Well, if you don't count the wellies that I wear nearly every darned day, then I'd have to say I'm more into short boots at the moment, too.

It is definitely boot season here. If I'm attending some sort of function I tend to wear ankle boots. Errand running, kids activities = mid calf or tall flat boots. If I have to be outside for more than I couple minutes I break out the Sorels or the La Canadiennes. We have a ton of snow here already.

In answer to Deb, I wear socks or tights with booties (and boots). The only exception is with my Report booties, which I also wear in slightly warmer temperatures without socks. They are padded on the tops inside so can be worn this way with comfort and the wide opening allows air to circulate. Otherwise, in my climate of extremes, it just doesn't work to wear booties without tights....it is too cold! And most boots and booties are simply too hot to wear when it is warn enough to go without leg covering.

In answer to the question up thread, I wear boots and booties with socks or tights, never barefoot.

I've been wearing both tall and short boots. With dresses and skirts I'm still wearing tall boots because of my short legs and because otherwise my legs are cold, even with tights. My calves are so "shapely" (muscle bound is more accurate) that I find tall boots help smooth things over a bit instead of highlighting what doesn't need more attention.

Having just challenged myself to wear all my boots, I can honestly say that I love and wear all my boots. (Although I haven't worn a non-boot shoe in weeks!) My collection is pretty evenly split between high, mid, and booties. Actually, I don't have any shooties (by the way, I really detest that word), because I actually find that the least flattering type of boot on me. If I'm going that low, I'll just wear my oxfords (unless oxfords count?).

I wore ankle boots on the road trip last week, but they were all I had available. Since being home, I have worn my weatherproof black riding boots and my Sorel's. The snow has been flying and the ground continues to be covered. I like all boots equally, but when it's slick out, my flat boots (which are the tall ones) are the ones I grab for good footing.

I got to wear my booties for the first time this season last week because it's been so warm. I don't own any tall boots and now I'm kind of glad I didn't buy some last winter because our weather doesn't warrant a major investment in them. (I did just buy DD a pair of inexpensive tall boots which I hope she will share with me).

I think I'll really enjoy the right shootie when I discover it. It will be a great change for slightly dressier looks.

Una, I''m proud to say that I don't hate my unshapely legs at all. I don't have a defined calf that can fill out a boot or structure a bootie - so what! There is still lots of fun to have with fashion despite a narrow calf. I'm equally proud that you have learnt NOT to hate your legs. You just won the next YLF award.

Makes total sense, Angie! I have been looking for a pair already and will continue the search. And in the meantime I really like my lighter booties with skirts and dresses in warmer weather, and my darker booties with dark hose!

I totally wear the look, Suz. I would not encourage a look that I did not believe in. My credibility would go downhill fast - and my credibility is everything in my line of work. I prefer the lower contrast bootie against my skin tone - as you do - because I am a very pale blonde with unshapely legs. I do not own black booties - I own black shooties and wear them both with bare legs and with hose. Black booties require a more shapely leg when you are blonde - which you have! That said, shooies are definately on your shopping list because the effect is softer although the vamp is still high. Hope that makes sense

Well, okay, Angie...I will let you off....I notice those booties are almost neutral. So they work rather like my Reports work for me. I do find black ones much harder to wear without black hose.

And I still don't own any shooties. So that is a wardrobe hole for me.

Interesting that so many of us are onto booties vs. the tall boots. I will wear my tall boots when it gets very snowy or rainy, for sure. But I must say I am not heartbroken that those tall Borns didn't work for me. I can wait another year for the perfect dressy tall boot.

I guess I'm all alone - I prefer tall boots. Booties are ok with pants, but I'm not used to them with skirts or dresses - they just look kind of weird to me. I specifically wear boots when it's cold, so if it isn't cold enough for tall boots, it just isn't cold.

In my experience, by the time I get used to a trend, it's on its way out!

YES! I had to force myself to wear my tall boots last week. I had literally forgotten about them.

Angie, you devil!! All this time you have been encouraging stump-legged me to wear booties with dresses and you don't even do it yourself. I want to spank your bottom (and get your shootie recommendations!)
