My favorites are the coral cardigan (especially the color; I don't think it makes you look wide but I see what you mean) and the cascading cardigan. There are many styles of cascading cardigans (different lengths, some with more structure than others), so perhaps a less voluminous, more structured version would work for you. I can't see because of the flash, but Safari dresses often come in beige, and that's a hard colour for a lot of people.
