I think with some outfits - especially light spring/summer ones a smaller cross-body looks better to my eye, unless you are literally carrying a tote to the beach ;). Like Cocolion I like the in-between size ones, not teeny, but smaller and lighter than a regular cross-body. I am testing out a silver one in the shape and size of her pale blue one and so far liking it a lot. I'm 5'7" 143 or so.

No, I don't think they'll look too small or young. I like the look of them a lot.

I used to use a lot of smallish cross body bags before YLF. But over the years I've found that for me, a larger (med size satchel) bag with handles and a long strap option is the best proportion for my own visual and physical comfort. I didn't like the look of a small bag for the reasons you mentioned - I felt they looked too child like or something. And they felt hard to reach into - I kind of like seeing what's in my bag. I kept a couple just in case I need something very light weight for an event where I may be on my feet a lot but I'm loving my larger satchels or totes these days.

I'm 5'9" and I weigh proportionally less than you and I carry cross body bags all the time. I don't think they look frumpy or bigger, or ridiculous. I'm in my 50's. My daughter is an inch taller and your weight. She carries them too. I have to say that you must be very thin. We are, or consider ourselves to be. You should try a variety of bag shapes. Look in the mirror to see if the shape of the bag works for you. Try both structured and unstructured bags. For example one shape bag that I have tried that doesn't work for me is a structured rectangle with the long sides perpendicular to the floor. Awful!

there are lots out there that are a little bigger, sometimes called hipsters, still flat but about 7"x9", maybe? Although I don't think a smaller one would look dinky on you.

And then some, not all, of the bigger ones are like a big blobby growth on your hip/belly/butt.... in which case, a smaller more discrete bag is probably better. They are so useful to use so maybe its a case of JFE?...

I am barely 5'4" yet I too fear the mini cross bodies will look "dinky" or too young on me. Like girlish somehow being so small and cute. I keep looking at them and wondering, can I pull them off.

After thinking about this a bit, I feel you CAN pull this off BUT the style of bag will be important. Also sometimes there are bags that are just a tad bigger than the minis but achieve a similar effect and purpose.

Finds 1 and 2 are a similar bag, #1 being the smaller version. Both would look great on an adult who is tall (I think). Finds 3 and 4 reflect styles I'm not comfortable with because they are somehow too cute/girly for me.

Find 5 reflects my compromise, a small cross body bag. Not mini, but not regular sized either. I like the way it looks and how it looks on me.

(Definitely click through on the Finds because you will find pictures of tall models wearing these bags, usually the models are around your height.)

Another tall woman accessory question: I LOVE crossbody mini bags. You know the ones, where it's just a little bigger than a wallet, with room for your phone, cards, cash, lip balm and keys. My question is, do those look ridiculous on tall women? I'm 5'10" tall, 140lbs with I guess a rectangle body type. I'm worried a little purse will make me look bigger and frumpy, like I'm trying to be too cute or young. I just don't like to carry much, and clutches make me crazy!
