I happened to know that the jeans she had on were NYDJs, so I said something about how they were fitting well, but she didn't know the brand name or maybe what it stood for, so she thought that I was saying that they didn't look like her daughter's jeans, lower case, and it took me a while to verbally extricate myself. Not that she was horribly offended, just confused, but it was less than ideal. Should have kept my mouth shut....</p> <p>They don't work for me mainly because the inseams are never long enough but I also dislike the feel of the higher rise mixed with the very stretchy fabric. Maybe this is too rachylou to say but somehow even though they're comfortable physically they're uncomfortable mentally, like I don't want to be that kind of person? What I don't like is that the inseam for bootcuts is too short. I'm okay with the 29-inch inseam for everything else, though. As for fit, it's fairly consistent, but I do find that some styles fit differently than others. I've always been put off just by the name. Implying that I have a daughter old enough to wear the same jeans as me, and that I'd better watch out for being MDAL. Meh. But I tried a pair once, almost before realizing what brand they were (I liked the color). The fit is totally wrong for me, even though one would think they'd be perfect for a middle-aged, hourglassy woman with hips and thighs that don't easily squeeze into a lot of brands. Nope. The rise is too high, and there is a weird excess of fabric around the crotch and even in the front upper thigh on me. Oh, and they were too short too, but that's a long-legged problem.
