Thank you very much Naf & Becs!

Becs, good luck with your grad school. Here are the answers to your questions:

1. I do not carry books to school anymore, I haven't been for the past couple of years, although I did in the first 3 or so years of grad school. I am long done with classes and have past my doctoral qualification exams, so for the last 3 years it has pretty much been research/lab work for me all the time. Anyway, even then I carried them in my tote, I personally seriously dislike backpacks. I like my totes big, so that I can stuff a lot of things in there: a bottle of water, books if needed, basic necessities, dance shoes, gym clothes etc. My current philosophy on the bag is big, cute and inexpensive, since they go through a lot of abuse, get thrown on dirty floors and so on. I find them usually at discount places such as Filene's basement, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or chain stores like Express and ATL. I do plan to start getting nice ones once I graduate and get a real job though.

2. I do a lot of online shopping, I guess I buy around 70% of my stuff online. I am typically at the lab at least 12 hours everyday other then Saturday, and a lot of my experiments have waiting periods ranging anywhere between half an hour to couple of hours. In the first half of the day I try to read scientific literature and such during those waiting periods, but then in the second half my brain is usually fried so I browse all of sorts of clothing sites. I look for interesting new arrivals, or stuff that go on sale, or whatever. I go to real stores once or rarely twice a month ( usually on Saturday) and either look for specific things I already saw online to try on, or try to go to stores such as H&M that do not show things online. I try on tons of things, so I can buy them later online when they go on sale or I have a coupon, and also to get a feel of my size in particular brand or whether it generally fits me or not. I usually ship stuff to my lab, so I try it on immediately in the ladies room and if it doesn't work it gets shipped immediately back without me actually having to drag it home, although I do that sometimes if I am not sure to take photos and get opinions from YLF members.

Phew, I was starting to write my own " War and Piece" I hope this gives you some ideas, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have more questions.

Tanya,

I love all the looks this week and these are exactly the type of outfits I am trying to put together for grad school every day. I just started school on Monday and am starting to wear some of my new outfits that I purchased this summer (with YLF inspiration and your tips!).

I do have 2 questions for you though...

1. Do you use your totes for school/ carrying books and where do you get them? They are so cute! (you are still in grad school right?) I ask because I want to stop carrying a back pack and start carrying something cuter for school.

2. You have all these amazing outfits, but when do you find the time to shop when you are busy with school? I often find it hard to fit in shopping time because of homework and lots of studying. Any tips on that one?

Thanks and again great looks this week!!!

Tanya, your pics are always inspiring to me. You have a great eye for color and texture, do you paint by any chance?

All the outfits are amazing and have surprisingly delightful elements. My favorite is the green military dress outfit, something I would totally wear and might just have to copy. I also have the teal BR top and I would never imagine cream with it, but it looks beautiful on you

This makes total sense, Tanya. I'm also becoming a big fan of yellow accessories. Both useful and cheerful!

I'm also on the lookout for a grey bag. I think it may even quench my attraction to teal because I find both of these colors very calming and nice to look at.

Thank you very much Nicole and Lenna! I am still blushing.

Lenna, funny that you ask about the blue bag. I currently do not have any, but I do have a teal one on my shopping list for the fall ( as well as purple one). Now I probably would not wear it with more than one other blue/teal item - max 2 of items in the same color per outfit as Angie says. I am planning to have majority of my colors for fall be in teals/purples/greys ( of course with some cream, black and so on). I would wear a teal bag with the outfit that had purple and grey and vice versa. I also find yellow to be a nice unexpected accent color for both of these, so I'd wear my yellow bag with an outfit that has both teal and purple in it. For example, I have a purple velvet blazer that I plan to wear over this BR teal top later in the fall, with dark jeans and grey shoes, and I will be wearing my yellow patent tote with that. I hope this makes some sense to you. Of course, I could be completely color blind in which case you should completely ignore everything I have just written here

It's so hard to pick a favorite, I like them all! I especially like the colors in Saturday (floral blouse). I'm also living vicariously through your shirt dress outfits (Monday and Sunday) You look terrific!

Tanya, I noticed we wear similar color palettes. Do you own any blue/teal/green bags? And if you do, do you find them useful? There's a teal/turquoise bag I'm attracted to, and I'm wondering whether it would compete and clash with all the blues and greens I have in my wardrobe. For now I'm sticking with white and yellow and red.

Angie, your words are making me blush. Thank you so much!

Sihaya, I am really getting into necklaces. I have quite a fe on my fall shopping lists.

Shiny, feel free to steal any ides you want, I have certainly stolen a few from you in the past. Yes, I feel exactly as you are describing. With this weather I find myself gravitating towards fall colors/transition items. I am still trying to get more wear out of my summery stuff, but the weather is not cooperating. I wish we had few more weeks of warmer summer weather.

P.s.... my gut reaction when I first looked at your week-in-review was: "This is exactly how you stylishly move into fall...even when it's still technically summer out." Angie recently blogged about this.

Pretty pretty pretty... and I am in agreement over the floral ruffle blouse. Awesome! I imagine it will work into the fall.

The teal BR blouse! I may have to steal your ideas... and I really love the purple cardi - gorgeous color. Love the long necklace too! (Can't remember which outfit that was - I got sidetracked right as I started this response and had to write out a grocery list and reboot laundry).

Are you finding you're moving more and more into fall colors even though it's finally sunny here? Me too - I want to wear a few summer items I haven't had enough use out of, yet it's starting to feel more and more like fall here, isn't it?

Thanks Maya! I am glad that the photos are clearer.

The black Express skinnies are two years old, so they have no model name that I know of. AT pearls- the length can be regulated, and I actually did wear them shorter - choker length. I took them off when I got home and them put them back on later for the photo, and just clasped them randomly

Another successful week for you Tanya. Everything looks great, but Saturday was my favorite. I love the top, and the pictures are a lot clearer.

I love the black Express skinnies. Are they the Mia skinnies or another fit? I was thinking of getting those to tuck into boots.

Have you tried wearing the AT pearls a little bit shorter? Like choker length? I like them best that way.
