Echo, hi -- I meant to offer a response here. I also like the way tapered pants look on my shape. They're a bit of a harder find now -- I'm still wearing my slim BF jeans because of this very issue. Taper= greater flattery for me. Angie noticed it too during our try-on session in Seattle, so I'm not imagining this. I can absolutely wear other shapes (wide legs, bootlegs, etc.) but a slight taper looks much better than a stovepipe straight on me. And a tapered crop looks and feels best of all. I think of them as Laura Petrie pants. :) You can look for "cigarette" style pants -- that's sometimes a slight taper. But waists are going to be higher than you may be used to. The eye may need time to adjust.

On that note -- if you don't mind pricey or are willing to go to the Rack or maybe the gently used items at Eileen Fisher, she is doing a tapered pant. You might need to size down in EF quite far -- hard to say. I haven't tried her pants but the quality is good.

At my size, there is no possible way I should be wearing an XS. I am about a 6 in dresses right now, and there are many people who are truly small boned and petite. If I am an XS, that means many other people are simply sized out of clothes because they run too big. Regardless, I ordered the jacket in an XS to check, and it has not yet arrived. But size inflation is definitely real. I wore a size 6 thirty years and twenty pounds ago, so how can I still wear that size now? Sizing numbers truly mean nothing anymore.

Yes. Size inflation is real. After I lost weight, I was several sizes smaller than my previous smallest size -- but the number on the scale wasn't a lot different that my previous lowest weight. The distribution was a bit different because I had been working out, and that accounted for some of the shift. But definitely not all.

Many smaller people are sized out in certain brands. Angie has spoken about this. It's an issue, for sure. Not the same issue as that faced by those at the larger end of the spectrum, but once you have adjusted to your new size/ weight, you will likely find that brands you previously relied on don't work as well for you. You'll have to seek out different fit models. I'm sized out all over the place, or nearly so. Angie, who is taller, is also more slender and sized out in even more places.

Yikes, I should have read the reviews of WHBM here before proceeding. The pants are TTS, but high waisted in a way I am no longer used to (ala 1980s). I am not sure whether I will keep them or not. Additionally, the elastic is not at the top of the waist; there is a slight paper bag effect. I also ordered a very LOUD jacket, which I adore, but I ordered it in a small, and it may be too large.

Are you looking for knit, patterned pants? Anthro might be a possibility: They have lots of print pants that taper, in a variety of soft knits.

I'm gonna say Uniqlo for tapered pants in all kinds of fabrications. Though the silhouettes are veering towards straight these days, see finds. Most of them are ankle length but you can get 'tall' sizes (= full length on me) online.

Echo just for ideas ( since it may not be worthwhile shipping), a NZ/Australian site, which both Anne from Western Australia and myself from NZ have clothes from, called Ezibuy, has some nice tapered pants in their catalogues this year. You could search on the site for some images. If I can I will get a screenshot for you.
I was browsing and really liking them, I think they remind me of some from 1985?!

You probably want better quality - but I like this kind of pant too, and frankly all such pants like this that I have come from the teeny stores - H&M and the like. I do have one nicer pair from a local boutique, but not as comfortable since all the lines run small!

I have a pair from boden last year that are lightweight and comfortable, though cotton so not exactly what you want. They were called daisy chinos- maybe they will sell a similar style again.

I also ordered these other two this year and can report back if you're interested. One is tapered and cotton utility-ish, the other is more straight and hopefully not too wide, and poly.

I am on the hunt for full length summer pants! Will be following this thread.

I love summer dresses, but when I wear pants, I prefer soft, lightweight, tapered pants instead of wide. My inseam tends to be too short, and wide pants feel less comfortable than swishy skirts.

The problem is that tapered pants are harder to find and none of mine fit. I ordered the WHBM pants (they haven't arrived yet), but am having trouble finding others to try. I actually prefer rayon/polyester, but am open to linen or cotton, too. I've ordered a pair of lantern pants like the jeans recently popular on the forum, but will probably not be seeking more. Joggers might work if they aren't tight at the ankle, but skew a little too casual.

Any suggestions?
[ETA: I can't figure out how to attach the WHBM pants from my phone, but they're the Floral Print Soft Knit Ankle Pants].
