approprio, Thanks for the post. Great piece and I love color.

I took the plunge and purchased this "dickie / hoodie" also, though in a darker color. I have a long puffer coat that I like, but it has no hood. This fits in nicely under the coat and may be a great solution. Only caution is that it's roomy and I hope that doesn't mean cold air get in. Fits under jackets also. Ordered both black and navy and still deciding the best color. My coat is black but navy is more flattering next to my face. Thinking this could also be a good holiday gift ........... unique.

Gosh I bet it’s warm. I get a very cold back in winter so would love something like this but with a heated pad for the back. I really like the last outfit. It goes well with the printed sweater and joggers.

Ooh this looks very stylish on you! Red/ pink accents sounds good - just like teal is a pseudo neutral for me

Good point on the difference between a dicky (dickie?) & a hooded neck warmer - I actually have two & have been struggling on how to style them (the black one is slimmer so it works 'traditionally' but the brown one is too big & puffy) so thanks for the inspiration on wearing it *over* stuff. Works much better for subtropical, humid showers!

Yes! I would totally support the idea of red and pink as neutrals that help bring your wardrobe together. Yes yes!

Lol the pragmatist on the Canadian prairies only sees the practical application for a hood/neck warmer!!! Your vision is far more interesting!

Bijou, you say the loveliest things! I am a huge Grace Jones fan. Of course I am.

Janet, LBD, CarolS: it makes more sense like that, right? A kind of scarf/hat hybrid?

Who cares? Functionality is secondary. This is one of those pieces that ties a whole section of my wardrobe together, the way some Dude’s rug really ties the room together. Speaking of which, look at what I found in the gift shop!

https://dutchmuseumgiftshop.nl.....pnion-man/

Serious question: I have a tentative plan to develop a capsule of red and pink accents. Should I think about colors in this range as a sort of subsidiary neutral?

Very interesting piece! Love the colour. I think I like it best paired with something that is not already a puffer -- so 3 and 4 are my favourites.

I see it as the practical addition to a wool coat with open neckline (worn over, not under), or, as you suggest, maybe over something lighter for transitional warmth (although if I'm cold enough to want my neck warmed, I'm cold enough to want a full jacket!)

Keep us posted as to what you decide!

Like MB, I thought neck warmer rather than dickie — I can absolutely see how a too puffy back piece would not make it feasible to tuck in. Great match with that sleeve detailing on the jacket.

I love this!

I don’t see it as a dickie. My immediate thought was “hooded scarf” or “hooded neckwarmer”

Angie, right! I like the left field cabin crew vibe I get from the color coordination. Is it too literal though? It reminds me of the inflatable vests at Balenciaga, which I mocked but wanted all the same.

As for the fit, I have yet to do an exhaustive survey. I think it is designed for the loose, off the shoulder neckline that is trending right now. Fabric weight may also be a factor. I will keep trying.

To answer your question, LJP, I tucked it into the revers and tamed it with a bag strap. It behaved as far as I could tell.

Jaime: not just for winter! On its own, perfect for transitional weather, when it’s not quite cold enough for an extra layer. Not that I’m enabling or anything. I like how it feels high concept and mildly ridiculous at the same time. Is this what Ms Tibi would call “a little bit off”?

Extra fun with your Star Trek jacket in #3 because of how it matches the stripes on the sleeves.

Maybe you and Mr Edge can come to an agreement or compromise where you wear his pink slippers with your pink dickie and he can use your dickie when he wears his slippers. I understand they are different shades of pink but perhaps tonal enough..

…followed me home yesterday. It’s a keeper for sure. Thanks Angie for getting me to look in Cos for hot pink!

The material is lush and the colour intense. More redness to it than the classic Schiaparelli pink I usually wear. The hood design is very neat. It does more or less what I want it to with some pieces, was a pleasant surprise with others, and, it has to be said, is totally unsuccessful in what it’s supposed to do.

You see, this piece does not sit well inside a coat. There is too much filling in the back panel for it to lie flat, so unless the look you are going for is Quasimodo, you will want to wear on top of your topper, where it looks like a very fetching life preserver.

I love it. I wore it today with oversized joggers and a favorite vintage blazer. Also shown, a quick trial with a graphic print and a frog purse. I think I might prefer both of these with the green joggers.

Mr Edge is doubtful. I said nothing about the slippers. Comments and styling ideas are welcome.
