I love micellar water for both makeup remover and cleansing, lots of brands at Shoppers but I went with L’Oreal (still mourning the BB cream they discontinued!). That Revlon lipstick in Pink Truffle is my favorite too. I use the Maybelline Full and Soft Mascara and find that the drugstore brands are just as good as the more expensive ones.</p> <p>If you can find an Anastasia counter let them do your brows. I use the Anastasia Wiz Brow in taupe. Several years ago I decided to try it again--this was after ten years of not wearing it. Even when I wore that little bit in college, I didn't know what I was doing. It was even harder trying to figure out stuff in my late thirties, because there are so many different types of products out now. If you bought so much product, they would give you a free makeup lesson. When you don't own any makeup, it doesn't take long to reach the minimum! Firstly, I chose products reported to work on sensitive dry skin and that weren't supposed to have scent or taste - (there was no irritation), secondly I felt pretty and even a tad glamourous!</p> <p>Chiara, binkie - I admitted to the SA who helped me with the lippy that I was a little 'chicken' when she steered me towards the full on lippy, and my products are classified as 'sheer'. I'm going to experiment with more layers and work up to 'real' lippy. (Pic below - top 3 new, bottom 3 'old'. The Rimmel is a liner, the Clinique a Chubby Stick, and then CG is a gloss in a tube.)</p> <p>Angie :-D, and Kate, Suz - I LOVE my new specs! </p> <p>efbgen - DH joins me in retirement next week! He's a project too! LOL!</p> <p>Kkards, Stylefan - YES to YouTube tutorials. I quite like 'Hot and Flashy' which features a 50ish woman (named Angie!!) I was pretty conservative with the BB cream and am going to experiment with using a little more. </p> <p>Aquamarine - I went with the L'Oreal BB cream based on the reviews, but I went with the lightest ('Fair') because of what folks said about the other colours. The SA who was helping me suggested one tint up, but I told her about the reviews (too dark, turns orange) and went with my choice. It comes out of the tube white but turns a yellow based beige on my skin. </p> <p>Zibbets - I completely forgot about makeup remover! Used Cereve moisturizer and it all came off. FWIW, the eyeliner twists up and has a nice soft consistency that lends itself to smudging. I used my baby finger and made little smudge strokes at a downward angle to work it into my lash line. (I don't tight line.)</p> <p>Over the next week I plan to experiment with using more BB cream for better coverage, and more layers of lippy, possibly mixing colours.
