The only wild cards have been a pair of statement earrings and the Angie-twin pink chore jacket. But I have been planning this for at least a year so it feels like a safe venture into new style territory, if that makes sense. </p> <p>My most unplanned purchase was a gold Versace jacket ($120 on YOOX - occasionally these “last available item” bargains pop up). Most purchases have been of essentials or basics, and even though they are updated to match current trends, they are classic enough to last many years. A great example are the three new blazers I posted. I have also purchased a couple of classic and simply designed dresses, some basic tees and one pair of lower heeled strappy sandals in metallic navy. </p> <p>There is a potential wildcard item on the horizon. There is a dress I have on pre-order from Rachel Comey that has fringe on the bottom, but its otherwise a very classic and simple design......plus it's matte metallic silver! So, if it works, it would be my wildcard for 2019. Yesterday in Santa Fe, I did a little shopping, and ended up with a yellow — yes, yellow — tee. It’s the only shade of yellow I’ve ever liked on me, a soft buttery yellow that’s not too pale but also not too saturated. I think it works on me in summer when I have a little more color in my skin. I also bought the same tee in a pale mint green, which is solidly in my wheelhouse. They are basic, loose-fitting, super casual V-neck tees that are perfect for my summer wardrobe. I also found a great pair of grey knee-length shorts, a terrific white wrap knit top, a cobalt blue V-neck sweater, and a gorgeously light and soft silk/cashmere scarf in all my favorite shades of blue and turquoise.
