I've never tried their pants but I have two of their straight jeans-style skirts that I love. One is black and the other a bright yellow. They are 21 or 22 inches, making them long enough for me. So many skirts are 19 inches, a wee bit short for me. i bought both online and would buy more in this style.

OP
if the price is an issue you can find them at Nordstrom rack by the loads at great prices. They do hold up well though,

@BettyCrocker
I have an issue with the petite fit too, if the rise fits me the length is too short, if the pants fit correctly I know they will stretch out and I need to go down a size, but I am at the smallest.
They need to work on their smallest end of the size range a bit. I think that when they started the line small sizes were not the demographic they were thinking of
I really wanted the fake leather pants they had out this fall but they just didn't work.

I had an awkward conversation in Nordstrom once - I might have shared this story here before - where a lady who was trying on some things came out to ask the sales lady's opinion. I happened to know that the jeans she had on were NYDJs, so I said something about how they were fitting well, but she didn't know the brand name or maybe what it stood for, so she thought that I was saying that they didn't look like her daughter's jeans, lower case, and it took me a while to verbally extricate myself. Not that she was horribly offended, just confused, but it was less than ideal. Should have kept my mouth shut....

They don't work for me mainly because the inseams are never long enough but I also dislike the feel of the higher rise mixed with the very stretchy fabric. Maybe this is too rachylou to say but somehow even though they're comfortable physically they're uncomfortable mentally, like I don't want to be that kind of person? Not that I'm judging anyone else who likes them - who can tell once you have jeans on what brand they are anyway - they're just not for me at this point in my life.

I think almost all my pants are by NYDJ now! They fit my curvy body very well in the petite size. The regular size rise is massive on me though.
I have the ponte pants, some regular jeans, and a couple pairs of more interesting ones.. One a waxed black jean with a harlequin pattern and one subtle blue snakeskin pattern.

Sterling - I know what you mean. The name really grates on my nerves - and the only reason that I ever tried them on is because I didn't realize that the brand was NYDJ. To be honest, if I had known that, I wouldn't have tried them on. I'm not sure what it is all about - but yes, I definitely find their ads, as well as their name off-putting.

I love them, but I would say that for your first pair, you need to try them on in the store. I wouldn't order online because you may need to try a bunch of sizes. Once you know how they fit you, then you can buy online. Sometimes they are on MyHabit & HauteLook, but I wouldn't buy there until you are sure of your size. Like others have said, they do seem to have a high rise. In general, I think they run large, too.

I'm a petite who needs a longer rise, so NYDJs work well for me. What I don't like is that the inseam for bootcuts is too short. I'm okay with the 29-inch inseam for everything else, though. As for fit, it's fairly consistent, but I do find that some styles fit differently than others. I'm most comfortable in the faux suede pants I have on today; they fit well and are so soft--great for my achy body.

Sterling, I kinda understand. I've always been put off just by the name. Implying that I have a daughter old enough to wear the same jeans as me, and that I'd better watch out for being MDAL. Meh. But I tried a pair once, almost before realizing what brand they were (I liked the color). The fit is totally wrong for me, even though one would think they'd be perfect for a middle-aged, hourglassy woman with hips and thighs that don't easily squeeze into a lot of brands. Nope. The rise is too high, and there is a weird excess of fabric around the crotch and even in the front upper thigh on me. Oh, and they were too short too, but that's a long-legged problem. I think my short rise and lack of booty made these a total no-go.

This has been an interesting post. It is good to know that they have a high rise. That won't work for me.

Besides the high rise though, I never tried these because the advertisements have been off putting for me. I'm not sure why. Has anyone else felt that their advertising is off putting? Can you put your finger on why (because I can't exactly say why I find their ads bad)?

I have a pair of straight legs that I bought for the color, too...a berry red. I like a higher rise, and these are almost too high for me. But, the quality is fantastic. They are a smudge too long and even a high heat dryer will not shrink them. Definitely size down.

Like Joy, I bought mine for the color. I would say I sized down at least two sizes, almost three. In the store they were way too tight but my wonderful SA Rae assured me they would stretch and they did. I think this was the last item Rae picked out for me at Nordy before she started her new life! Mine are slim straights in a very deep port color and they are workhorses.

I have two pair and sized down a size because mine do stretch some during the day. I have a rectangle shape and find that they fit and the higher rise controls muffin top. Neither of mine is a favorite, but I would try them again. Both were bought for the color (red straight and grey skinnies). They have worn well, in fact seem better as they age.

I love them since they almost feel like yoga pants. They are high rise which oddly enough works for this rectangle. You will probably need to size down depending on the material. I have one pair that is rayon, nylon, spandex and they stretch out almost a full size. My other pair ( a size larger than the other pair) is mostly cotton and not quite as stretchy.

You can probably find them on sale...otherwise they are pricy.

I'm a size 18 and wear a 16 in NYDJ. I find their fit is excellent on my pear shape and the higher rise flatters my figure more so than low rise (takes a bit of getting used to visually-- but now the higher rise is the look I prefer). The Barbara bootcuts in black denim are my evening go-to look with heels. I also love their Audrey ankle jeans for weekend wear.

I've had three pair over the past , say, 3 years. I agree with deb in that the rise is indeed high, but I happen to find that works well for my body and how I like jeans (skinnies only from this company - the other styles aren't of interest) to fit. They are a little generous in their fit, and/or because there is a good percentage of lycra in the denim blend, sizing down if in doubt usually works. You can usually pick them up on sale at different times of the year - mine have all been happy sale price accidents .
