A single-colour tulip bouquet is one of my favourites as well.  Joy -- any of the Darwin hybrid tulips should do fine in zone 3 and hold their blooms for a long time. Check out the varieties Daydream, Orange Sun, and Triple A for different shades of orange. For late spring, double tulips tend to bloom a little later than singles.
