I am not sure if sizing down would have helped. I think either an insert or thick socks would have helped. I ended up returning primarily because I felt the 20 eyelets hit me at a weird spot on my calf. That was really the main reason. I love the wiggle room it also means I can wear thick socks when it's really cold and not have squished toes. Yay for docs! They do feel a bit roomy in the toe box, which is surprising. Not uncomfortably big or loose, but just strange, like my toes are in a little echo chamber. </p> <p>I fear that if I size down to a 5, they will be too tight because my feet are wide. My other Docs are all 6 (or Brit size 4), so maybe it's normal with such a rounded toe box? Is it okay for them to be a bit long as long as they otherwise fit? </p> <p>I know Astrid was planning to size up.
