I am both a visual and a verbal person and having a catch phrase sometimes really resonates with me, particularly when I'm trying to curb a not-so-great habit. I seem to wear my&nbsp; "sale goggles" constantly,&nbsp;and am drawn toward bargains before all other considerations. It's a life long habit that has kept my spending under good control, but&nbsp;I need to stop doing this and let myself open up other possibilities. (I'm a big fan of Lucky jewelry--they come up with some very cool, arty-looking pieces at bargain prices, don't they? Especially when you get them on sale.)</p> <p>My other favorites here are mint v-neck sweater (a fun take on the tennis sweater neckline!) and the first top, with the draping. The Equipment sweater is cute, and I know it will be cozy and easy to wear in cold weather--I like the simplicity of throwing on a cashmere sweater that doesn't need any other pieces, under or over (other than a camisole, maybe), to make it work. </p> <p>The lace-up top is good, but not especially noteworthy in my book. If you're going for tops with a little bit of interest, to me, this one is a bit too subtle. I think it's because the bit of interest is at the side and most apparent from a side view rather than from the front. Quite a few of them have been in my closet for a few years and have been useful, but a little refreshing seemed to be in order.</p> <p>I did a little shopping the other day, and found some contenders. One of them I liked so much that I cut the tags and wore it last night out to casual dinner with friends. </p> <p>Here's the rundown of new purchases:</p> <p>1-2 Fifteen Twenty black wrap top -- soft, comfy, not too voluminous and just drapey enough yet with a nice shape. Needs a tank underneath but that's no problem. Strong contender to keep. </p> <p>3 Elliot Lauren cold shoulder asymmetric top. I already wore it! I love that it works well under a jacket but has more personality when I take the jacket off! Keeping.</p> <p>4-6 Red Haute ribbed knit top with laced side detail. I loved this in the store, but I'm not as sure looking at the pics. The laced sides start at a point that may be emphasizing how short my torso is and how wide my hips are. Or maybe I just need to try it on again and pull it down more -- I was in a rush taking these pics. </p> <p>7 Neiman Marcus cashmere V neck sweater (on crazy good sale). Ultra lightweight silk cashmere blend. Needs a layer underneath because it is sheer, but I love the colors (mint with white, teal and navy) and neckline, and the fit is nice. Inclined to keep. </p> <p>8 Equipment star print cashmere sweater (another good bargain). I think this looks better IRL than in the photo but I welcome feedback. The print is fun but the grey/black color scheme keeps it from skewing too cutesy for me. Not itchy at all and the fit is good for wearing alone or layering. </p> <p>9-12 WIW last night. BR cropped jeans, new cold shoulder top, Nine West forest green boots, Lucky necklace. Dark teal clutch from NAS maybe three years ago. Added the Atelier faux leather/faux fur lined jacket since the evening turned cool.</p> <p>Feedback welcome! (Ugh, just realized I took all the try-on pics before I put on makeup or touched up my roots -- please ignore face and hair in those! Thank god I have a hair appt on Tuesday!) </p>
