Hi again Sterling, if it feels silky, I'm thinking it might be a blend with rayon, polyester, or nylon.

Thinking over my spandex-blend tees, I don't think silky is one of their qualities. The spandex in my tees seems to impart a quality of sturdiness and a slight texture (along with extra stretchiness that springs back instead of making the garment baggy after stretching).

Maybe your best bet is to do some research in a store like Kohl's, etc. that carry a lot of T-shirt knits that are all the way from casual to dressy, and just feel the fabrics and look at the fiber content on the labels. You'll start to connect the different fiber contents with specific qualities (drapey-ness, silkiness, sturdiness, stretchiness, etc.)

I'll be watching your T-shirt adventures with great interest! :)

My favorite tee shirt is blend. I think it is a blend of cotton and spandex. It feels very silky and does look dressier than anything else I own. I bought one and have never found anything similar to it. Do you have any suggestions, Jeweled or OldChic?

I just got my second order of Tees from Marine Layer. The lighter ones are a bit sheer for my taste but I love, love, love my dark ones (blue, green, maroon)- very soft, nice drape, machine wash and dry. Pam

I love the feel of rayon knit - only downside is that it does seem to pill more quickly than cotton or a cotton/poly blend. Speaking of blends, I've been surprised at how much I like a little poly - not too much - in my drapier tops. It means they won't wrinkle, they machine wash, and they're thinner than 100% cotton.

I like the look of these, but have no personal experience with any of them (Massimo Dutti is generally good quality thought).

I second what Jeweled says about the cotton-spandex blends. They are fantastic with jackets and business outfits. Look professional and are a lot more comfortable than many shirts and blouses.

Unfortunately, slim spandex tees are less forgiving than more airily-cut all cotton. So now that I have a little extra around my middle, I am having to change my approach. For the much more casual lifestyle I have now, I am currently loving these very inexpensive, asymmetric, organic-cotton tees from zara so much that I bought in multiple colors. Haven't worn or washed yet (too cold here), so will have to see whether they hold up in use.

Hi Sterling, I love cotton-spandex blend tees. They hold their shape well, dry quickly after washing, and are extra comfy because of the spandex stretchiness.

For years I didn't wear tee shirts. I hated the feel of the cheap cotton or cotton blend against my skin. I also hated the way they hung shapelessly on my body. I never felt less fabulous than when I was wearing a tee shirt.

This summer is completely differently. I am loving the fabrications like linen and pima cotton. I love the new shapes and the drape.

So now that I know I do like wearing the RIGHT tee shirt, I am going to try to find a tiny capsule of tee shirts that I can wear as part of my work capsule. So far, I own a white one from Everlane. Love it. I have one from Madewell on the way. I hope I love it as much as AlaskaGirl does hers.

If anyone has any other suggestions, I am excited to try them.
