Oh San that so sweet of you. Thank you so much for the complimets. Please do not be intimidated to post your opinion, I value each and every one.
I was thinking along the similar ones about having already paid for something that iIlike, so as long as it's not really bad I'll wear it. So I'm only getting rid of stuff that is significantly worse than the rest.

Thanks for the reasurence Ana! I feel better now:)

Well I've been thinking about this for a couple of days also and I am intimidated to put my 2 cents in because I am older than you all, which does affect my style judgements. Also I don't have a naturally good eye for style and am just a student here, but, the only pair that I didn't like were the light colored ones with the pockets showing through and only for that reason.
I think you have a fabulous figure and could make a million $ being a jeans model. You look exceptionally good in all styles to me. You already have them so they are already purchased, just wear them and love them and be glad you can afford them, and that you have a perfect jeans body.

I don't mind at all! I think your plan is solid, and I'm glad you're getting rid of the Gap jeans. I think with your body type one really great pair of trouser denim is enough, because skinnies and bootcut really suit you. It sounds like you've thought it through, and I know it's hard to get rid of stuff, and you have so much, editing really will be a more a journey than a destination. Nice work.

Ana, I am so flattered that you've spent so much time thinking about this . *blushing*

I mentioned this on the other thread ( closet one) but this is what I have figured out so far:

The last two pairs are definitely going.

Trouser jeans: the plan is to substitute the three dark pairs: both Express ones ( bootcut and wide) and the Gap ones in the fall with just one fab pair. I think actually I can actually get rid of the Gap ones immediately in my next consigment shop trip. The are very new ( just a couple of months old) and probably a size to big. I bought them in strange weight moment in my life. For the past 15 years my weight was super constant: 110 +/- 1. Then few months ago I noticed that a lot of my pants were fitting tighter, weighed myself and I was 116 ( there were some health issue I don't want to get into). That's when those pants were bought. I seem to have stabilized again at 112, so they are too big. Sorry for the digression, they are definitely going - reminding me of a bad period.

The three other pairs - grey Yanuk, beige and Paige light trouser need hemming and hence have never been worn so far. I have a big tailoring trip planned this week, but since I'm testing out a new tailor I'll bring just a few items this week, and if it turns out fine I'll bring the rest later. But I really like these - I think I enjoy the variety of washes, and I couldn't really handle to store them before thay have even been worn. I have actually tryed quite a few times this spring to wear each of them unhemmed with my highest shoes but had to give up since I was stepping on them

I also plan to keep a kind of 'jeans diary" and keep track of how often I wear each pair I own.

I feel bad for not following your suggestion of storing Ana, but I don't have the hearth to do that. I am really looking forward to finally beiing able to wear them. I hope you don't mind.

So, I've been thinking about this for a few days, and I've read the responses from everyone. I mainly agree with what everyone else has said.

I like both the skinnies (I actually have the same exact black pair and am wearing them today!).

All your jeans in heavy rotation, I like. Not all the washes are my thing (I like dark wash) but they all fit you nicely.

The Trouser jeans: This is where you could make some major cuts. A more refined trouser style looks good on you (something closer to a bootcut). The Express trouser jeans in blue and black look okay. I don't like the Paige light wash ones and the gap straight leg look kind of unflattering in my opinion--they look baggy at the top and tight at the bottom--almost like they taper, and make you look very "hippy." My least favorite are the Express wide leg jeans. I really don't like these on you at all. I think this is a hard style for anybody to pull off and they just make you seem bottom heavy, when we all know you're not at all. :)

The Paige cream denim are really nice! These are among my favorite on you. Same with the Paper Denim and Cloth. I don't like the grey yanuk jeans or the beige jeans. I think most things you could wear the beige with would probably look better with your cream Paige jeans.

So, I was trying to come up with a plan for you to test whether you really do need all these jeans, and I liked Nicole's suggestion in another thread of putting some of them away. I think we get stuck sometimes thinking, "This top goes with this pair of jeans," and so we never mix it up and then we think we can't live without these jeans because this one top goes with them and nothing else. Does this make sense?

I'd put away the jeans that got the most "no" votes on here. You can store them in a box under your bed or whatever. Make sure they're out of sight. You will have to store them through the fall (when you will get more wear out of your denim). Pretend like they don't exist, you don't own them anymore. Then see what outfits you can make with the really great jeans you have left. It will sort of force you to work with what you've got and you might end up pairing something you never thought of pairing before and it may look even better. If, next Spring, you find yourself really pining for 1 or 2 pairs you have stored, then pull those out, put them back in rotation, and give the rest away. I think doing this will help you break your attachment to some of them (I get really attached to clothes and don't want to get rid of them because I might wear them with this one thing someday).

What do you think?

That must have been a lot of work, going through all your jeans and taking all those pictures Tanya.
I'm in agreement with what has been said already and think the Express wide-legged trouser (9) are the least flattering. Don't get me wrong, I love trouser jeans and these might look ok on somebody else, but you are so slim that I find them a bit overpowering on you.

And who knows what the next season will bring indeed, keep us posted on your search!

(I recently bought a Ralph Lauren trouser jean (they're actually 100% cotton), not the cheapest pair around, but I love them, they fit me very well, are slimming, dark wash and I'm even considering duplicating them. I can't seem to find them online unfortunately, the label says: BD # BT3506/Hello Sailor Pant/Made in Turkey/Made for Polo Ralph Lauren if that's any help. Maybe I should post a picture sometime)

Absolutely Tanya. We need to remember that you'll wear certain tops with some of these jeans that make them work perfectly. I’d like to think that I took that into consideration. Otherwise you can fire me on the spot!

Autumn and Winter are your dominant seasons in New England so you're right to have a whole slew of jeans to wear virtually all year round. Wait for Autumn. Who knows which look you’ll want to sport then. You might be skinny and straight leg mad instead of wide-leg mad? We might convince you of a certain extra fab look that requires a certain type of denim? It’s a mystery wrapped in an enigma. This is why I LOVE what each new fashion season brings. Always new possibilities and a time to refresh our wardrobes in the right way.

Thanks again Angie and Maya.

Maya, those are Seven for all mankind ( I'm just too lazy to wright the whole thing) in their New York dark wash, basically these:
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/.....=EverGreen

And I hear you about the hip pockets. I generally agree with you, but these are usually covered with tops. They also serve me well for a couple of tops that have a off-the-shoulder neckline and make my shoulders look super wide, I feel
that pockets balance them out.

It is really interesting to me that 3 of the not-so-nice 6 pairs are my dark trouser jeans . Now I really love trouser jeans and wear them often, but looks like I haven't been choosing the best ones. Hmm, maybe because that's the only type of jeans where I bought lesser quality . My 3-month shopping ban exercise starts tomorrow, so I can't do it now, but I'm getting really tempted for the fall season to look for one fabulous pair of trouser jeans ( like Shannon's Joe's).
If I do find them then I'd be willing to get rid of all these three pairs

like:

both skinnies
both joe's
level 99 jeans
cream paige bootcuts
citizens
paper denim
express black trousers

don't like:

white flares. i don't like those pockets on the hips.
gray yanuk flares for the same reason
express wide legs. i wholeheartedly agree with angie. these are my least favorite
paige light wash. this is just a personal preference. i don't like the fading and light washes in general.
gap and levis, but maybe keep one pair for moving/painting other odds and ends
gap trousers

don't feel strongly about:

both 7's. i'm not a fan of all that whiskering at the hips/thighs. is this "seven" or 7 for all mankind?
habitual bootcuts. they fit well but again, i prefer a uniform wash
express trouser cut.
tan bootcuts

While I was writing the reply to Nicole Angie's came out.

Sorry about the white flares link. Here it is:
http://s300.photobucket.com/al.....CN2955.jpg
and they are also here in my daily outfits post from before:
http://s300.photobucket.com/al.....CN2916.jpg

Thank you very much Angie for going trough all of them. You are so incredibly nice to do so.

I can certainly bear to part with last two. I'll think on the Gap trousers, Express wide-legged and grey Yanuk. I actually really like the last two. But I'll try to keep a little diary on how often I wear them in the next couple of months and if it turns out to be very little, I'll get rid of them too. I couldn't get which was the 6th pair that does not pass the mark.

I am so sorry that happened to you Nicole. It happens sometimes to me as well. Sometimes clicking the 'back' buttons helps but sometimes it doesn't. Thank you for going through all that trouble tough, I truly appreciate it.

You are right about the 7's , they are actually identical (just the back pocket stitching is different, one is white and the other one is pink, that's how I differentiate between them). I have listened to Angie's advice to duplicate an item that really works for me. The denim is incredibly soft and they are my most comfortable pants for long work hours. So I got two pairs and hemmed them one for flats and one for heels.

I also agree about the pocket show trough on the cream Paige's, but I'm going to have them removed and sewn shut. The jeans are perfect to me in every other way and it was incredibly difficult to find a pair of jeans in cream!

The Express wide-legged ones fit well in the waist&hip area, but the general style tends to look big because of the width of the legs. I like them tough ( I'm a fan of wide-legged style) and wear them quite often.

The grey Yanuk pair is a novelty item for me. I actually got attracted to them because of the pockets and color! And they have lemon Yellow stitching which i really like so I wend to wear them paired them with yellow tops. I like yellow&grey together.

I'm glad you like those last three pairs. I'm a fan too:) They are getting hemmed next week!

Thank you once again for being so kind to look trough of them!

8.	Express trouser cut – okay. You have better.
18.	Paper, denim and cloth – killer!
19.	Joes Muse– killer!
20.	Gap errands – say goodbye
21.	Levis – say goodbye

Tanya, you look super duper in everything. I am striving for perfection and simplicity which is why there are 6 styles that don’t quite make the YLF mark. Feel free to keep your jeans if you want to. But we’ll put a 3 year ban on your denim addiction!!!

I think I'm going to cry! I went thru every single pair of jeans, rated them, hit send, and then I was logged off and my post never showed up!

Tanya, that's a lot of jeans! Some of them are very similar. Looking at your photo album as a whole, instead of individual photos makes it easier to compare similarities. You have two 7's bootcuts that are very similar and both have contrasting horizontal fading at the hips. The Express Wide Legs look a bit too big. I'm not liking the color or pockets of Yanuk grey. Paige cream bootcut have a lot of pocket show thru--and you have a few other white/cream jeans taht look better. I really like the Citizen Hutton, Paper and Joes Muse (the last three before your 2 bum around jeans.)

It's difficult to find fault with your clothes because you buy such good quality clothing, and have a great figure! But 21 pair of jeans would drive me crazy.

Wow! That's a lot of jeans! If you are the type of person who performs reconstructive surgery on her clothes, there's a lot of possibilities. ;)

I've done that quite a few times. I've made entirely new outfits by getting creative with scissors, needles, some thread and whatever else strikes my fancy.

I have been avoiding doing this for a while, but since I promised I'll do it, here are the photos of all of my jeans and I know that Angie wants me to get rid of some. It turned out I have miscounted and there are actually 21, not 19. The ones that need hemming I'm wearing with my 4" heels, but they are still too long. I am actually going to prewash them tomorrow and take them to tailor next week, I managed to find one that charges $20, not 30 like my previous tailor for hemming with the original hem.
I have tried to divide them in the logical groups.

Group I - Skinnies. These get medium wear, but will get more this summer with all the tunics/shirtdresses. There is also a white J Brand on the way.
1. Express denim skinnies
http://s300.photobucket.com/al.....CN2752.jpg
2. Express black skinnies
http://s300.photobucket.com/al.....CN2754.jpg

Group II - jeans in heavy rotation ( you've seen them all multiple times in my outfit posts). Most are bootcuts. other than the last pair
3. Habitual bootcut hemmed for flats
http://s300.photobucket.com/al.....CN2942.jpg
4. 7's bootcut for flats, these fit better than on the pphoto, they've streched out and are due for washing. ( the fit is more like in the next pair)
http://s300.photobucket.com/al.....2283048700
6. Joe's Honey
http://s300.photobucket.com/al.....CN2946.jpg
8. Express trouser bootcut
19. Joe's Muse which I intend to hem for my mini-wedges (1.5") since I have sadly learned that neither or of my jeans hemmed for flats or high heels looks right with that heel height
http://s300.photobucket.com/al.....CN2963.jpg

OK, let the gunfire begin! I shall cry if you guys make me get rid of any other than last two, since I love them all and think that there are no duplicates, and that they all have their purpose. And remember that as grad student working in the lab, jeans are what i wear almost all the time.

Thanks!
